The boys are getting their teeth clean on Saturday so it will be peaceful for a while. No other plans.
Snackwell cookies.

Have a great weekend Christine. xoxo for the handsome Mellan from me and the boys.

Julia Avatar

Hey, Mellan! Looking super cute!

I got: Scarab, Phallic, Poke, Stance, Creator, Boudicca, Glitterati, Viridian, Throb, Spartan, Nomad, and Noble – which came with a tiny “Temptalia Editor’s Choice” sticker on it ?
Weekend plans: We are supposed to hit close to 60 degrees today and tomorrow, so I am getting outside!
What was the last dessert you had: I made rice pudding last night. Yum.

Haul: Ordered online from Sephora TOO FACED
Born This Way Foundation in Snow (waiting over 6 months for it to stock online at Sephore!) and Love Flush Blush Wardrobe. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood….. Yasss

Weekend plans: Goin the see The Witch (VVitch) tonight.

What was the last dessert you had?: Apple pie from Costco.

Christine Avatar

Make Up For Ever doesn’t usually send press samples to me – not since maybe 2 years ago? I think the last thing I received as a sample was something on behalf of Sephora for the holidays (they sent several holiday set exclusives for different brands). The last sample I might have received from Make Up For Ever themselves may have been a dozen or so Artist Shadows (I purchased the rest).

Tammy B Avatar

Ooo, The Witch looks so creepy and yet is rated to be an excellent movie! I wish I could handle scary movies; if I could, this is the one I would see!

Katherine T. Avatar

Aww, I think Mellan’s giving you the “are you going to walk me soon” look
*Haul – new Sephora Gel Lip Liners, and Wet N Wild Highlighter in Sun Ceremony. I saw your review and found them at Walgreens, but mine looks a lot less yellow both in the pan and on the face. Mine is more light beige shimmer w/some yellowish undertones when blended out. I even went to a 2nd Walgreens to see if mine was defective, but nope. I did notice yours was a press sample, so that might be it. Kind of bummed because I liked that yellow gold color, but the color’s not bad, just not as unique, and it’s cheap, so might keep. We’ll see.
*Weekend- relax, test and inventory makeup, some boring financial planning stuff
*Last Dessert – Kara’s cupcake (yum!)

Christine Avatar

The dog is SO amped before a walk. He starts stalking my husband by 1PM, LOL.

Oh no! That is really odd that it is less yellow even on (normally that is where it would be less apparent, I think, compared to swatched since cheek application is usually lighter).

Katherine T. Avatar

On my hand, it’s a subtle pale champagne gold sheen, very pretty, but I think some of it doesn’t quite translate on my cheeks because the subtle gold sheen blends into my yellow undertones, but someone with more neutral undertones might see more impact. But it’s definitely different than your swatch.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Katherine, what’s your take on the Sephora lip liners? I have some liners but almost never use them…and then last week I ended up using a Bite one with my lipstick and it really helped the staying power. I’m thinking I might want to add to my liner stash. Thanks!

Susan Parker Avatar

I hope you don’t mind me interjecting… I’m not a big fan of Nyx products but their Slim Lip Pencils are terrific! They stop my liquid lipsticks from feathering, they’re long-lasting, available in dozens of shades and they’re inexpensive. Gotta love that!

monica Avatar

Haul: Didn’t end up getting anything

Weekend plans: Taking my sister to a college for a sleep over. And I’m going on a date on Sunday (very excited about it)

What was the last dessert you had?: Creme Brule

Tova J Avatar

Haul: Ohh I actually have a package from NYX with some lippies I won waiting for me at home.. Also I’m going to get another package from iHerb soon – Giovanni D:tox face wash, moisturizer and tea tree oil!
Weekend plans: I feel like creating some makeup, maybe give matte shadows a try..
What was the last dessert you had?: Princess cake 🙂

Bonnie Avatar

Haha me too Christine! Since their products go 40% off a few times a year I refuse to pay full price for them! And of COURSE the Ulta Nyx sale was on eye products only when they released their new lippies!

Bonnie Avatar

YES NANCY!!! It annoys me SO MUCH! I just got the new Ulta mailer and no NYX sale at all this time! Aaaarrrrg. It’s like..we ALL know they’re going to go on sale why are you toying with us like this. ? I can’t wait to get some of those amazing new shades as well!

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Mellan looks like he’s trying to powder his nose – super cute!

Haul:
Beauty.com ($20 Off): Dr. Brandt Needles No More, 3 Free Samples. Not sure the NNM works but it’s not hurting…

MAC: MAC Select Lipstick (So Select), Pro Eye Makeup Remover Sample. I think this is the first of the exclusives MAC is doing for members only. I normally don’t buy matte lipsticks but my curiosity got the better of me and I liked the shade. It’s shipped but I don’t have it yet so I can’t report yet.

