Maybelline Playful Peony (975) Color Sensational Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Maybelline Playful Peony (975) Color Sensational Lip Color
Maybelline Playful Peony (975) Color Sensational Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a light-medium, pink-lavender with subtle cool undertones, barely-there pearl, and a soft sheen. Maybelline Lilac Flush (725) (P, $7.49) is cooler-toned, less pink. Maybelline Power Peony (720) (P, $7.49) is darker. Maybelline Petal Pink (710) (P, $7.49) is lighter. Givenchy Rose Dahlia (210) (P, $36.00) is lighter. Maybelline Pink Pop (P, $7.49) is darker. MAC Raspberry Swirl (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Pink Nouveau (P, $16.00) is darker, less glossy. MAC Naughty Saute (LE, $16.00) is slightly darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
After visiting three stores, I was able to track the last of the limited edition lip colors! I had expected it to be more on the lavender side, but alas, it was not the case , and I was surprised at actual color, as there were shades very close to this already released this spring by Maybelline, so it seems redundant. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on somewhat evenly, but it could use improvement so that the application was smoother and less prone to streaking. It lasted for three hours on me and was a little hydrating, but the pearl shimmer added texture to it despite being subtle.

Yeah, I thought this looked similar to some recent shade(s) released by Maybelline. Can you post pics of the dupes? Thx!
Hi Katherine,
Click “See comparison swatches” or “view dupes.” Both links will show you swatches of the dupes I selected.
I avoid bubblegum pinks and cool lavenders because of my warm skintone but more and more I am starting to open my mind to trying them since they look lovely on you! I will try to start with a cheaper option to make sure I like it 🙂
You might like some of the ones with stronger pink tones but still have some lilac 🙂
This one actually turned out to be quite pretty! I’m still glad I skipped though. I thought it looked too similar to Power Peony to justify both. Silly that Maybelline would put both of them out. Even the names are similar lol
Right?? Very similar!!
Lavenders are of course some of my favorite lip colors. I can never have enough. While it’s been really exciting to see the color gain popularity and the appearance of drugstore options, I hope things get better. Go full-on lavender! More lavender! Maybelline seems to very much like mixing its lavenders on the pink side. Embrace the purple 😉
True lavender, please!
Exactly. They make for pretty pinks, but enough dipping the toes in the lavender waters with pinks. Make some true lavender and REALLY stand out, especially in the drugstore. I’d gladly hunt down and buy up multiples of a true, successful drugstore lavender and I hate bothering tracking down drugstore LEs.
I look too Nicki Minaj with a color like this on my lips. You can pull it off though.
Nicki Minaj looks gorgeous in her pinks, though! 🙂
I think this is a pretty candy pink for spring.
It is a very spring-y pink!
I love the shade! I am sensing my next trip to a pharmacy will result in getting all the new spring shades of lipsticks and Color Tattoos 🙂
Hope you can find it!
I’ll pass on this one!
I would, too!
That color isn’t my favorite, but your blush looks beautiful. Do you remember what product you were using? I really want it in my collection.
