Rare Breed is really nice. The collection doesn’t look perfect, but it doesn’t look like consistent D’s and F’s like other releases.
I love dogs but this collection is boring.
Wow, those MAC shadow swatches actually look great ! So much better than that crappy-looking Vellux Pearlfusion formula. I was eyeing Posh Pedigree but think the colors will get muddy on me, and I’ve already ordered Chanel D’Automnes, but Purebred looks interesting. And I like MAC Nose lipstick….this collection needs pawprints on it.
Yes to cute paw-prints!
This collection isn’t doing it for me…
Hi Christine,
Are those eyeshadow swatches done Wet, dry or over primer? Thanks!
I swatch Mineralize Eyeshadows dry and damp, never over primer.
Hmm. Now that I’m seeing the swatches, the only thing I may consider picking up is the Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Rare Breed. The Pure Bred Mineralize Eyeshadow quad doesn’t look to bad either.
Well, judging by your swatches, looks like my choice to order Rare Breed was a good one. Out of the swatches, it’s the only one I think has a chance of looking good on me. Like many of your other readers, I’m also underwhelmed by the collection. Just got a shipping notice from MAC so I should have it sometime early next week. Wish MAC was more consistent!
Rare Breed is the only thing on my list so far. It’s kind of plain, but I know I’ll get a lot of use from it, and I like the gold shimmer instead of the more common silver frost.
I’m liking the looks of this. But, it’s mostly dupable with the exception of Rare Breed. I’m liking that a lot! May have to try to snatch that up.
Rare Breed is the only product that catches my eye here. I don’t think this collection is quite as exciting as Fabulous Felines was!
As much as I want to love something called Labradorable, it’s quite an achievement for a lipstick to look that streaky in the swatch AND in the bullet.
Oh finally I can have a good swatch, thank you!!! First, I have to say that all the shades are incredibly beautiful and perfect for fall^^ But the lipsticks don’t look very pigmented. Does it worth the money? On the other hand, the eyeshadows are dreamy!!! Need to have them asap.
I like the Pure Bred quad, those are my colors! But I promised I wouldn’t buy more makeup until December, so I won’t be getting it ?
Christine, not related to this at all but as this is the newest thread I thought I’d post here. The “Reviews” (as in searching for reviews) doesn’t seem to be working – just keeps taking me back to this page. At the “old” site, we could search reviewers separately, by brand and see reviews from others in the community and then add our own written review or rating and also link to your original review. I don’t seem to be able to find where/how to do that now.
Hey Mariella,
Where are you searching? If you click “Reviews” (second navigation), it’ll take you to the top page for the product database, and you can search for any product in the search box there, which will take you to the associated product/shade page (same as before). If you’re clicking the magnifying glass, it’s doing a full search of the entire site!
Christine, when I click on “Reviews” (top left side of page, next to “Home”), I then get taken to “Review Database” with a magnifying glass on the left size of the box, “Enter Product Name” in the dialogue box and “Find Product” on the far right. But when I type in the name of a product and hit “Find Product”, it takes me right back to this page (the first page of the blog) with the MAC shadows and then the question about lash extensions, etc.
Okay, I got it to work now, by typing the name of the actual shade first and then waiting for “Bobbi Brown” and the product name to turn up. Otherwise, just typing “Bobbi Brown”, I couldn’t get to the page that allowed me to pick “Face”, “Eyes”, “Cheeks”, etc. Now I’ll just have to remember how I did it for future reference!
Oooh, if you are looking for BRANDS | MAKEUP | etc. those are at the end of the page (before the actual “footer” that you see on every page), for more general browsing!
You can also type in “Bobbi Brown Shade” and it should pop up as well!
I don’t see that ANYWHERE on my screen – not before the “footer”, not at the top of the page or at the side – nothing saying “BRANDS/MAKEUP”. Is it possible that the background advertising is somehow covering it up?
Re looking for reviews, I started typing “MAC Stolen Moment” (because I knew it was there) and it functioned just as before, but like I say, when I started to type “Bobbi Brown” and didn’t see products popping up (there were a very few with the name “Bobbi”) so just entered “Bobbi Brown”, I ended up back on the homepage. But I really wonder why I can’t find the button to get to “Brands”.
Here’s a screen shot: http://www.temptalia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/brandss.jpg
It’s on the Reviews (http://www.temptalia.com/product) page after the various lists (most loved, most wanted, etc.) but before our logo in the footer.
If you let me know your device + browser, we can look into it further!
Oh, I feel so stupid now but also relieved as I think I found the link you were describing. I didn’t realize it was on the bottom of the “REVIEWS” page – the link to “BRANDS” is there. Like I said, now I just have to remember how I get to it (you can laugh but it really is harder learning new ways of doing things when you hit my age group!)
