The Spring Season: MAC Creme d’Nude Lipstick

MAC Creme d’Nude Lipstick ($14.00) is a creamy, nearly opaque pink-toned fleshy nude. It’s warm enough to keep it from being too corpse-ish of a nude, and it’s definitely a popular favorite amongst Temptalia readers! (I wasn’t going to include it, because my store was out when I did my buying for Spring Season lipsticks, but due to the demand… I pestered my store until they found one for me!) It’s a cremesheen finish, so it has a creamier look without being too thick or having a lot of slip. Like most MAC lipsticks, it is vanilla-scented and wears for a few hours before fading.

Is this the right nude lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Hi Christine,
I just bought this 🙂 it’s my first time buying a nude lipstick. Can I ask you a question ? hehe.. is it normal to not able to fully cover the lips with a nude lipstick ? like you still can see a tiny bit of pinkish of lips. Hope I didn’t sound too dumb. Thanks 🙂

GlowMyWay Avatar

Hey bubbles, I have it and it really doesn’t cover that well on its own. My lips are pigmented, so it looks strange. But I bought it with one of the lip glasses in Fashion Whim, and that over top makes it beautiful. Just any light nude peachy gloss over top will even out that coverage.

Glessie Avatar

Hi Christine. Honestly I can’t even begin to commend for your blog. But either way thaaaaanks. It has helped tremendously with building my mac collection. But I was wondering if you used a lipliner with this lipstick? I used to looooove cremesheens but now I’m moving toward satins. So idk if I should get creme d’nude or invest pale nudes with matter finishes. thanks. 🙂

This is my FAVORITE nude! I’ve been wearing it a lot lately paired with Pink Karat lipgloss (to add just a little more color). I lurve it. Looks much pinker in the photo than it does in real life, huh?

Toukie Avatar

It looks really pretty on your lips. How does it compare to myth? Does it have a smother application? I find myth difficult to wear. I almost never wear it but i find it so pretty on others!

kiran Avatar

Any recommendations for those with pigmented lips on what lip pencil to you use underneath? I find the Mac ones are all too dark, except for summerfruit which gives too much peach (which is great but not if you want neutral)

Thanks xx

Donna Avatar

I think its a pretty color, but I don’t know if it would work on me… I still would be afraid of the corpse-like look because I’m SUPER-fair…. What do you think? Other suggestions for the very fair skinned?

Michelle Avatar

I keep meaning to try this on at MAC. For awhile now I have been on less of a MAC lipstick craze. I slimmed down my collection. I find it sad but silly to own a bunch as I am more of a gloss person nowadays.

Lauren Avatar

This is my favorite nude color from MAC, it does not make me look like I put white out on my lips! I love to pair this with a golden smokey eye!

Diana Avatar

Thank you so much for your hunting of this lipstick I was waiting for you to put this one on Spring Season I absolutely love this lipstick its so creamy and very easy to wear. Its a good nude for a beginner.

hiromi Avatar

Ooh i’ve heard good things about this shade, but have always been a bit apprehensive about trying it myself.

I’m NC 35, do you think it’d be too light for me? I’ve always worried about that =/

Claudia Avatar

I went to the MAC store and tried a few nude lipsticks (Hue, Myth, etc) and creme d’nude was the one that looked best on my skin tone. The others were either too orangish or too corpse like.

Michelle Avatar

I have this lipstick, and I hate it. It look more like a cheap pornstar-ish nude because of the pinkish tint. But maybe that’s because I have thicker lips…

margot Avatar

I am surprised at actually how pretty this color is. You are right, it doesn’t look corpse-ish, although I’d love to see a picture of your whole face to really see the effect it gives you 🙂 I might have to check this one out as I am liking it

Stef Avatar

Pretty! I need to add this to my ultimate nude list (along with your recommendations of Cherish and Honeylove). I’m very happy with Peachstock too, I must say…

Tish Avatar

I Love CDN …it is such a great color for most skin tones….I am NC44 and it works great for me …. Love the cremesheen formula for nudes…not cakey as a lot of the other formulas tend to look.

Erin Avatar

I wish I could figure out how to wear this lipstick! I have heard so many amazing things about it, but I just can’t get it to mesh with my rather pigmented lips (NC20-25 skin). The only nude I have found that I can sort-of work with is High Tea, but I don’t love the glossy finish.

