Charlotte Tilbury On the Prowl + Supernova Nocturnal Cat Eyes to Hypnotise ($39.00 for 0.08 oz.) consists of a deep, taupe brown eyehadow paired with a violet eyeliner. The eyeshadow is the better of the two products. Here’s hoping that Charlotte Tilbury will sell the products individually some day.

On the Prowl is described as an “antique aubergine.” It’s a dark, smoky taupe brown with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation with a really soft, blendable texture that was a little dry in the pan, but it didn’t look dry on the skin. The color wore well for close to eight hours before I noticed fading. Chanel Tisse Rhapsodie #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Dior Aventure (081) (P, $31.00) is darker (95% similar). Giorgio Armani #4 (DC, $33.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC 2x Dare #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Chanel Tisse Gabrielle #1 (PiP, ) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Sydney Grace Frosted Morning (P, $6.25) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Milani Bella Charcoal (11) (P, $4.49) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Vaporize (LE, $19.00) is lighter (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Eleganza (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Viseart Saint Germain (PiP, ) is cooler (85% similar). Dior Univers (655) (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Antique (LE, $12.00) is lighter (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Serpentine (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury The Huntress (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Dose of Colors Out and About (PiP, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Titus (LE, $4.50) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Supernova is described as a “smoky plum.” It’s a blackened purple base with lighter purple and violet sparkle. The consistency was drier, which resulted in a very dragged-out, uneven color that was sheer and hard to build-up. On me, what I managed to get on the skin did last for seven and a half hours with some sparkle fall out. MAC Permaplum (PiP, $16.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Aurora (Shade) (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Delinquent (DC, $22.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Sephora Phat Rock (P, $14.00) is darker (90% similar). Stila Purple Tang (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS Night Bird (P, $24.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Dragon Smoke (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Stix and Bones (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot (DC, $15.00) is cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Uh oh, I wonder if there are QC issues. I’ve seen a few reviews for On The Prowl, and they were positive for both the shadow and liner, so wonder if you got a bad liner. I also noticed that some of the shadow swatches look bronze brown (like the Huntress) and others look more like a smoky eggplant purple. It’s too bad there are no CT counters near me, so I can swatch away. Hmm, I think I might get The Huntress and Midnight Seduction. I like the shimmer, and the idea of that blackened base making it look like a pre-blended smoky eye.

This is the riduculosness to these! I love, love the shadow and totally would love the liner if it didn’t stink! I may wind up getting this one just because I love the shadow that much & I’m a push over for things like this. But,I could see the whole “sets “thing being a turn off got some people.

I’m with you Nancy! As much as I like this one and loved midnight seduction ( I think that was the shadow name ) I feel like forking over that much money by being coerced into getting a second way below par product is akin to robbery. I’m exaggerating saying robbery but Idk, unethical maybe? She charges so much anyway this just rubs me the wrong way. I don’t want to reward a company with my money on something like this. Maybe if enough people don’t cave they will start selling the two individually. It could happen right? RIGHT?!?! Hehehe

The pictures of the eye pencil are captioned ‘Sapphire’ instead of ‘Supernova’, fyi. I think it’s a odd combination to put together, bronze with blue, shame the eye pencil was so bad! I do like the dark metallic taupe eye you’ve created above, would have loved to see the blue eyeliner but at least there’re plenty of better dupes ?.

Dang, I love both the colors! That sucks about Supernova though. I saw it on other blogs and heard raves about it. I’m glad I wait for you as I trust you to be honest in your reviews and with a good explanation of why something is sub-par. You inspire a lot of purchases but you also keep me from waisting my money!

Genevieve Avatar

It seems like the eye shadows in the pan have been much better quality than the pencils. It would be great to purchase them individually, otherwise you are getting a pencil that is a dud or you won’t use.
This colour is very similar to The Huntress. They have all been beautiful colours and I love your eye looks.

I love these duos. I have the one you reviewed but my pencil is super creamy (all of them were when I swatched). Maybe you got a bad pencil batch? When still isn’t cool, but I’d hope it was that. 🙁

Ugh! I was really hoping this one would be better. I’m happy that the quality of the eye shadow is good, but I was expecting something much more purple than that. Not even really purple, just not…brown. Oh, well. Thank you so much for your review Christine! You saved me some money (and disappointment)! =)