Nordstrom: Aveda Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum, 3 Free Samples. Another addiction courtesy of a former free sample. Again, don’t know if it “works” but it does leave my hands super silky in the morning.

Saks: JINsoon Cherry Berry Nail Polish, Dior Diorshow Lash Extension Effect Volume Mascara (Blue and Purple), Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Loose Powder, White Tote With Samples (GWP), Black Fuzzy Charm (GWP). Being delivered today. Love JINSoon polish (perhaps my fav with Zoya as close second). Getting a backup of my fav powder. Also trying to replace other brands’ dried-out colored mascara.

Sephora: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Dragonfruit, Dr. Brandt Needles No More Deluxe Sample, 3 Free Samples. Ok, so Dragonfruit is bright. As in way brighter than the online pic looked. It is pretty so I will use it but had hoped it wasn’t quite as bright bc I was trying to replace a less bright shade. Plus side is, I am finding this new formula better than the original in that this seems to be way more moisturizing. This shade is super pigmented and left behind a stain.

Sephora: Becca Backlight Targeted Colour Corrector (Papaya), Milk Makeup Concealer (Fair), Bobbi Brown Deluxe Skincare Sample Set (GWP), 3 Free Samples. Will be trying these over the weekend. I’m a little nervous about the BECCA but hoping it does what it says without looking like I have pink eye! As far as the concealer goes, I haven’t found a Milk product yet that I’m not happy with.

Ulta: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Blur BB (Medium, for daughter), UD Afterglow Blush (Quickie), Cetaphil Intensive Moisturizing Cream (2), 3 Free Samples. Shipped but not received. Wanted to add Quickie to my blush stash.

Urban Decay (20% Off): Revolution High Color Lipgloss (Bittersweet and Frenemy), 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Woodstock and Asphyxia) . Bittersweet’s a re-buy and Frenemy is new to me. Really psyched to use the 24/7s over the weekend. I’m thinking of pairing them with my MAC Flamingo palette.

Weekend plans: Going to be 60 here on Saturday after another round of snow this week. I’m hoping to maybe do some outlet shopping. Also thinking of doing a modern French mani using Zoya Eastyn (subtle greyed grape) with Zoya Willa (black) tips. I think it will depend on my motivation!

What was the last dessert you had?: I’m diabetic so I really don’t eat desserts. Although I do a mix of Planters pumpkin pie spice almonds with Emerald vanilla almonds as a snack sometimes that’s only 8 carbs and tastes like pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Katherine T. Avatar

Happy 60th, Michelle!! Wow, you don’t look it at all, would never have guessed, must tell me how you do it! Oh, and I love pumpkin pie, but not all the sugar and calories that come with it, must try those almond snacks. Hey, I was wondering if that BITE Amuse Bouche Dragon Fruit is the same LE shade they released last year for April? It has the same name, and was a bright berry fuschia.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Yikes – not 60 so hope I DON’T look it! Will be 50 Sept. 1st though. 🙂
Almonds aren’t low in calories, but they are really good for you. Mixing and matching some of the flavored ones makes for a good snack. (Watch some of the fruit flavored ones though bc they’re really high in sugar and carbs…i.e. the raspberry ones).
Dragon Fruit is actually one of the ones I didn’t get i the original collection. From what I can tell from the new shade it does look a lot like the old one. Depending on my motivation, I may swatch it over the weekend for my blog (which I resurrected last night after a year off – actually kind of creepy that the web people could bring it back. Just goes to show, once on the net, always on the net!)

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh yikes sorry, I was reading too fast! You meant 60 F temperature, not 60 yo. Well, I thought you looked decades younger, so if you have any secrets to youth, let me know. I’m 46, heading for the big 50 in a few years, and Sept 1 is my daughters bday too 🙂 I love almonds, so will try to track down those almonds snacks. If you do start blogging again, let me know what the link is, and I will check out Dragon Fruit 🙂

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

No worries – guilty of skim reading myself! I’m 49 🙂 Haven’t posted my review of Dragon Fruit yet but may try to get my thoughts together for some posts over the next week of so. If I get motivated, I may start taking pics later this afternoon. The link is the same as it always was (http://mmrkt1.wix.com/binxcatsbeautyblog). It should be optimized for mobile devices, but honestly, while I updated some of the format, I haven’t checked it on my mobile yet.

Katherine T. Avatar

Thanks Michele!! I’ve bookmarked the blog in case you decide to re-start it. Dang, I need to try that Milk Lipstick! It sounds like a dream because I’m always sipping water/tea all day long, need something that can last and not dry out my lips. And I was laughing at your post of that Becca “color corrector” – holy moly, I thought it was an orange blush or some shadow from the UD Electric palette when I first saw it LOL

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Katherine, I got a bunch of different swatches posted this morning since you asked. I think my swatch looks slightly lighter and brighter than the one Christine just posted. Possibly the difference being that I’m lighter-toned. (My pics are done under daylight bulbs.)

