I really wish designers would get on board with releasing collections for skin tone: cool and warm. I would totally purchase a MJ collection at this price if all the shades were cools. But at this price point, it makes no sense when I wouldn’t use at least 2 -3 of the products in each collection.

As I hardly ever finish products, I LOVE mini sets where I can try different things at bargain price. I’ve been eyeing Blow for a while, and like 4 of the 5 lip colors. But it can be tricky applying these mini lipsticks without breaking the bullet

I haven’t forgotten about you! I just started testing Tisse Smoky yesterday, because I had to test other stuff first because the return period was expiring soon. Tisse Smoky has classic colors to make a beautiful smoky eye. All of the colors are soft satin shimmer, except the black is a satin, almost matte. All of the colors are smooth and apply well. 3 of the 4 colors perform well (the white, light silver, and black). The one that is a little iffy for me is the medium gray silver, as it tends to fade, but I have oily lids and this shade goes right above that oily spot, so it could be just me. But I’ve been testing over different primers and cream bases, and I definitely think I can make that shade work. You can go soft or build up for more drama–overall, I really like this kit! It’s the best one I’ve tried so far. I don’t recommend the Burberry Smokey Grey kit. I had to return that one because all 4 shades faded on me no matter what base I used, I couldn’t build it up, and they all tended to blend into 1 color on my lids. But if you like a very soft smokey eye, you might like that one. I had the same issues with the Guerlain Les Aciers smokey eye kit and had to return that one as well.

I’m sorry if that sounded pushy.Your so torough.I very much appreciate it! I was able to find one review by Sunny who posts on here quite often after I asked. She had good opinions about it too and did show it over a cream base. It was a dramatic look- Stunning. But one I’d keep for nights out, parties. I’m going to order it and try it with primers and maybe a cream,or paint pot. Neimans has a nice GWP if you hit $125 in all of beauty. I got their spring edition and was pleasntly surprised. I need a concealer and cleanser. So, I’ll hit that easily along with the palette. Also, since there are no Neiman Marcus in Ohio, no tax for me. On top of that, I think Ebates is offering the highest refund at 8%.Thanks for your sharing your thoughts. I hope you have a nice weekend.:)

Not at all Nicole! I know you’re probably anxious, as I’m not sure if Tisse Smokey is LE or not. If you have normal lids, I think you will be fine without primer or cream base, but mine are a total pain because they are oily, and one is hooded too. It took me almost 2 weeks to figure out the right combo of primers/cream bases to get Tisse Automne to work, and no one else seemed to have any issues with that palette. But Tisse Smoky can be applied lightly to get a softer smoky eye for daytime, or you can put it over a metallic cream base (like GA Eye Tint or LM Caviar Stick) to go dramatic for night look. Thanks for the tip on the NM deal ! Happy hauling!

Nicole Avatar

I’ve never layered a powder with the eye tints! Good idea! I just never thought it would work. I need to keep my eyes peeled for Lm caviar stick sets!
Tissee smoky is permanent . the other quad. ..Tisee jazz(?) is LE.

I agree!! I love that set and I’ve been waiting to rebuy hoping there would be a similar set this year. I guess if I hadn’t used mine up I’d be happy this was different but I loved everything about last year’s set. Although I do think the patent pouch is terrific! I’d totally rock that as a clutch.

Hmmm. I may get the lip sat as I have long wanted Blow and Infamous. Dashing sounds gorgeous as well. I can’t recall it off the bat. But I already have So Sofia and Boy Gorgeous which my sister would welcome. But, idk minis are not my favorite. This is a good deal for MJB lipsticks though and a nice bag to boot. The liners, I think I am passing as I have most in full size. But, I’m tempted to get it for the berry shade!

Ti Avatar

Not interested in the lip set at all, as mini lipsticks really piss me off (I have way too much real estate on my mouth for them to work for me). But, I’ve been hearing so much hype about these liners for so long, I placed my order as soon as I got the email this morning. It’s still pretty pricey for mini size liners, but I feel like it’s nice to get so many colors to try out. We shall see!

Allison Avatar

I saw the mini eyeliners earlier today online, and I need to pull out the ones I bought last year coz a couple sound familiar, but they can’t be right? Those lipsticks are adorable. I think I must have them!

Nancy T Avatar

The High Liner set sounds pretty good to me, especially to check out the formula on my *at times* very watery, non-cooperative eyes! I keep hearing how fantastic this formula is, so I just might grab this deal.

Heather Avatar

I’m so confused–the pencils in this set are called “petite” at .01 ounces each, but Sephora lists their $25/each full-sized Marc Jackb pencils as .01 each. Do these actually contain less product per pencil, or is it just that the packaging is shorter?

Melissa Avatar

Aloha! I was wondering the same thing! So I grabbed my pencils from last year’s petite holiday set (assuming that they are the same size as this year’s set), my full sized, and a petite 100 point perk. Both petite holiday and 100 point perk are .37g/.01oz and the full sized is .5g/.01oz.

When looking at grams in total for the 7 petite liners (in the set) it is .37gx7=2.59 grams for $48 which is $18.53 per gram and the full size is $25 for .5g at $50.00 per gram. So you are actually getting a better deal on the holiday set. The full size cost 170% more than the 7 petite liners. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Mahalo! ^_^

Heather Avatar

Oh my goodness! Mahalo to you for checking your stash and your thorough per-ounce calculations! I’m impressed that this set is both cheaper per ounce *and* lets you try numerous colors for less than the price of two full-sized ones. 🙂 I appreciate the time you took to help me out–have the loveliest of days!

(Also, I’m presuming you are in Hawaii–hello from one volcanic island to another! If I may ask one more question–how do these liners hold up for you in heat and humidity? It’s hurricane season in the Lesser Antilles and my regular eyeliner is quite uncooperative at the moment!)

Melissa Avatar

They are the best non-liquid eyeliners I have ever used (so far) in terms of longevity. I have a problem with eyeliners that smudge and transfer to my contacts, with these I don’t have that problem. They hold up pretty well in the heat and humidity. I always wear eye primer all around my eyes so I am sure that helps with it staying put. I prefer my Jesse’s Girl liquid eyeliner for my lids and these for my waterline and lower lashline.

Yes, I am from Hawaii. ^_^ But I moved to Dubai about a year ago. And let me tell you, the humidity and heat is WAY WAY worse here than in Hawaii and those eyeliners are still pretty awesome. Mahalo and you have a lovely day too!!

Melissa Avatar

Returned mine. They were dried out and were not the same as my current higliners. I called Sephora and they said that Marc Jacobs has pulled out their regular highliners and the holiday highliner set. She said she wasn’t sure why they were pulled out, but suspects that they might reformulate.

Hope you didn’t buy it! If you did return it if they are dried out like mine. They are supposed to be really smooth and just the right amount of creamy that it should NEVER tug. ^_^

Stacy Avatar

The last time I used up an entire pencil or crayon eyeliner was about 20 years ago, maybe. So this mini Highliner set is a perfect way for me to finally try this product line that I’ve heard so many raves about. I’m pretty excited 🙂
