OMG, I need Chocolate Cherries, but it looks kind of thick, like fudge on a sundae. And I’m a total sucker for shimmer, so Melted Frozen Hot Chocolate, too. Do these taste or smell like chocolate??? OMG, I would go through a tube a week!
yes, i have one and it smells like their cocoa powder bronzer, which is made with real cocoa.
I’m so excited for these! However I’m probably going to wait to swatch them in person, I just find it hard to envision which one would look best on me. I think Too Faced really did a good job with their “spring” collection launch!
Kind of need Chocolate Cherries
and I’m really liking Metallic Hot Chocolate!
Chocolate Cherries and Frozen Hot Chocolate are my favorites, but I kind of want them all. Beautiful collection!
That chocolate cherries is the perfect vampy shade! Too bad these melted lipsticks bleed on me like crazy which is weird because other lipsticks don’t bleed on my lips.
I have an off topic question for you, Christine. I used to be so excited about makeup products. I was just obsessed with colors and textures and finding the best quality.
But now that I have amassed a good size collection of everything, I don’t have the interest that I had before in trying new products. I find that so many new products are pretty much the same in color and texture as what I already have.
It made think of you because you have been doing this for a while and you have tested SO many products! Are you still excited when you get products or does that only happen with a few? If it’s only a few which ones get you the most excited and why?
For me, there is only one product which still interests me: foundation. I’m obsessed with skin because I had acne for years. Foundation technology has come a long way and for people with good skin there are perfect foundations for them.
But people with texture issues or acne still struggle. I still cannot find a foundation other than Laura powder that doesn’t clog my pores. But I don’t like powder foundations. So I still get excited when I see a new foundation. Sorry this is long.
I love what I do, actually! There is always something new to look forward to, so there’s always some excitement! 🙂
Hi Abir!
If you have problems with bleeding lipstick you can always try using lipliner first, then applying lipstick. That sometimes works 🙂
Wish I could help with the foundation too but I use a powder foundation by lily lolo that i really like and works for me….
Thank you! I will try it out.
Chocolate Cherries looks beautiful!
OMG!!!! Well, I can totally forget my plan to go on a low buy after the Holidays! I love them all! I adore the melted lipsticks! Oh geez, if these smell like chocolate, that will be a total sensory pick me-up. I could really use that some days. But, again some people dislike chocolate. I totally don’t get that though. 🙂
So, all this new spring stuff is going into the permanent line? I’m kinda confused.
HA HA HA I had to laugh at your comment “I can totally forget my plan to go on a low buy after the Holidays”. I don’t know how cosmetic companies can keep coming out with new must-have stuff like they do. You’d think since I already have at least 4000 shades of lipstick, how can there possibly be one I don’t already have?!
When I first started really getting into the beauty world like I am now, I kept waiting for a break from the releasing of new stuff. It just never happened- and still has not! 🙂
LOL! I keep telling myself to go on a low buy, but every time I say that, those darn companies come out with some new irresistible product, so it’s like that diet that starts tomorrow 😉
Good comparison Katherine! I think I’ve been saying it for a few years now! Lol.
Ooooh, Chocolate Cherries, Chocolate Diamonds and Frozen Hot Chocolate!!! ?
Well, as long as there’s nothing wonky with the ingredients, that is….and, yes, I’m worried about that.?
Chocolate Cherries is soooo beautiful! I like candy bar too! xx
I love Chocolate Cherries! So far I’ve only tried Melted Marshmallow and the stay power was lacking. I hope these are better. 🙂
Yummy!!
Chocolate!!! Wow!!
They’re pretty. I bet I will end up with at least one of these!
This isn’t what I expected at all. I thought these would be more like the KVD lolita colors, or the Kylie Jenner browns…
But sparkles are nice
I’ve never wanted to lick someone else’s lips until now, haha! Those colours are gorgeous 🙂
I absolutely love the Too Faced Melted lipsticks. Question though – has anyone had trouble with them separating in the tube? If I haven’t used one in a while and then squeeze it, I’ll either get a paste of pure pigment or a sludge of the silky binder. They’re really hard to shake up b/c when you squeeze it, a little oozes out. Any suggestions?????