Btw, Christine – holy cow – what an amazing (and most likely exhausting) job you did of swatching every single shade! This is one of many reasons we love you!

Meghan Avatar

Haul: Nada this week! I’m not really looking into buying anything, which helps on the no/low-buy.
Weekend plans: Homework! I have so much to do 😐 Today I’m off work and I’ll get a massage! But I will get to the homework, haha.
What was the last dessert you had?: My mom made really awesome brownies last weekend!

t Avatar

haul: urban decay electric palette (which I’ve wanted forever) and stila stay all day liquid lipstick in chianti. also ordered one of the new bite lipsticks yesterday so hopefully that will come soon
weekend plans: it’s a long weekend so I’m going home, might ski depending on the weather
last dessert you ate: I had a cookie dough cupcake after dinner last night

chris Avatar

Actually, I am going to re-introduce myself to some ColorPop Colors I ‘ve yet to try.

I am going to do some window shopping and try on some Dessy dresses for my summer sorority convention.

I treated myself to an apple-caramel dessert at Longhorn the other night. I ate 1/2. It was delicious and gooey. Warm served with vanilla bean ice cream.

Tammy B Avatar

Haul: Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage eyeshadow quad, and lip colors Giacomo and Francesco. I am in love with Giacomo!

Last dessert: Lemon Girl Scout cookies last night?

Anna Avatar

Haul: I have been on a low buy all last year when it comes to lipstick but then I sort of lost it and ordered UD firebird and 714 from the Gwen collection. I have read that the 714 is drying so ordering that online could go weird but it looks like a perfect vintage lipstick so got it anyway.
Weekend plans: Elementary season 3 is on netflix so might watch that.
Last dessert: I don’t actually eat dessert so have no idea but I did have something called “chocolate ball” with a cup of coffee today so that might count. Calorie-wise it counts anyway!

Kimberly Avatar

Haul: MAC Taupe lipstick! Broke my no-buy after a particularly harrowing week and I needed a little pick me up… heh. Love how wearable it is for a brown because of the brick reddish hint to it. I plan to mix it with Brave Red because I can’t justify buying Ruby Woo or Russian Red when I don’t even wear that much red lipstick to begin with ):
Weekend plans: Work and more work! Maybe a nap if I’m lucky.
What was the last dessert you had?: Cake! We had a flourless chocolate cake for my brother’s birthday last week. Love myself some cake, but pie will always be my favourite dessert haha.

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Kimberly, MAC Taupe lipstick has been my lifelong go to lipstick shade. I was excited to match a lipgloss to it during an impromptu stop at a MAC store when out of town. Hope you love it, too!

xamyx Avatar

Haul: Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer in Creamy Vanilla (it’s the lightest shade, but still pretty dark…), The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops in Lightening (it doesn’t do a whole lot in terms of “lightening”, however, it is great for “neutralizing” too warm foundations), and a few random lipsticks & a concealer from a local beauty supply store.

Plans: Stay in, pretty much… We had a really long day yesterday; my daughter had an orthodontic consult (I’m going to be forced on a “low-buy” for a while, LOL), plus her weekly therapy session, which were at the same location, so we scheduled for the same day… We have to do it again next Thursday, too, but at least we can start the day a few hours later.

Dessert: I don’t really do dessert after a meal, but I did have a couple of Thin Mints last night when I got home.

xamyx Avatar

Edit: I also grabbed Revlon ColorStay Foundation in Buff (I still have a full bottle, plus over half of one I’m working through, but this one actually has a pump!), an Essence cream-to-powder hoghlighter, and the reformulated Wet n Wild Contour & Highlight Duo on Dulce de Leche (the formula doesn’t feel too different, and I actually prefer the color of the original…).

Sarah Avatar

Haul: silk, cream St. John blouse for $40 at Nordstrom rack (what a steal!), a couple pairs of Levis.
Weekend: get a start on my indoor seeds for the garden, because spring will be here before I know it!
Dessert: do two classes of sherry count?

Claire L Avatar

Haul: TKMaxx: BareMinerals 8.0 The Soft and Smoky eye palette, Real Techniques travel makeup brush set, Cowshed Gorgeous Cow body lotion. I was so chuffed to find the BM eye palette, I’ve seen it on QVC but didn’t fancy having to pay P&P on top, and didn’t see it on the BM UK site, despite stalking it for ages since your review. I paid £19.99 instead of £29.10 + £3.95 P&P. Love TKMaxx bargains!

