How Does LashBlast Fusion Stack Up?
CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara ($8.99) is designed to both lengthen and volumize your lashes in just one formula. A year ago, I reviewed LastBlast Length with pretty good results–not my perfect mascara for my eyelashes–but a solid lengthening mascara all the same.
It is a fiber mascara, which makes it very easy to remove. Despite easy removal, I did not encounter any smudging or flaking during the twelve hour test I gave it. Everything stayed put as it should. This is a great mascara if you use about two coats or three really quick coats–if you work slowly on each coat, you’ll end up in Clump City. It didn’t seem prone to clumping so much as it dries quickly. When it’s dried, my lashes didn’t feel heavy or crunchy, and they still looked like they had a natural softness to them.
I think what left me less than impressed with this mascara is that the effect is more on the natural side, which isn’t what LashBlast seems to be about. It gives some length, a little volume (I didn’t notice much myself), and smidgen of thickening–but it doesn’t do any of these with any va-voom. The original LashBlast does all of these better, and LashBlast Length does a better job of lengthening.
When it comes to rating a product, it’s about how good it is–but also how good it is at what it’s supposed to do. While it’s great when a product does more than it should or does something great, I always consider whether it lives up to the marketing claims. Fusion doesn’t fail, but it doesn’t live up to its claims about volume for me, but it does a decent job of adding length.

RECOMMENDATION: I don’t think any of the LashBlasts will treat you poorly, but Fusion seems to give me the most natural look of all three. (And yes, I’m totally aware that I don’t actually have a review of the original LashBlast up at this time.) I’d probably stick with the original for a more multi-tasking mascara or opt for lengthening if you need just length.

Have you tried LashBlast Luxe? My regular covergirl LashBlast was a tad dry, so I got the Luxe when I was at the store. It seems to stay wet longer and not give as much volume. Also, the waterproof LashBlast was so horrible, I returned it! How can it be so different from waterproof to non-waterproof?

I know that some waterproof formulas end up making lashes really crunchy/dry, so the ingredient composition is definitely different enough to cause that!
Oooh SO TRUE. I loved the original and the Lashblast waterproof smudged everywhere and totally didn’t give me anything the original did! And it was super hard to take off even with makeup remover. My lashes weren’t crunchy, they were wetter and somehow less waterproof. I dunno, maybe it was my tube but I really didn’t like the waterproof version.
I’ve tried this mascara and other than Revlon Double Twist, I thought it was the worst mascara I ever tried. LOL

Do you comb your lashes with a lash comb? I never get mine so clump free!
Not with this particular photo – I usually don’t do anything *unless* I feel it was more user error, but for a review, I want you to see if it gets clumpy in 2-3 coats (after 3, it’s understandable if it starts to get clumpy, LOL).

I tried the original lash blast once. The one in the orange tube I believe…Anyway, I thought it was horrible! SO much came out of the tube, and it made my eyelashes stick together and didn’t do anything for them at all! And it left a mess everywhere on my face. 🙁 I feel like I’m alone in feeling this way because I’ve heard everyone rave about this line from Cover Girl!
you’re not alone! all the lashblasts are a nightmare in my opinion… if i have to comb my eyelashes after using a mascara then what’s the point?!

The original formula is HG mascara for me.
I didn’t like LB Fusion at all. The regular one is so much better.
I love how natural and clump free it looks (despite needing three coats!).
Hmm, I’m wearing three coats of Fusion right now, and it definitely makes a bigger impact than what is shown. I think this mascara is good at building; you can put on several coats and in my experience, it doesn’t clump and still looks natural.
It’s not the absolute best I’ve ever used, but I do like this mascara.
Three coats is what I used here – it was as “big” as it got for me personally. We’re all different 🙂
I think Christine’s right here! Our lashes are all different and we need different things. I definitely wear multiple coats of all of Lashblast’s line and have found them to work really well at giving me thick lashes but I have a lot of baby lashes that really pop when I load on the mascara, so I guess that’s why I really love Fusion, it gives me loads of volume and more length than the original did.
I think the key for me is to keep on piling on mascara and not letting it dry between coats. I never put on another coat or touch up in the middle of the day because that’s just asking for flakes hahaha.
I loved the wand and formula, but I had an allergic reaction to this mascara (which never happened w/ mascara before)
well you just saved me a couple of bucks! i guess ill just get the regular!
I’ve tried the original LashBlast and also the Length, and they both performed very well on me. the strange thing is, it seems that, compared to these pics, I managed to get more volume using the Length than Christine did with the Fusion! it’s weird, cuz her lashes and mine are about on par. =P

I tried the one in the purple tube and HATED IT!
I liked the way my lashes looked, but this turned into flake city after a few hours. And not just those a flake here a flake there, but all over the place and little ones that got in my eyes. I only use it on my top lashes and spending the afternoon with gritty eyes did not work for me.
The only up side to this mascara, it was easy to remove, but then again half of it was flaked off.
I liked LashBlast Fusion way better than all previous LashBlast incarnations. This one was actually a lot nicer.
i loathe all forms of lashblast. i just dont understand how people can like this mascara. Colossal mascara however, in the bright yellow tube, that stuff is gold for being drugstore
I tried this mascara due to all the MUA hype, and *comic book guy voice* worst mascara ever! It flaked all over my cheeks. I’ve never had that happen with any other mascara I’ve ever tried.
I’m SO glad you reviewed this. I’m sticking with Plushlash and Zoomlash. I don’t care what people say, they always make my eyelashes look great.

Its ok. but theres a ton of others out there. Jane max lash is great for the price if u want budget
I actually had excellent results with Fusion. My lashes are long and pretty but without the clumping and flaking that the original formula presents. I prefer it over the original myself.
