Round-up: Cle de Peau Eye Color Quads Overview & Thoughts
It only took a year, but I finally reviewed all of the Cle de Peau Eye Color Quads in the permanent range. After receiving two as press samples, I loved the texture of the formula so much that I bought the other six, which I wouldn’t repeat again. I still really like the texture, generally, across all of the quads, but the colors are more dupable in far too many of the quads, and there are a lot more neutrals that run together across the variations that inspire me less after trying. They’re also just not as impressive relative to their price point (which doesn’t leave a lot of room for error). The ones I reach for most are Stardust (302) (A-) and Stellar Gaze (307) (A-).

Whoopsi! What I said on the Sarin Moon post.. See? Space cadet.. 😛
At least you can admire from afar!
Now isn’t that the truth?! 🙂 I can play with the ones I have… Or they could also just send me these… Just an idea. 😛 😀 They were meant for me. I should be on their creative team! 😀
It’s a shame, I really like a lot of the colour combinations, but at that price point I think they should really be A++ in quality.
I agree! They weren’t as good as I was hoping. I do, personally, like them, and I have found that several combos are really great for travel but at the price point, it’s hard to really recommend them.
I agree with you, Christine. I think that at this price point, the color payoff should be spectacular and more (the size) product, as well. I have heard rave reviews on Cle de Peau’s facial cleansers and moisturizers, but yet again, the cost is almost absurd. I use mid-range priced products with great results (makeup AND cleansers/moisturizers). Sometimes I just cannot justify the cost of some beauty products.
Thank you for reviewing these! You have saved me so much money, Christine 🙂
It’s the least I can do, LOL!
I really love the color combination of Silver eclipse, Satin Moon, and Star Dust. But, I am just not sure if the price and quality mesh. I do wear a primer generally. Do you think their issues are fixable with an eyelid primer?
They should work well with primer — I would get one and see how you like it. Maybe Satin Moon or Star Dust first.
I love their naming choices 🙂
The small things!
Some interesting colours and very handy for travelling and I can see how appealing they could be – especially with autumn/winter colours.
There are some pretty colors!
Hi Christine, just wanted to let you know that under the report card, stellar gaze has an A- but the photo says A. Thanks so much for all your work you do an awesome job!!! 🙂
Well, the good news is that it is actually an A, so that’s an easier error to fix, LOL. Thanks!
These just don’t wow me. Only thing I really like out of all of them is the light green in champagne.
Your wallet is happy!
As I repeated have said, the originals were so good, I kept buying it over and over again until they discontinued it and the made it 3x more costly. The original was in a single where you can create your own set of two or set of six. Absolutely lovely. The closest I have to it is Urban Decay in formula. When it stopped selling at Saks, I bought like 15 singles from this store in Chinatown SF. The store carried Sheseido(sp) and this brand is own by it. I never use eye primer and the shadow last all day for me. It was so pigmented and the shadow was so marshmellow soft. I own one of these quads hoping they were like the original. It is no way near. I find this formula kind of dry and I felt the colors just blur together. I own 308. I tested Dior new quad. Not pigmented. I hope the new Buxom are good.
Which new Dior? One day, Dior will do it right. Or at least, I hope they will.
The new quint Dior sets. Just swatched it last night. Was interested in the cream liners. Just not good.
Noooo, say it isn’t so. I didn’t have high hopes, but 🙁