Latest in Beauty make your own box: 5 Emma Hardie radiance primer sachets, Rituals foaming shower wash in Hammam Delight and Zensation, deluxe Sanctuary Spa Luxurious body cream, deluxe Sanctuary Spa body lotion in White Lily and Damask Rose, 2 x Shay and Blue’s Blood Orange perfume samples, Manuka Doctor’s mini hero kit (3 samples of their products), Roger & Gallet’s body sorbet in Gingembre Rouge and a pair of Skyn Iceland’s cooling eye gel masks. I also got a GWP full size Eyeko Fat liquid eyeliner.

Plans for weekend: None so far, will see how the weather is and go from there, probably! It’s been cold and wet lately, hovering around the freezing mark. Maybe we’ll visit my fiance’s mum or dad, we’ll do a food shop for sure.

Last dessert I had: Orange blossom polenta cake with pomegranate seeds and orange slices at Jamie’s Italian last Sat.

Kimmwc03 Avatar

Haul: My JS Androgyny order should arrive today and the Jouer liquid lipsticks are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
Weekend plans: Deadpool and maybe enjoy some warmer weekend before more snow comes.
Last dessert: I recently got a slice of S’Mores cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory that I ate over the span of three days last week.

Bonnie Avatar

Haul – 4 of the new Bite amuse bouche lipsticks! I already received two of them (Sake and Molasses) and they’re AMAZING. I had low expectations bc I didn’t think they could be better than the Luminous Cremes, but I was blown away. I love them and immediately went on line yesterday and ordered two more (Spritzer and Sorbet) and considering a few more shades as well! I reeeeaally wanted to see swatches from Christine first, but I just could. not. wait. on these! It was killing me LOL.

Padma Avatar

Haul- I bought hourglass ambient lighting palette and mood exposure blush from Net-a-Porter. I saw a 15% discount coupon online and it worked. Otherwise was not planning to get these until sephora sale. Very happy about the discount!!
Weekend plans -going for swimming with my kids.
Last dessert I had was Toblerone chocolate.

jaz Avatar

Haul : nothing
Plans: well…. it happens to be my birthday weekend so celebrating that
Last dessert: well I had some doughnuts this morning , and some brownie bites with ice cream earlier this week

Ginny Avatar

Haul: Nothing, but I am looking into buying some RCMA foundation (the single that comes in a pot). Has anyone tried it?
Weekend Plans: Nothing, really, which means watching movies 🙂
Last Dessert: Chocolate chip cookies. We had a really cold snap/snow storm last weekend and I was DYING for chocolate chip cookies but couldn’t drag myself out of the house to buy some. On the third day of my “condition” I broke down and made some.

Rachel R. Avatar

Haul: em Michelle Phan The Valentine Life Mini in Secret Admirer (redeemed Ipsy points & got for free), plus my Ipsy bag.

Weekend plans: My son’s birthday party was supposed to be tomorrow, but he’s had a nasty virus all week, so we postponed it to next weekend. So I’ll be taking care of him, most likely.

What was the last dessert you had? On Valentine’s Day I had a crème brûlée.

Rachel R. Avatar

My son thanks you for the birthday wishes. He’s been doing a little better the last couple of days, but is still pretty ill. He’ll be 21 on Wednesday, and I’d hate for him to feel rotten.

I managed to snag the Wet n Wild highlighters. I went in Walgreen’s to pick up meds for my son, and my favorite cashier took me straight to the display. She knows me so well.

Anne Avatar

Haul: I went by Nordstrom to pick up the two Jo Malone Herb Garden collection colognes I had pre-ordered (Nasturtium & Clover, which smells exactly like my garden back in California, and Lavender & Coriander, and if I had the budget I would have also gotten the Sorrel & Lemon Thyme one but alas that was not to be), and while I was there I got a Clinique Pop Glaze lipstick in 09 Licorice as I’d wanted to try out the formula, as well as the Licorice lip liner. I also ordered the Burberry No. 02 Nude Gold Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Highlighting Palette and a Nars foundation pump.

Weekend plans: Rest up from the 2 vet (yearly appointments and both kitties got a clean bill of health) and 1 doc appointment (another dead end) I had which ruined my neck a bit.

What was the last dessert you had?: A Raspberry & Rose macaron. It was okay. I’ve had better but it’s Portland so aside from donuts nothing is fantastic here in the dessert department.

Also OMG Mellan is giving you the cutest eyes in those picture!

Karla Avatar

I managed to order the burberry white HL when came back in stock at sephora, will be here next monday yaaayy!!!
Clean up, do some laundry, take the kids to the park.
Homemade chocolate molten lava cake?