I’ll be very interested if someone has an answer to this- it’s the reason why I will not buy any more of these.
I’ve had that happen with some of the shades. I lightly knead the tubes with the cap on. Sometimes a little binder with come out a first, so I just wipe it off the applicator, and then they’re good to go.
I got Chocolate Milkshake and Chocolate Honey and YES…..they smell like chocolate!
I think these look and sound exciting. I find it hard to come across any true browns in makeup collections when it comes to lipsticks and glosses. There’s always too much red in them making them more reds than browns.
However, I’ve been wanting to say this for awhile…I wish that on this site there was a dark-skinned (brown) model you could use alongside your reviewed swatches to show how many of these products would look on dark skin. How these products would look on dark skin (the color of milk chocolate or deep wood brown) is very different than how they would look on lighter skin (white women, lighter Asians and Latinas and fairer black women).
So, in a sense, it’s a suggestion I have for the site as a longtime fan and avid reader.
I’m sorry, I am only one person! I am the only person who takes photos, swatches, writes, and handles the business end, and then I have my brother-in-law and my husband who handle with the technical aspects of the site. The cost of hiring a model and the logistics (I spend 60-80 hours on the blog per week) are not feasible for me, unfortunately. I have looked into trying to get skin-like medical devices in other skin tones, but I have been unsuccessful thus far. I’m really sorry that I’m not the right skin tone to be helpful for you!
You’re a good model, Christine, being in the spectrum of “medium” tone. When I first started following you I bought a few things that looked great on you and ended up looking not so great on me, but then I learned how to guesstimate by checking your dupe list and really staring at the product photos lol. Your consistency in lighting when photographing the products themselves is one of the most helpful things about the site.
Thanks, Ginny! That’s actually what I strive for – consistency! And I do think that in general, if you follow any blogger/YouTuber for swatches or reviews, it’s a good idea to look at how products you own and they own look, and then make adjustments (like you have) there.
Exactly 🙂
Christine – I want to re-iterate what Ginny said in that you a wonderful model! You have a good medium skin tone, symmetrical features (a universal sign of beauty!), and I LOVE that you have a lip freckle and how this helps demonstrate the opacity of a lip product. I also want to thank you for the time (and money!) you put into this blog which so many of us rely upon for advice, reviews, recommendations, you name it! I’m sure you have site/page counters running in the background, but that doesn’t take into consideration any old-fashioned word-of-mouth communication which may result based upon your information, so we can’t truly measure your overall impact. Thank you so much for the service you provide, which I have relied upon countless times, and know that you are appreciated!
When I expressed a suggestion, it was not meant as a slight against your skin tone (as you don’t need to apologize for your coloring), and/or your great efforts and investments in your site.
As I mentioned, I’ve been a fan of your site for a long while, so I would hope that implies a sincere and friendly agenda. I read your site for information on new MU products, reviews, and more, so it is still helpful and resourceful. But it’s natural to not always be sure of how something will look or appear on darker skin, even with an extensive makeup collection of one’s own to compare to. Try to think of it from that point of view. There’d be no need for swatching in any context, product testers in stores and the like, if not.
And it is easy for those with lighter skin (speaking in general about anyone reading who might wrongly see my initial comment as judgmental or whiny) to feel used to having a lot of product reviews favor their skin coloring, even if they might have different undertones.
My comment was merely a suggestion for ways of eventually reaching out more to this very large and likely diverse audience that you have. There might be some women who’d model on your site for free. Many have come to rightfully and respectfully see your site as more than a amateur or hobbyist blog meant for a tiny and quaint audience, so in that vein, I didn’t think you’d feel on the defense. If I am not mistaken, it -seems- that way from your response (first sentence and the last, specifically).
