There is hardly any visible gold sparkle; most of it doesn’t seem to make it to the skin. It had really good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was almost a little powdery as it was thin, but luckily it didn’t kick up much excess in the pan and sat naturally applied to the cheeks. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours on me.
Formula Summary | Too Faced Love Flush Blush ($26.00 for 0.21 oz.) is supposed to be an exceptionally long-wearing (16 hours), pigmented, and “buttery soft” blush. It’s a nice blush, but unsurprisingly, it doesn’t last 16 hours. Some shades last eight hours, others last a little closer to ten hours–it is nice wear for powder blush generally, but you’ll find that many shades’ ratings took a hit because of the 16-hour wear claim. The blush has a soft texture that’s just firm enough not to kick up a lot of excess powder, but it’s not too firm where you can’t get good color payoff when you use it. Pigmentation varied from shade to shade and ranged from semi-opaque to totally opaque, while the blush tended to blend well on the skin with a satin to luminous finish. The compacts may be a little hard to open if you have larger fingers/hands (like me), and sometimes I felt like the pattern made it harder to get good pigmentation out of the blush if I used a more feathery brush.

The more I look at these blushes, which btw are everywhere right now, the more I want them!
They have a really nice finish to them! 🙂
It’s a pretty pink, but there are a lot of dupes for this one. I already have Tarte Dollface, so will consider the other colors instead
Good call!
I’d have to swatch it, it looks like it has a yellow undertone along with the blue. Sometimes those are the best shades for me or they are a disaster!
Fingers crossed for you, Erin!
Lovely, but I wish it retained a little more of the gold sparkle.
I can understand that!
Very pretty shade. Very Madonna-esque circa late 80’s into very early 90’s, so I understand the name choice. I used to wear something like this back then, too. That video, though….I really, really do wish I could “unsee” what I saw ages ago!
lol! I can only imagine what a shocker the video was then!
MTV wouldn’t air it! It went to VHS, I saw it at a friend’s home and wished I didn’t!
I can’t recall anything out of the ordinary for that video… Then again, I’d been exposed to quite a bit by the time I reached High School (I’d seen A Clockwork Orange over a dozen times by the time I was 10-Latchkey Kid, LOL!).
I remember having a Maybelline “sculpting” trio with a similar color as the “main” blush shade, and I wore it quite a bit in ’89, until one day I realized how horrid it looked on me.
A Clockwork Orange definitely makes this video quite tame in comparison! I’ve seen some crazy stuff in movies, but this was nuts for a music video, too explicitly sexual. Downright pornographic IMHO. But now, there are far worse offenders than this one by far. Now I’m more discerning about what I’ll feed my brain and senses.
The video is quite tame by today’s standards. I guess if seeing breasts and men in makeup and kissing then you would be shocked. I’m sure nobody minded when Beyonce just completely copied it.
I think I had the same one, and one of the only things I ever hit pan on!
PS: Fellow Latchkey Kid here!
I gave this blush the ultimate 16 hour test last week: a 13 hour flight, layover, plus another 1 hour flight. It disappeared well before the end of the 13 hour flight just like every other blush I’ve worn on a long haul flight.
I really like the three Love Flush blushes I bought though. 🙂 They’re not exceptional but they do blend easily and have a really pretty finish.
Thanks for giving it a good trial, Sheb! It’s a pretty shade, but 16-hours is just… well, you know 😉
This looks beautiful in the pan, but I can tell by the swatches it would not work for me…
Ahh, drats!
The packaging on these seems very kiddie makeup to me. Not necessarily a bad thing, I just picture them coming from the Barbie aisle.
I think I’ve heard people say they remind them of Polly Pockets? or something like that, lol.