Nicole Avatar

Christine, I feel like a Temptalia app would be a good thing for you and us. Just a thought for you in the future 🙂
Haul: Tom Ford as NM had their beauty event and I always like their GWP as they tend to supply a nice tote and decent deluxe samples. So, I got 5 of the Patent lip polishes, Disco Dust quad, Moss liner, and Forbidden Pink in the original lipstick formula. Other things: CT magic eye wand in #2, a couple more Sephora gel lip liners (love!), Armani’s new primer( UV 50) . I just spotted this when I was picking up the right shade of the Armani glow foundation. I had to swap out the foundation for the right shade. But, it was out in the store. So, I’m without it for a few days! 🙁 Loving it along with the new YSL Touche Eclat.I got both of those in AZ. But, I do prefer the original TE to this formula for the look. But, this one wears longer, IMO. I picked up samples today of the LM Candle Glow and Becca’s glow foundation too! I’m loving these glowy foundations! I need to get to Ulta to try the Stila formula. Oh, and I found all 3 LE WNW highlighters that were reviewed earlier this week right up the street at Walgreens for $4.99 each! Score! 😀
Weekend Plans: We are having a “warm snap” we hit 60 today! with some crazy wind gusts. But the winds are supposed to settle tomorrow. So,hoping to get out tomorrow. But, rain and cold is supposed to come back Sun., So, Ill use that day to do the chores and me and Chloe DVR’ed the Grammys so we could watch them together. So, that’s that.
Last desert’ Ice cream-vanilla! last night! Almost every night! I can’t chew anything harder than cheese due to TN pain. So, I live pretty much on mashed potatoes and ice cream. It does get old and the novelty wears off. So, this is the reason not all bakery workers are overweight!lol..I’m not either, just fyi.
Does anyone have the Anastasia cream contour kit? I bought one a few weeks ago and used it once and can’t figure it out. I’m reading all these glowing reviews. Any tips anyone???

Nicole Avatar

IDK if it’s possible or not? But. often while I’m out and about, I think it would be less time consuming to access an app that would allow us to search categories of your reviews ( and readers reviews if possible) directly somehow. Just food for thought. 🙂
I’ll keep you posted on the foundations!
Thank you for you for your well wishes. 🙂

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Nicole, how did you find your shade match for CT’s eye wand? I’ve been quite curious about this product but need the right shade as her retoucher is too light – but I notice she almost always uses a second, darker retoucher in her videos. I’m enjoying samples of her eye cream and curious if her Magic Foundation might help diminish dark circles, among other things. I don’t have a CT counter near me.

Nicole Avatar

Tracey,
There is no counter near me either! So, I basically guessed on this and luckily, it worked out! I ordered from Nordstrom’s too. So, I knew I could return if I had to.
On CT website she has a chart with a photo of different sets of eyes that represent the skin tones that would match with each pen roughly ( I believe, this is also on Nordstrom’s site as well). It was a toss up between #2 and #3 for me honestly. But, since I wanted it for mostly brightening under the eyes and #3 looked almost orange ( like it could be a corrector for me). I didn’t care for her regular concealer either. Not enough coverage for concealer for me. Hope that helped some! Lmk if you have any other questions!

Erin Avatar

Haul: Nothing yet but I really want like 7 million lipsticks. UD and Bite of course. I’m still under the don’t spend money edict due to my hubs messing up. Which I love cause he’s gone out and bought several things for himself like new running shoes and several shirts. True he’s in AZ right not and it’s way warmer than what he packed for his trip but still… GRRRR. I NEED LIPSTICK!

Weekend Plans: TV catch up, dog park, and cleaning.

Dessert: Hmmm, I think it was Key Lime Cheezecake from Daiya! It’s vegan and it’s fracking awesome!

Vanessa Avatar

Haul: What I bought- Milani Lash Extension Fibers Mascara, Versace Bright Crystal travel size, Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Moscow, L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Golden Emerald and Endless Sea, E.L.F. Instant Brow Pencil in Deep Brown, L.A. Splash Lip Lustre in Catrina and a backup in Sangre Azul. What I was given- Becca Backlight Priming Filter, Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Glitter Glue, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, Bite Matte Crayon in Blanc, Bumble and Bumble Curl Primer, and Formula X Nail Polish in Girl’s Best Friend.

Weekend Plans: I was thinking about starting a blog. I’ve been lucky to have a job where I’m given free makup, so I figured, I can help others with what to buy with their hard-earned money. Christine, your blog is one of my biggest inspirations and help and I love how you’re very honest and impartial; That’s something I hope I can acomplish. Even if I only help one person, it will all be worth it. ?

What was the last dessert you had? I don’t eat dessert after dinner in the tradional sense, more when I feel like it, but I just bought (and ate) a bag of Reese’s Candy and PB M&M’s because they were on sale from Valentine’s Day ?

Vanessa Avatar

Also, is it just me or has anyone had any problems with the Nyx Soft Matte Creams? When I tried out mine, if felt like there was harldy any product in the tube. I swatched it on my hand and lips and it was so sheer. I tried to built it up but the brush would wipe it all away. The only way I could get it to kind of build up is to scrape the bottle and apply it thickly. I bought mine online from Ulta and I threw away the box, plastic seal and reciept before trying it. At least it was cheap, but I’m still so bummed. ?

