If you could head up one existing brand for a day, which brand would it be?

MAC, because I’ve been curious FOR YEARS on how they determine what to repromote/never repromote, why certain formulas never make a return, how they determine stock to produce, and so forth.

Definitely MAC! I would bring back all of my favorite lipsticks, lipgloss, eyeshadows & purple eyeliner (It was from the Catherine Deneuve or the Raquel Welch collection but I lost it and can’t remember the name of it) and i would name it “Utterly Becoming” after my favorite HG Paint Pot which would also be part of the collection.

Ooooo. I had a matte peach blush from the Raquel Welch collection that was my all time favorite. I think it’s the only time I have ever used an entire compact.

Wendy, are you talking about the blush powder Peaceful? That is my favorite MAC blush product ever, it’s the only blush I’ve ever hit pan on (thanks for reminding me that I still own it (I’m going to wear it tomorrow).
Yes, I would add Peaceful to my Utterly Becoming collection.

Same here! I would love to know what’s going on with MAC. I feel like they are always drowning us with wave after wave of mediocre collections, then all at once, they come out with great stuff like Alluring Aquatics, Extra Dimension shadows, Color Drenched Pigments, etc. For that one day, I would fire all the people responsible for mediocre products ( MAC eye gloss, Carbon shadows in every kit), promote the truly creative people who care about quality, and bring back some of the beloved LE items that were discontinued.

T.Leclerc – a very consistent, high quality, old French makeup brand that I’d bring out of the pharmacy and into the mainstream. They have great colors, textures, and good products across product lines. Rare to find one company that does almost everything very well.

Apparently, I’m not the only one that has had about a gazillion questions for MAC! Their constant changing things up, shaking things up is MADDENING. I’d love to take the reins for a day and try to inject some stability and common sense into their corporate powers that be. Why do they axe customer faves??? Why so many dayum LE collex coming out like Run DMC??? Why aren’t ALL the matte eyeshadows in the silky perfection of Matte2??? (Right now I wish I had Jenny Cupcakes avatar!!!)?
And yet, I continue to by their stuff. Because despite my whining and moaning, I still love most of their stuff.

So I have three and purely for selfish reasons.
Tom Ford so I can bring back Cognac Sable.
Nars so I can bring back Douceur.
Cle de Peau so I can bring back my perfect 203 shade in the lip luminizers.

I would choose Anastasia Beverly Hills. While cancer continues to be the focus with everyone, I would use my day to bring awareness to Huntingtons disease. I have it and this disease has gone back in our family for as long as i know. It’s a rare brain disease that causes someone’s brain cells to die. The disease progression is about 10 – 20 years. Its similar to Parkinson’s and can cause dementia in the latter stages of the disease. People usually die of pneumonia cause there’s a lot of choking involved. People die from complications from the disease. The disease causes involuntary movements called chorea. People end up in nursing homes because their families can no longer care for them. . Suicidss are common with this disease because it makes people very depressed and there’s no cure so they don’t want to be a burden to their families. My sister and grandmother also committed suicide. I would maybe create makeup that the proceeds could go towards the research for the cure. Or to help families dealing with the disease.

Hmmmm, Derma E actually! They’re one of the very few skincare brands that works for my skin and I’d love to know how they operate behind the scenes.

Even though it’s my question, I’m having a tough time choosing! Different brands keep coming up for different reasons. I’d love to head up Guerlain for a day to go through their historical archives of magical fragrances and see the process behind creating Rouge G tubes (plus releasing some wonderful, offbeat shades). NARS because Francois is a genius and learning everything I could from him would be amazing. MAC to discover their secrets and mysteries (like Christine I want to know about their process for picking formulas, discontinuing, development, etc). Tom Ford to work with him and play with everything. And MUFE because they are the masters of makeup education and that would be a day of constant learning and releasing even more colors and sfx goodies.

MAC – like Christine! I want to know what’s going on inside. And….I really want to know their profit margins, what really sells and who sets their customer base. And it would be fascinating to see the products being produced wouldn’t it?

I’d prefer sitting in to watch multiple brands. If companies have things ready years in advance like you said: there must be a part we don’t see which makes so many conveniently alike or rumored LE. Like I said about ColourPop quad shown yesterday. Felt wrong. I want to see WHAT exactly is controlling the industry total.

My current sassy-salty answer is Bite, because I just tried out the new Amuse Bouche line replacing my beloved Luminous Creme and it was downright DRY on me. I had my Sephora girls dig out all the pulled product in the back so I could stock up. My real answer is Tarte, because their products seem to be just perfect for my combo complexion, but as everyone complains their palette releases are so similar and there are no individual eyeshadows. I’d like to get them to branch out a little so I can keep accidentally doing a whole face of Tarte on days where I don’t want my eye look to be brown or purple.

Kat Von Dee. Just to spend a day with her. What a treat. She is an artist who works with a make up medium. I could learn to let goof any inhibitions with make up. ( I’m 56 so while I am adventurous I know my boundaries). What a hoot.
