Sephora was one of the stores that participated in the double points on ebates?
Well I out in an order yesterday and got 4% back…
If I recall correctly…. last week, Mr. Rebates was doing 7% back at Sephora and Ebates was doing 4% back, but this week, Ebates was doing 8% back, so I’ve been switching back and forth between the 2 to get the best deal.
No, Christine, STOP! This makes a total of three orders from Sephora! I ended up getting just Liar lipgloss because it looks so nice! But whyyyyyy I have so much stuff coming in this week.

And I’m in Canada, so I can verify that we have it too! (I didn’t seem to get screwed with duties, which was nice. The “tax and duties” worked out to about 13% which is on par with HST where I am.)

Yeah Sephora doesn’t charge duties, but we do pay the Canadian price for merchandise & whtever applicable GST/HST in your province/ territory

THIS DAY JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER! (Except for my wallet) I’m embarrassed to admit how crazy I’ve gone during this sale but at least now I get to end the madness with some new urban decay. SWEET!

I got Tonic, Fireball, Sideline and Dive Bar. They’re all gorgeous but Tonic and Fireball are STUNNING.

Wow I was too busy all day to be checking websites and the shades I wanted (tonic and fireball) are already sold out! Better for my budget I suppose…!

Right?! Fireball and Tonic were all gone when I checked this evening. I was actually able to add Sideline to my cart but it RAN OUT right before I placed my order! Slipped right through my fingers!!! Not meant to be I suppose. But I did get 3 palettes to play with (including that new MUFE one) so I’ve got my hands full as far as eyeshadow.
Will Urban Decay be having a sale soonish? Don’t they have sales twice a year? (I have a feeling the same thing will happen bc everyone wants those new shadows but can’t hurt to plan).
I think they just did their spring F&F sale, so it’ll probably be awhile until the next one!
I seriously thought these would be added right after the sale ended. I grabbed Bittersweet and Rapture blushes. I also grabbed Dive Bar, Lounge and Backfire eyeshadow. Fireball was already sold out. At least everything is permanent. I’ll probably grab the rest of what I want when Ulta gets the line.

I went to urbandecay.com and replenished my lips tick backup stash, and I just had to get Lounge eye shadow. I wanted to compare it to the old formula. The old formula was great, and it is a gorgeous duochrome. My eyes are green and this looks like a warm bronzy green and flashes pink purple on my eyes in different light and it really makes my eyes pop green. I also grabbed a couple of the blushes. I used to be fond of Urban Decay’s Lip Gunk line of lip glosses, and haven’t been very impressed with all of their new introductions to bother with the new formula. I am going to wait until I can go to Sehora so I can’t look at them really well. I noticed that urbandecay.com was extremely generous with the samples, they put in generous sized samples of a 24/7 eye liner, a large Perversion mascara sample, a generous sample of the new eye Primer Potion, and Scandal High Color Gloss in Scandal. The pencil is LSD, I will give that to my sister. I love the 24/7 pencils, but this color won’t work for me, and I can check out the gloss. I am not sure if the color is right for me, but I can give it to my sister. She is a great reviewer and she just started using UD after using Chanel and likes their Naked foundation better than the Chanel she has been using. She also started using the first Naked eye palette, she hasn’t worn eye shadow since high school, she’s 47. I think with her fair skin, blue eyes, and real blonde hair, Naked 3 would have been a better choice, but she has been pretty pleased. I have tried to convert her before and she really liked the original lip sticks. They had great colors for really pale people. Then she started using Chanel when UD discontinued the original lip sticks. She is also allergic to a lot of cosmetic formulations. Urban Decay doesn’t make her break out, it doesn’t irritate her skin, and they don’t make her eyes water.

It is probably too late for me to make a comment that anyone will read but I will share my thoughts anyway. The ONLY thing I wanted during this sale were these eyeshadows. I did not make a purchase and was committed to not making a purchase unless they became available. Imagine my joy when I saw this announcement! Imagine my disappointment when I discovered the shadows were sold out almost immediately. I have never understood why people make negative comments about sephora but now I am beginning to understand. I have no doubt these shadows will be available soon at full price. I don’t know who to blame for the limited quantity, Sephora or Urban Decay. I feel suspicious that limited quantities were purposeful.

I don’t know if it was, or if they genuinely didn’t realize they were going to sell through so quickly, since they are permanent I would imagine they had pretty big runs. Hard to say, though!
Update: all these “sold out” shades were available at Sephora’s website less than 40 hours after spring sale ended.
Bummer!
To play devil’s advocate: there were shades of other products (notably, Kat Von D’s periwinkle liquid eyeliner) that sold out initially but were restocked 3-4 days later (still during the sale), which I was surprised to see myself! It’s possible that with the UD eyeshadows being permanent that UD simply shipped out more inventory to Sephora, but it’s rare for retailers to say it’s in stock unless they have the product in hand. 24-48 hours doesn’t seem unreasonable (to me at least) for UD to ship + Sephora to receive (and take inventory of) that shipment.
It is also entirely possible that they under-stocked on purpose! Though I still see Tonic and Fireball sold out?
In general, Sephora launched a ton of new summer collections/products during the sale, including a lot of Sephora-only brands (where I’d think they’d have the most incentive to hold back); it definitely didn’t seem like they were trying to hold back stock to make more money a week later, but we’ll never really know, unfortunately!
I actually appreciate you playing the Devil’s advocate, Christine. I have been a satisfied and happy Sephora customer for 6-7 years and I want to continue the same. I like the fact that I can get so many brands at one central location and read numerous reviews before purchase. Sale prices aren’t a huge motivator for my purchases. Thank you for sharing an insider’s view of this situation. I will continue to trust Sephora and give them my business.
No problem! 🙂 Always gotta keep an eye out, because it’s not a practice that would surprise me from a brand/retailer either, but hopefully that wasn’t the case here. I also think it’s good to discuss.
