CoverGirl LashBlast Length Goes Long
CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara ($7.49) is the newest mascara launch from CoverGirl. With the popularity of LashBlast solidified, CoverGirl’s LashBlast Length is a lengthening mascara. CoverGirl touts that it makes lashes “80% longer looking vs. your bare lashes” (on average).
LashBlast Length indeed delivers–and does it well–when it comes to lengthening lashes. I felt like my lashes were significantly lengthened with just three quick coats of mascara. I saw instant lengthening and darkening of my natural lashes. I wouldn’t say it added any thickness/volume to my lashes, though (which, sadly, I definitely need!), but this is one of the better mascaras I’ve tried in terms of lengthening prowess. The mascara also stays true to the advertising: it does not smudge or flake during the day.
In fact, it did such a great job at lengthening my natural lashes that when I tried a few other mascaras during the week, I felt like they gave me rather stumpy lashes! The length might be so much more dramatic than the average mascara that I just might not worry so much about a mascara that lengthens, thickens, and volumizes all at once. My only issue is you really should stick to two or three coats, and don’t try to make your lashes look thicker with this mascara — you’ll only end up in Clump City with nowhere to turn!
The packaging is much slimmer compared to the original LastBlast (huge plus!) and the brush is easy to use. It has a plastic (I do believe, it certainly looks so) applicator that grabs onto lashes well–I didn’t feel like it left too many lashes behind. The brush itself is fairly long and very thin/narrow. Those with smaller eyes may find it a bit unwieldy, though I didn’t personally experience any trouble using the wand (I’d say I have medium-sized to small-sized eyes).
LashBlast Length officially launches and debuts in mass retailers around the nation in September, but limited quantities are available for early purchasing at select retailers online (Amazon, CVS, Drugstore.com, and Walgreens).
- Product: 8/10
- Value: 9/10
- Ease of Use: 8/10
- Packaging: 7/10
- Overall: 8/10
Recommendation: At just over $7 a pop, it’s a good, budget-friendly option for the mascara maven looking for long, wondrous lashes. Those on a hunt for a thickening/volumizing mascara might want to look elsewhere.
Availability: Drugstore.com, Amazon.com

Wow! This really did lengthen your lashes beautifully & with no heavy look at all. I, personally, am a loyal LashBlast fan & use it every day. I, fortunately, have long lashes so the regular formula really does a nice job of giving them volume & thickness..for me anyways. But, I may be so inclined to get this LashBlast Length just because it looks that good. Maybe one coat of LashBlast Length & 2 coats of my regular LashBlast will have my lashes reaching “Vavoom” status. Ya never know.. 🙂 Thx for this review!!!
I’m thinking about mixing and matching the two together, too, to see if that’ll give me what I am looking for!
I doubt you should do that………you could get a really bad allergic reaction. Sometimes the ingredients dont mix well! I dont think you should do this!!!
Not to mention formulas are different, and mixing them together can cause things like flaking or smudging when that would not normally be present!
I find that layering with other brands/types can look REALLY cakey too.. I had a friend, she’d literally wear 5 mascaras at a time. Was not pretty.
wow this really does work!
Definitely!
I hope they have it in waterproof..that’s the ONLY way my lashes will stay curly! Pls tell me they released one that’s waterproof? 🙂 Great review!
I am not sure yet… I know it is in black and brown.
They have it in waterproof too!
Thanks for reviewing Christine! I’ve been waiting patiently for this new mascara and can’t wait to try it!
No problem, Erica! Did you order it?
I love CG’s mascara brushes. I wanna try this a lot, even if it doesn’t thicken as well as my fave Full ‘n’ Soft.
Let us know if you like it, Chynna!
Nice! I’ll try this one out after my Lash Stilleto runs its 3 month course. I am truly convinved that you don’t need to spend more than $10 on mascara (and that’s after I’ve tried all “the greats” like DiorShow, Benefit Bad Gal Lash, YSL Luxurious, Too Faced Lash Injection Pinpoint, etc.)
I haven’t yet found my HG mascara at the drugstore, but I haven’t yet found true HG period!
It definitely makes them longer, but it still looks natural! Does this come in brown? I’d think that’d be perfect to get the Bambi-look.
I do believe it comes in brown 🙂
Looks great and I do see the difference in lengthening! I can’t wait to try it when it is available at London Drugs or Shoppers Drug Mart! Would you mix and match with another volumizing mascara to have both length and volume?
I’d probably give it a shot — haven’t tried it yet, but I am going to for sure!
Very natural, and definitely adds a nice amount of length.
However, I find that in those close ups, it looks almost.. fake? Not “fake lashes” fake, but like.. plastic fake. Maybe that’s just me? They kind of make me think of those cheap plastic hair brushes that have the “soft” bristles or w/e.
As I said, maybe that’s just me.
I’d probably skip this though, as I am wanting more volume as opposed to more length, and I am needing a more moisturizing mascara. It looks very pretty though! Definitely a good I-just-woke-up-looking-this-great look to wear when going minimalistic.
LOL! It just might be how close-up it is, too!
Im Totally Getting this 🙂
Also I LOVE Your Site,Im On It All The Time lol♥
Thank you so much, Jessica! 😀
ooh this might be the next one to try, I’m currently stuck on maybelline stiletto lash as it is also pretty smooth and I get no clumps at all.
Nice! I can’t remember if I’ve tried that one…
wow! it really does lengthen.
Yeah, lots of length! 😀
Wow! They look great, especially at 3 coats! No clumping, and it looks so clean! I’m so excited to get my hands on this. I didn’t even know it existed, so thanks for the heads up.
BY THE WAY. i have no idea exactly how old you are, but let me say in the pictures of no mascara, and what I believe is, no make up, your eyes look so healthy! By that I mean the skin around it looks so…clean and wrinkle free. I’m jealoussss
No problem, Angie! 🙂
I am 22 (well, I guess, 3 weeks away from being 23, so more 23 than 22), LOL. I feel like my eyes look way too old for 22.
wow! thats quite impressive! i’ll be definitely trying that one myself.
I know – I was definitely impressed by the length!
wow looks good ! haha i noticed your eye color kinda looks like leopard print (:
Haha, kind of! 🙂
Does look very nice, will have to try. Also i dont want to alarm you but it looks like you might have copper deposits in your eye(s).
That’s just my natural eye color, sorry!
Wow i so definately have 2 try this although everyone says my eyelashes are already long this still sounds good =)

I will see what I can do!
Wow! It really lengthens your lashes! Especially your lower lashline! I’m so glad I bought it after I read this review! My lashes are pretty thick already, but short. Thanks, I think I’ve found a perfect mascara! 🙂
