Round-up: Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colours

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colours
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colours

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.09 oz.) is supposed to be a “buildable, lightweight lipstick” with an “ultra-luminous” finish. They’re a good fit for someone who likes sheerer, buildable coverage in a traditional shade range. Some shades seem rather similar applied, so it is useful to swatch them in person or to only choose only one from a color family to ensure versatility in your stash. They are scented with the La Petite Robe Noire fragrance, which is sweet, fruity, and floral, and it is definitely noticeable applied (it stops registering to my nose after an hour or two), and I personally got a soapy, sweet taste at times while wearing them.

They’re nice, but not great – so many of the colours are really similar to each other and it is a pity that lots of brands are doing major launches of lipsticks (think UD’s 100) – it is a bit overwhelming. So Guerlain’s seem a little average. They are too sheer for my liking and too expensive.

Had to google/fragrantica LPRN. Cherries, licorice, almond. Quite a departure for the Grande Dame of fragrance. Well, actually, it is rather appropriate for a lipstick scent, if you tolerate scents in l/s. The G scents I like would be so wrong in l/s. Like Jicky, L’Heure Bleue, Mitsouko. The classic perfume bottle top on the tube is a nice touch. It’s decades of iconic. But the sweet, soapy taste is a deal breaker. Nice collection, nonetheless. LPRN has highly polarized reviews on Fragrantica. Some find that it panders to youth, and besmirches the name of the great house! Hah! Evolve.

Several of these appeal to me, I like the sheerer approach. Python bag, red bowtie, poppy cap, leather blazer all appeal. But I have to try in person, not least to see how the scent goes, and Guerlain isn’t sold around here. So I’ll try them out next time I’m on travel.

Funnily I love the scent and taste of these, and so does my sister. I now own 3 – 011 Beige Lingerie, 061 Pink Ballerinas and 067 Cherry Cape and am really pleased with them all. I think they may be my favourite everyday Guerlain lipsticks overall (comparing packaging, price, formula and shade range)