Hi Ally,
Thanks for the feedback! I totally understand the benefit, and I have very much attempted to find a viable way to do so, but I have not come across one that would work. I think I must not have communicated myself clearly in my response to you, as I definitely see the benefits, but I wanted to be transparent that it’s not something that is feasible at this time. I would not want to set an expectation that it could happen, when I very much know that it is not in the cards any time soon. This is something I regularly look at the end of each year to see if there is room for something like this.
I have looked into skin prosthetics in non-white skin tones, but I have come up empty – I have reached out to a few companies over the years, but I think my request must be really creepy to them as I never get a response back, LOL! (This would let me swatch on-demand without worrying about it being 11PM at night or for that hot new product that just arrived on my doorstep without warning, and obviously have a lower cost!) I have considered taking darker foundation and using that to at least show the contrast, but I fear this would be construed negatively (and I can understand why). There is also the issue that foundation will act as a type of primer, so it may help inferior products look better than they are.
I do not think it is fair to expect someone to work for free, especially not for something like this that would really require significant commitment (it’s not like it’s one hour a week). I also work from home, so someone needs to be adequately compensated so that there are appropriate incentives in the process — not valuing someone’s time and effort leads to poor work relationships, and since this is my home, that is not something I need to worry about (I have been stalked twice previously). I have to be very comfortable with whoever would come into my personal space. You are also less likely to get someone who is reliable and consistent, and you certainly wouldn’t get someone willing to show up at any hour, whenever needed!
I have no issue with the suggestion, and it is something that I regularly look into but continue to find it to be outside of the realm of possibility at this time. I would rather explain to you why not, because I had thought that would be the best thing to do, but perhaps that was the wrong decision! I did not take offense at all.
Hi Christine,
Thanks so much for your reply. It definitely puts everything into better perspective for me.
I can agree that if you used a model other than yourself, it would be best to compensate that model. That makes sense, especially if they are driving to your home and spending hours with you on shots.
Jackie Aina on YouTube did a swatch video for this. Check it out
Frozen Hot Chocolate is tempting, though it looks warmer than I’d like. It seems the brown lip trend will be continuing in the spring.
None of these are for me but Chocolate Cherries is beautiful!
I want Frozen Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Diamonds! The kinds I don’t own at all. :3c
Those are some pretty colors! Honestly, my first thought was that Chocolate Cherries looks a lot like Nyx Liquid Suede Cherry Skies? Although now that I’ve got it swatched on my hand, Chocolate Cherries does look browner. I think this launch is kind of interesting. It really doesn’t make me think of spring. It feels like a wintery-Christmas theme to me. Still, it’s nice to see a more brown themed launch for lip colors. My favorite from the list is Chocolate Honey. Gorgeous!
I ordered choc cherries omg it’s gorgeous! I can’t wait to wear it!
Chocolate cherries looks amazing! Sadly, I don’t like the formula of the melted lipsticks. :/
I’ve been so into brown lipsticks lately this is like made for me. Especially chocolate cherries … so cool
Of course, all of these shades seem really flattering and pretty. But is it normal for the metallics be so sheer? They seem more like top-coats or lazy day lip colors; which granted is exactly what some want, but maybe not for the price. That’s probably just me being all negative though. I’d rather sheer something out than try to build it up. Again, just personal preference.
So pretty, Christine. I defintely want chocolate cherries, honey, and milkshake.
Frozen hot chocolate looks pretty. I hope these are permanent because I am starting a low buy soon
Chocolate cherries looks amazing ???
Plus the rest look good too.
Wow!! I love these colors!!!
Loving Cherries! It looks like a perfect brown for autumn/winter. I’m not a fan of the Metallic formula though.
The first 3 ones are nice :)) unavailable here, though. 2 and 3 look like 2 shiny liquid lipsticks i got.
hmm, or they may be available here but at an inflated price 😀 i thought they’re occ, those are the ones we don’t get here.
does anyone know a dupe for chocolate cherries? I LOVE the colour and I want to wear it to a holiday party (but these won’t be out yet)
Hmm, gotta say I’m pretty surprised and disappointed they didn’t come out with a true brown, and perhaps some variations of brown! Even if they did want to include some glitter shades. With a line like “chocolate”, they made a vanilla decision.