No, no, it totally makes sense when you use certain things often. We wanted to encourage people to use the “find a product” field vs. browsing an endless list of products (we would get emails saying they couldn’t find XYZ specific product, but they would be trying to browse via brand).
We hope to improve the search box so that it is more intuitive a little later down the road (maybe in a month or two we’ll start) so that it is really, really robust – so you could type in “bobbi brown” and hit enter and you’ll still get something.
Hey Mariella,
Are you selecting the product when it drops down? e.g. when I type in “MAC Eyesha” I’ll start seeing options, and then if I click “MAC Eyeshadow” and click “Find Product” it takes me to the same page. It should work exactly as it did before, though – we didn’t change the format or process on the search box.
Christine, I LOVE your blog and its my go-to for swatches and upcoming release information, but I have one request that’s been nagging me for a long time! When you’re swatching a palette I REALLY wish you’d include a photo of all colors swatched together. I know it’s not possible on larger palettes, but when there’s 2-5 colors it would be really helpful to see how the colors play together! Thanks and keep up the awesome work 🙂
Sorry, I swatch them very far apart, so they don’t photograph together with the lens I use!
Oooh!!! Pure Bred, Labradorable, and Dressed To The K9’s are quite appealing! Very interested your reviews on all these products, they seem prettier than I had imagined.
I saw the dogs and started cooing. I saw the collection and yawned. Idk why I thought this would be more exciting! I do like the pure bred palette though. Thanks for showing us, Christine!
Rare breed, Nose for style and Pure bred all look pretty nice. But they could’ve made this collection more fun, for sure.
thank you! helpful swatches! Looks pretty
Nothing looks A material.
Pure Bred was one of the quads that I was eyeing, and the swatches look pretty good, yay.
I like the look of some of the lippies.
Rare Breed and Nose For Style are pretty, but I think this collection could have been a lot more exciting. I haven’t tried the Mineralized lipsticks, they look a bit….slippery?
I really like Posh Pedigree – those are my sorts of colours – and Nose for Style is calling to me as well. I’ll be eager to see reviews on these. (and let me apologize, Temptalianites, for sidelining this thread).
The shadows look pretty good. I just can’t get excited about this collection, though.
The quad in Posh Pedigree caught my attention, until I noticed the 4th shade is nearly identical to the 3rd…
the posh pedigree quad is beautiful
The eye shadows look very interesting – like Posh Pedigree the best. But I love Chanel D’Automnes better. Some of the lipsticks look really insipid and certainly not autumn colours. Nose for Style is a lovely colour. It will be interesting to see how they rate.
Genevieve, I just picked up Tisse d’automne yesterday and it is so lovely and it’s what I was thinking of when I saw Posh Pedigree….similar shades but I like the Chanel one more too (though the MAC one is less pricey).
? Its like MAC didn’t even try. Thanks for the swatches. I honestly didn’t myself psyched but…had the hope that I’d be surprisingly wowed by at least one.
Meh. It’s nice to see MAC release Mineralize lipsticks with a new collection (it’s been a while since they’ve had new Mineralize in LE release, right? Maybe this is the first time and I’m just remembering wrong.) and the colors look great but the swatches . . . not sure. It’s not that they are sheer, more like they are uneven or streaky. I expected to see more coverage too, I think. This collection feels “light” and like it’s a filler. I now stay away from the Mineralize shadow quads because we don’t get along – I get so little color pay off and all the shadow that was supposed to go on my lids ends up on all over the quad.
I don’t mind passing on this – it’s more money saved up for all the holiday sets coming out! 🙂
Exactly my thoughts.
Everything is kinda… hot dog colored.
Looks like there will be some hits and misses again.
It will be interesting to read the reviews for this collection. I quite like some of the products, a few of the lipsticks and I also like the look of Pure Bred. Usually I’m not a fan of Mineralize Eyeshadows, but if the review is good, and I don’t have loads of dupes, ( think I may, though) I would consider buying it.
I got RareBreed as soon as I saw it online just because it looked like an everyday color I can get a good use. Now that I’ve seen your swatches I’m more interested in Labeadorable! It looks like it might be similar to Rebel with added glitter. How does it look in person in your opinion?
I caved in and got Rare Breed, but it looks so light on you! I was hoping it was a little darker.
I could not concentrate on the products for what seems to be hair growing/hanging from her lower lip. This was a big turn-off for me!!!
Facial hair is a very normal thing, whether one likes it or not, especially when we’re talking photos that are two or three times magnified! I’m happy to maintain and remove facial hair as I can – but tiny, one millimeter baby hairs are part and parcel of being a real human being without a team of Photoshoppers 😉