Lorraine Avatar

Christine I finally found my perfect go to nude at a MAC warehouse sale last weekend!! Now I’m crying coz it’s LE -brave new bronze. What would be the closest permanent lippy to this from any brand?? Thanks!! Also , you think creme d’nude will look good on me? I’m NC40 in the summer or C2 face and body when I haven’t seen the light of day lol with very dark brown upper lip but cherry red bottom lip. Thanks!!!!

Ivette Avatar

this looks so pretty in the tube but when I tried it in the store it was awful on me (nc35), it had a grayish cast and it totally washed me out, but I can see it working for girls with fair skin.

HC Avatar

OMG! I JUST bought this yesterday from my MAC counter @ Bloomies! I love it but I’m thinking twice about it only b/c I think it matches my Shu Uemura lip gloss 952S.

Brandy Avatar

I bought this lipstick last year but really wish I hadn’t. I love the way it looks in the tube and as swatch on my hand but on my lips it looks like I smeared concealed or foundation on them. I’m still on the lookout for a liner that will make creme d’ nude work for me.

Li Ming Avatar

Try MAC’s Naked Liner that came out with Too Fabulous – if still in stock. The only permanent MAC that is closest to match CDN is Sublime Culture but I still find it quite dark…

Jennifer Avatar

I wanted to try this , along with Myth, just because they are big sellers for mac…However I am NC20 and I just don’t think it would work for me.

I instead went with your suggestion Christine, and ordered Mac’s Velvet Teddy…I think that will be perfect for me. I did get “Hug me” as suggested by a MA , and it is nice, but it wasn’t the nude nude I was looking for. I know Teddy will be!

Megan Avatar

I bought this colour a few months ago, but I find it really hard to wear. I am pale, and I find it really orange on me. Do you have any tips?

Christine Avatar

Hmm, if it’s going orange on you… you could try neutralizing your lip color with concealer/foundation patted on gently, or else layer another lipstick underneath (maybe a pinker shade) or you could top it with a lipgloss (maybe go nude like C-Thru).

Rowan Avatar

This sort of reminds me of the pale pinkie l/s that came out with the Barbie collection…that I still have and should probably toss b/c it’s old but I don’t have the heart to!!

babicsek Avatar

I’ve been eyeing with this lippie for so long, but wasn’t really sure weather to get it or not,but after this I’ll definetly go for it:D:D

Miss_Rona Avatar

I luv, luv, LUV, this shade! It’s one that I always have a back up of!
It suits so many looks and can be so versatile depending on the base, and gloss used!
…Did I mention I LUV this one?
🙂

kali Avatar

I used to have this but I passed it on to someone else. It looked sheer on my lips (but I did like the color.) It looks so nice and pigmented on YOU!! I wish it looked like that on me or I would’ve kept it. What would you suggest to make it more pigmented? It’s weird, my lips aren’t even that red or anything.

Pinch Avatar

This is my absolute favourite nude lippie! I like how it’s not completely opaque, like say Blankety, so my lip colour shows through. It’s an absolute winner for me! It doesn’t last as long as others I have from MAC though (like viva glam I does)

lipstick lover Avatar

Hey ! My all time favorite lipstick, hue by mac; broke. I can still use it; but it’s so hard… I wanted to replace it; but instead of getting hue, maybe i could get creme d’nude. Is there a gigantic difference ?? Also, i have super dry lips so i think it would be nice, but i don’t know… Wish i could get both, but i can’t… What should i buy ??
Thanks

Linda Avatar

Myth is too harsh alone but an be a good base for another color; have just ordered mac Cremed’Nude and Freckletone – web is invaluable for me for lipstick news as I dont have a mac counter for miles!
Have just started using myth a different way – using a teeny amount and smudging it with my brush – thats way I dont look too ‘washed-out’. mac lipsticks are the best. I have NARS ‘belle de jour’ both lipstick and pencil and they are both too honey toned for me. I am fair with blue eyes and prefer a really natural shade that makes my lips ‘pop’ slightly without being too garish.

Hazel Avatar

I am NC15 and was wondering if this is the best nude shade for me? I wouldnt mind the slight concealer effect since that’s what I’m going for.:)

Sanziana Avatar

I absolutely adore this lipstick! I tend to wear very dark eye shadow, and I love emphasizing my eyes, because I have big pupils and they’re very black, so I loved just gliding Creme D’Nude over my lips. But I lost it T_T… I’m saving up to buy a new one, since M.A.C is very expensive in our country (1 lipstick = 25$, and so on…)