Nancy T Avatar

I love those big, gentle puppy-dog eyes! XO’s to Mellan?

Haul: Two different eyebrow wax sticks, one by Nyx, the other by Essence….BUT they are not for my brows! My hope is that one will work at making MAC The Fashion Flock not giving me a crackhead look, per a suggestion from a MAC MUA who had me give it a try with theirs and it actually made it look way better. Crazy, huh?

Weekend plans: Same old, same old. Gotta do my hair torture routine. Possibly my nails, Neve still looks pretty good! Bake a GF Pumpkin bread/cake. Meeting on Sunday.

Last dessert you had: Homemade GF banana nut bread. Yep, it lasted me this long, LoL!

Nancy T Avatar

It sounded very bizarre to me too when the MUA had me try it! Only catch was, that while yes it did work using MAC’s brow wax, it didn’t work with the other brands! The trick to MAC’s brow wax, is that it does something to prevent lipstick from gathering into the lines and creases of ones lips. Not sure what is different about THEIR wax, though? I probably should have just bought it, but it sounded ridiculous to spend that much for something to make one stinking lipstick work, ya know? I’d rather just get a better version of lipstick in that shade!

Nicole Avatar

OH! Have you ever used Urban Decay’s Ozone..the fatter version? Basically,it’s a clear lip liner. I get ya. if you aren’t into lining, i would just go for a better lipstick. it’s not like there is a shortage.

Nancy T Avatar

I think that The Fashion Flock was just never going to work on me. Well, unless I bought their own brow wax, which worked like nothing else. Probably ought to have bought that instead of returning TFF. But I just figured, brow wax is brow wax, so why spend so much on one that’ll only get used with TFF lipstick?!? I don’t mind lining my lips, but that whole thing with TFF drove me bananas, so I gave up. But hey, I now have UD Streak, which gives me that color, but in a much, much better formula! ?

Susan Parker Avatar

Haul: Laura Mercier highlighter in 01 and Too Face bronzer in Endless Summer. Both are absolutely perfect for my very pale skintone (NC15).! I also bought 8 nail polishes in pastel shades from a few Indie polish sellers.
Future haul: nothing. Unlessss a great quality, great price, drop dead gorgeous, limited edition eyeshadow palette, in a variety of pastel shades (preferably in a matte finish), is released for summertime. BWAHAHA…. I won’t hold my breath waiting!
Weekend plans: stay glued to my sofa all day Saturday; spend time with my son – at his place – because I apparently don’t go out enough.
Last dessert: 1 blueberry and 1 apple pie from McDonald….don’t judge me! Lol

Tracey E. Avatar

Mellan, so cute just hanging out!

Haul: Tom Ford Honeymoon quad, Spinx eye cream, and Paradiso lipstick (should have all by mid-March). Also pre-ordered Golden Peach eye shadow & cream duo.

Weekend: Enjoy warmer weather!

Dessert: I couldn’t resist pastel colored Junior Mints!

Pearl Avatar

Such a sweet face, Mellan!

Ordered and waiting on 2 Becca highlighters in Opal and Moonstone coming next week!
Weekend plans: Visiting my parents on Saturday, gym, church and then maybe brunch on Sunday followed by grocery shopping and cooking for the week.
What was the last dessert you had?: I always have a tub in the pantry of high quality dark chocolate (partly because I’m a snob and mostly because higher cocoa content=less sugar=I can have more= less guilt) that I graze from, but other than that it was homemade yellow cake and homemade chocolate buttercream frosting.

Update for the MUG contour Bad Habit: You only need a little bit as it’s nicely pigmented and a dab with a brush is all that is needed – anymore than just a light touch or tap with a brush to pick up the powder and there is a whole lot of excess. Kevyn Aucoin is still my ultimate because it’s a bit more ashy-neutral but I do like this – it’s just a smidgen warmer and lighter in color. Even though it can be powdery, I don’t mind it because I figure it’s just a learning curve with how to handle the brush as far as getting the amount needed on the brush vs. causing powdery excess.

Mellan looks all day-dreamy. =)

Haul: I finally got my order straightened out and received two of the mini nail polish/lipstick duos from KVD (Sexer and Mercy). In other orders, I received the Cinema Secrets Ultralucent setting powder and the Marc Jacobs Highliner in shade Jazz(berry). I feel like I’m forgetting something.

Weekend plans: My husband is redoing my vanity and painting the master bathroom. My makeup is packed in several boxes, and in drawers we’ve removed from the vanity, and is sitting in various locations throughout the master bedroom. It was a nightmare trying to get ready yesterday, especially since my vanity lighting was removed! Once it’s finished (by Sunday night!) I’ll have more storage room and new lighting fixtures. I’ll be helping him with the painting and, once that’s finished, I’ll be organizing some of my makeup into new, built-in storage units.

