We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! MAC Flat Out Fabulous looks so gorgeous on you! Can’t resist trying it myself soon 🙂
I love Reckless. It’s a tad pinker and I like that.
I think I like the Bite better, it’s mostly the finish for me.
Christine, would you say this color is similar to Aubergine by Bite?
Hey Krista,
Aubergine is much darker and redder – less cool/magenta.
Jan color sold out within hours, the Feb one within a day. I think this playing ” hard-to-get-strategy” will ultimately backfire on BITE. First, limited batch = limited sales and profits (duh). Second, all this does is make frustrated customers check out dupes from your competitors!!
I almost forgot I have Flat Out Fabulous. I may wear it on Valentine’s Day. It’s such a beautiful pink!
Ooooo Reckless! The Bite Beauty one looks fab, but as I’m allergic to pretty much all of their products, I’m more interested in the dupes. And I love the Pure Envy lippies. I like how Reckless is still a bright, bold colour, but it’s been turned down juuust a notch – I find Estee Lauder has a great touch with that, which is difficult to do well.
Unfortunately I can never rely on any of your swatches. I don’t know if its the lighting you use or what, but every product I’ve ever gotten is very different in color. I have Bite Beauty 02 and it is nowhere near as bright as it appears on here. Has anyone else ever mentioned anything about difference in colors?
Hi Lisa,
I try my hardest to make sure colors are represented accurately through 1) color balancing of my camera; 2) editing with blackout curtains and in the same lighting (with the same color temperature as the lighting I use for photographing) every time, 3) color calibrating across my desktop PC, laptop PC, MacBook, and iPhone every 4 weeks, 4) provide photos with both direct and indirect light, 5) provide a full face photo (further away from the main light source), 6) use the same position (as best as I can as a human being) for all photos using the same settings and equipment, 7) checking with the product on me with a mirror and looking at the photos as rendered on my computer.
I don’t know what else I can do, unfortunately – I spend a lot of time calibrating each month and checking across devices (because color calibrating on my device is useless if standard device settings are significantly off). I do take my photos with studio lighting designed to mimic a full room of natural light (because I cannot rely on sunlight), so if you are in a dimmer room, everything will look darker. Much in the way that a well-lit room with white walls will appear as having white walls, but if you have a single lamp on, those walls look grayer and darker.
It is not a muted color to me, but it’s medium in brightness. My only guess is that maybe your brightness/contrast settings are high. Your natural lip color and skin tone can also greatly influence how a color appears to you – for instance, a color may look more neon on very fair skin compared to mine, as I am medium in tone so there is a lot less contrast.
RECKLESS!! *flail* 😀
It’s not a perfect dupe for the Bite (which is lovely in its own right), but I just really like that EL one 😉
