Round-up: Tarte Drench Lip Splash Lipstick

Tarte Drench Lip Splash Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.085 oz.) is supposed to have “full coverage” with a “matte” finish and still manage to hydrate the lips while being “long-wearing.” The range is very pigmented with a more semi-matte to satin finish than truly matte. The wear varied from four to six hours, but the more velvety, silicone-like consistency made it so some shades settled into lip lines, though the more forgiving texture makes it easier to smooth the color back in place during wear. The formula is comfortable to wear overall with a faint mint scent but no taste. If you twist-up the entire lipstick from the tube, it appears rather stubby, but it is actually still 0.085 oz. by weight–the average lipstick is between 0.10 oz. and 0.12 oz. with the occasional lipstick as large as 0.15 oz. (Tarte’s regular lipstick contains $17.00/0.10 oz., and their twist-up LipSurgence range is $24.00/0.10 oz.). Worth noting, the tube itself felt thin and less sturdy than most lipstick tubes I’ve come across.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

A few of these DO appeal to me, but those tubes casings sound worrisome. I’ve already had an unpleasant occurrence of a Nyx High Voltage open up in my bag last summer, so I just don’t know. If I get one or two, I suppose I would have to keep an eye on them.