What was the last dessert you had?: Triple-chocolate cheesecake on my son’s birthday.

Nope, no follow button. I’ve had my daughter in here looking with me, to make sure I’m not completely overlooking something, and neither of us can find a follow button anywhere on another user’s profile. =(

Cat Avatar

Okay, I’m not losing my mind! LOL That button does not exist on anyone’s profile (for me). I’m looking at your profile right now and there is only the “SHARE A LOOK” button with nothing next to it. Very odd.

Cat Avatar

It will be! Sadly, it won’t be completed until next weekend. The drywall plaster has to completely dry before we can paint. At least that gives me some time to find a new lighting fixture.

Drunk Elephant Shabba Complex Eye Serum. Tried it for the first time today. It seemed moisturizing but not heavy or greasy – absorbed immediately. The delivery system is fantastic! The perfect amount can be dispensed, so no waste and no cross contamination from dipping into a pot. I appreciate that it’s unscented. My skin and eyes are sensitive and fragrance tends to be irritating. To me, the consistency seemed more like a lotion than a serum. I don’t have a problem with that, but thought it was worth mentioning. To date, I’ve loved every DE product purchased.

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Bonnie, am curious about this product and brand. Would you nd sharing what issues you are wanting to treat and what the product does for you? I have a Clarins eye cream that helps with puffiness but doesn’t seem to help with redness or dark circles.

Bonnie Avatar

Hi Tracey, I bought the DE serum to moisturize skin around the eyes. I needed something non greasy and fragrance & irritant free. I haven’t been using it long enough to comment on dark circles, but I’m hopeful.

KJH Avatar

DE seems to be the only brand Paula B’s team gives straight max star ratings on all products….other than their own, of course. All class A formulations. No fragrance, no irritants. Your knowledge and good taste are showing!

I love Mellan’s big doggie paws! I’m a little obsessed with paws.

Haul: My Edward Bess order from Neiman Marcus arrived – Blush in Secret Affair (I have Moroccan Rose and I love it, so I had to try another color), Illuminating Eyeshadow Base, Hair Hero, highlighter in Sunlight, and the Sun and Stars eyeshadow quad as GWP, so that was pretty cool. Still haven’t received the Tom Ford quad in Honeymoon, must be on back-back-order! I also took advantage of the perfume promotions at Sephora and Ulta: DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Fragrance Collection Gift Set, Dior J’adore Hair Mist, Narciso Rodriguez for her Hair Mist, Roses de Chloe, Givenchy Ange Ou Demon le Secret, and Marc Jacobs Splash Cotton. I had previously gotten the MJ Pear Splash, thinking my husband would like it since it shared notes with his favorite perfume on me, Burberry Brit. But he didn’t like it all. So back it went. The Splash Cotton is for me, though! 🙂

Weekend plans: Volunteering at Humane Society, nephew’s birthday party.

What was the last dessert you had?: Rolled Florentine cookie filled with cream!

Haul: Shu Umera Miracle Worker spray (repurchase — wonderful coconut oil-based detangling spray/leave-in conditioner/defrizzer/heat protectant) from my salon; from a Sephora stop, NARS Impassioned blush and Kari dual-intensity eyeshadow (even though it’s not my usual kind of color — pink near my eyes doesn’t usually work well — for some reason I think this one might be good as a light wash on a quick and subtle eye look day — we’ll see), and a 110-point perk sample of the new Bite lipstick formula in Radish, a deep magenta — hopefully this formula won’t bleed at the corners of my mouth. I actually traded in my Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani lipsticks because they were doing that — beautiful colors — thought about getting the matching lip liners instead — but, truth is, I don’t want to have to fuss with my lipstick that much most days, and there are plenty of lipsticks that I don’t have to fuss with. Since I’ve started using AHAs and retinol on my arms and hands, I need a hand cream with sunscreen that I can stand to wear (doesn’t feel sticky on my hands), so I asked for and got samples of Supergoop Forever Young hand cream and body butter and Deborah Lippman Rich Girl hand cream to try out before I but something to wear once I stop wearing gloves in the spring. Books: Way Bandy’s Designing Your Face and Styling Your Face and Alison Lurie’s The Language of Clothes (all out of print, purchased used copies via amazon).
Weekend plans: read my new books and get used to my new progressive eyeglasses while doing so! Go for some long walks — the weather is a bit warmer; and visit a friend’s sick friend if she’s home from the hospital, to try to help persuade her to accept a little help (tough assignment, that one).
Dessert: the last of the homemade oatmeal/coconut/pecan cookies with a scoop of Zsa’s peppermint bark ice cream (a yummy local product).

