The Sultry Season: MAC Odyssey Lipstick
MAC Odyssey Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is an opaque, berry-wine with a frost finish. Odyssey is definitely a staple MAC shade for me–it’s perfect for the fall and winter, but it’s not too dark. It’s a great choice for someone who doesn’t quite want to go ultra dark but still wants something with more depth than a milky pink, too. It works well on both cool and warm skin tones, and it’s not overly frosty either. During the holidays, you can add a little gold or red lipgloss to make it more festive.
Is this the right berry for you? Would you wear it?
The Sultry Season is a series of posts featuring deep, rich shades of brown, berry, plum, and wine lipsticks and lipglosses — just right for autumn — that runs through October 2010.
thats a lovely shade i will surely buy this one , never thought this is such a beautiful shade … i give most of my lippies credit to you and this one is joining too … 🙂
Aww 🙂
what horrible color!
For some reason I cannot stand frosty lipsticks. It doesn’t matter how pretty the colour is, once I see that frostiness I go UUUUGH!
Agreed :/ It’s annoying, cause the colour is preeetty, but the FROST.
ooo this is nice. Would it look good with NC20 skin tone? Or will I look vampy?
NOO, would be lovely!
this is kind of like the “stars n rockets” of lipstick for me. it looks good with just about anything you blend it with and i love it! use it all the time with all kinds of lip looks 🙂
So true 😀
I love this color!! BTW I was wondering…how do you do lip swatches on the lip and get them to look so good up close?? I was trying to do them for my blog and they are coming out awful!!! Please give me some tips!!
Thanks so much!
Lots and lots of practice — honest! There’s no one technique I do that helps, but I think it’s more the fact that I’ve done 500-1000 lip swatches over time!
It looks gorgeous! I will try it for sure the next time I’m at MAC.
I like it! if anyone does like frost if you put a bit of clear lipgloss over it, it takes the frost look off a bit!
i meant to say doesn’t! d’oh!
How does this compare to Mac’s Funbathing? It seems to remind me of it.
Not quite as red or copper — little more plum.
I might have to get this one for the fall.
This reminds me a lot of “O” (my first MAC lipstick.) I guess I’m one of the few that likes frost in a lipstick. 🙂
Not the only one!! 😉 I also think this color is lovely..frosted and all!!
I love frost also and I think this shade is beautiful!
Love this color.
I think it’s quite pretty! I like that it’s sort of an in between shade: not too dark, not too light.
I see why this is a staple color of yours! It looks beautiful on you!
Thank you, Kirstie!
Beautiful color, I was wondering if you could mention in the post whether or not it’s a permanent color, or if it’s pro, and if it is limited edition which collection it came out in etc., thanks!
All shades featured in the Sultry Season are permanent.
My Odyssey doesn’t look so nice on me. It goes on looking more pinky-lilac. I don’t get that nice looking wine payoff.
Hi Christine,
the color looks amazing on you, and your lipps are very very sexy by the way *kiss* 😉
Be well!
Nina
Aw, thanks, Nina!
I love this colour, especially on you Christine.
I’m hoping it looks as good on me!
Thanks, Karen! Hope it looks lovely on you!
just bought this yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous shade! Any suggestions for a lip pencil that will go well with it?
I went back to Mac and got Half-Red lip pencil. matches perfectly and I can’t wait to sport this look!