Ack! It’s called Wonder Worker, not Miracle Worker! I was really tired this morning, lol. Hair is really individual, but my salon was out of stock for a while and the owner said (as I was buying a replacement and a back-up) that it’s a very popular product that they have a hard time keeping on the shelves. Since my hair is waist-length), my ends get dry and very tangle-prone. I can spray this on my damp or dry hair as often as I need to without weighing it down, and it helps keep the ends soft and tangle-free. Silicones tend to act as dust magnets in my hair, and dimethicone is on the ingredients list, but it’s listed well after ‘parfum’, and that tiny amount doesn’t cause me any difficulties. Here’s the manufacturer’s description of it:

“Air dry/blow dry primer with 7 instant benefits that prep the hair for any style: Instantly hydrates, detangles, smoothes, conditions, boosts radiance, tames frizz, and adds silkiness to all hair types. When sprayed before a blow dry, the primer locks in moisture and tames strands for a smooth finish. When used to air dry strands, the formula enhances the hair’s natural texture.”

It plays well with my other styling products (mostly Living Proof and a couple of Bumble & Bumble).

Fran, If you’re not, you can sign up for Shu Uemura Art of Hair website. They always have all kinds of specials and deals. I love all things Shu and really wish it was more accessible stateside.

I hope you like the Lippmann hand creme. I had bought it last year and while I think it did a good job by way of SPF, the smell was off-putting to me. I think it’s just something you either love or hate. Not sure your reason for the retinol, etc. on your hands, but I started using the Aveda Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum and am really pleased with the results. It does have the typical Aveda fragrance to it (so again, it may be a love or hate). I got mine from Nordstrom but it would be available in any salon that carries Aveda.

Fran Avatar

Thanks, Michele. My salon carries the products, but so far this is the only one I’ve really gotten into. I really like Living Proof products because silicones just act as dust magnets for my hair, and I don’t like to wash it more than I have to because I keep it waist-to-hip length, and washing is hard on the ends.

I’ll probably get a chance to try the Aveda product soon because I’m planning on starting an esthetician program at a Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in April 🙂 I actually have never tried any Aveda products — can’t use anything with fragrance (including most essential oils) on my face because of my rosacea, but the skin on my hands isn’t as picky.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Oh my gosh – I want your hair! 🙂

How exciting – good luck with the program! Yes, Aveda is pretty fragranced and, as you know, they’re big into essential oils. The serum I was referring to is supposed to plump fine lines, moisturize, and reduce dark spots. The fragrance in it is orange, lavandin and eucalyptus. Keep us updated on how you’re doing when you start the program!

Fran Avatar

Thanks for your good wishes 🙂 I love the scents of essential oils, just can’t use them on my face. Using AHA, retinol, vitamins C and E on arms and hands due to sagging skin and a few dark spots (I’ll turn 60 this summer) — it’s helped on my face, hopefully it will help on my arms/hands, too.

I do love it that my hair will grow long — which it does partly because it doesn’t break, which is partly because I don’t do chemical treatments, am just gradually going gray naturally, so I’ve got white streaks in dark brown hair — but it went through a thinning phase, and I somehow lost more on the left than on the right, so it looks odd if I part it in the middle, lol. I just try to subject it to as little wear and tear as possible, and deep condition, especially the ends, a lot. Saturating it with coconut oil for anywhere from five minutes to a couple of hours before washing it definitely seems to help it stay in good shape.

When I got progressive bifocals, I felt kind of queasy. LSS: at least for non-reading, look with your head, not just with your eyes. Driving is easy, but glancing down at 8 or 4 is a bit icky. So point your head at 8 and 4, don’t just glance down, leaving your head in the same position. Work on stairs, if you’re tall. Many tall folks have problems with depth perception on stairs. That style of lens was wonderful for school, when you had to look at the board/ overhead, the down to your notebook. 15-20 years later, if I’m sitting up, I use them to read, but lying down, I use no glasses at all. I don’t think I’m getting bifocals next time. One pair of distance, and if they are a hassle, one pair of progressives. And no more transitions lenses. Everywhere I need them, the windows are tinted, and that defeats the technology. Geeky clip ons for me. My optician said 30% of people never adjust to progressive lenses, so I thought I’d tell you what I figured out.

Fran Avatar

Thanks for the tips, KJH. I actually had progressives once before, and didn’t like them, even though I wore them for a couple of years, so I know what I’m in for; but in the near future (both going back to school and then doing treatments as an esthetician), it will be really inconvenient for me to switch constantly back and forth between two different pairs of glasses, which is what I have to do otherwise at this point if I want to see really clearly (I can read a book, especially an ebook, OK without glasses, but my near vision is poor enough at this point that everything that’s at about arm’s length — computer screens, cooking, etc. — is a real struggle without glasses), so I decided to give them another try. I suppose I may end up with three pairs of glasses, but that’s a huge expense, so I hope these work.
