Bite Beauty #002 Creme Deluxe Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Shade 002 Lip Lab Limited Release Creme Deluxe Lipstick
Bite Beauty #002 Lip Lab Limited Release Creme Deluxe Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “Japanese Eggplant, a perfectly balanced purple/pink.” It’s a medium-dark, pink-berry with cool undertones and a satin finish. MAC Ultramarine Pink (LE, $30.00) is slightly brighter. Estee Lauder Reckless (P, $30.00) is pinker. MAC Catharina (P, $23.00) is brighter. Urban Decay Ladyflower (LE, $22.00) is lighter. Givenchy Croisiere Fuchsia (309) (LE, $36.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. Maybelline Hot Plum (P, $7.49) is brighter, cooler-toned. Kat Von D Bauhau5 (P, $19.00) is totally matte but very comparable in color. MAC Flat Out Fabulous (P, $16.00) also has a very matte finish with similarity in color (a little brighter). See comparison swatches / view dupes.
I’m happy to report that this month’s release is much, much better compared to January’s. It had fairly opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. The consistency was lightly creamy and medium-thick; the formula felt less creamy than their Luminous Creme formula, so it had less slip overall in comparison. It was lightly hydrating, but the Luminous Creme formula has been more hydrating in my experience (note, I’ve had much more experience with the Luminous Creme and this is only the second shade I’ve tried in this formula). This shade wore well for five and a half hours.

Rats! I had a feeling I should have ordered it. It stayed in stock for *so* much longer… but hesitated. It’s nice to know it improved. Wish I snagged it, now. It’s BEAUTIFUL! I guess I will be checking out the dupes.
Hopefully one of the dupes will work for you!
Oh great, now you’re making me regret missing out on it LOL I might pick up Estee Lauder Reckless at some point tho 🙂
I don’t know that it’s worth the extra $$ though! I don’t have all of their Luminous Creme line, but I wonder if any shades in there are close.
I’m sooo happy about this! I wanted this lipstick because it’s my birthday soon, and I was really banking on it being better than January’s let-down. Mine is on the way! The only thing I regret is maybe not getting a back up!!
Yayyy!
Well golly, I actually opted to not get it! It IS a beautiful colour, but I’m trying to stay strong and hold true to my “low to no buy” year… I like it, but not enough to spend $40 + tax on it (as I live in Canada).
Glad you were able to pick one up for our mutual birthday month!
I live in Canada too 🙂 I’m calling it a birthday present to myself. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!
Woo Hoo Meghan…we’re both doing the happy dance….Can’t wait to get mine on Tuesday or Wednesday!!
I love your whole look-I wasn’t even considering the new Tom Ford collection but now you have me tempted ahh! I’m glad this performed better than the last though 🙂
Thanks, Ashley!
This isn’t quite the color I would’ve expected from the promo description, which I was actually quite excited about. I’m glad that the formula is better with this shade, but I would’ve been disappointed if I spent $30+ and this is what I got. That’s what is so hard about this monthly release system that Bite has concocted–consumers don’t even have the chance to see swatches or reviews before it is sold out. I don’t enjoy buying 100% blind.
I’m glad you didn’t take the plunge, since it would have been a disappointment for you!
omg This one is really beautiful on you, Christine. And I’m so glad it got A rating. Now I truly hope the one launched in January was just a one-time mistake and it won’t happen again across this series. When i checked it out on Sephora.com on the launch day it was still available at the moment, and then I hesitated coz I thought about the poor performance of last one. Then, it’s gone, forever…..:(
Fingers crossed!
This is so pretty, but it’s a bold color for me that I don’t think I’d be able to pull it off / wear it enough to make it worth it haha.
I’m still trying to see why the formula is so much more expensive!
Yeah! So glad this one did well and it is gorgeous on you! But , i just checked Sephora’s website..Looks like it sold out! Do they restock these?
As far as I know, once the month’s shade is gone, it is gone 🙁
That’s ok. I would like to have it because it’s my Bday month. But, I have ladyflower ,I actually got 2 of those sets for that color! Saved me some $ anyway!
It just means more for other goodies for your birthday instead 😀
True!
I love your eye make up in the pic! Gorgeous!
Thanks, Blue!
This is pretty! I just got the sheer version of Ladyflower today, but this looks a bit more purple to me as well as a bit darker. Pinks that actually look really good on me are somewhat elusive, but I think this could be one! Sadly, it’s out of stock on Sephora’s web site and within 100 miles of me.
This is definitely darker than Ladyflower!
That looks like a winner! I really like the shade. It’s bright but it’s not too bright even for a conservative office!
It was nice! I wish I could feel more of a difference between the formulas, though.
Love this shade! Looks beautiful on you! Where it has the dupes, it says Kat Von D BauHau5 is a dupe and that her liquid lipsticks are $19, but recently they went up to $20.
Thanks for the info!
Nice to hear that it’s not the disaster of January’s color. I like it but not enough to buy. Hopefully the other colors will be as nice.
Let’s hope so!
it’s really pretty!
It is!
yah, figures, right? I think I have something similar, or I will grab the Lauder. I’m still pissed about January.
lol! January’s was a disaster.
Pretty, but it looks highly dupable to me. I wouldn’t have paid that much for it, anyway, so moot point. :/
No loss then 😀
Ripe Plum is looking lovely on your eyes, Christine!
Thanks, Celia!
Not a fan of the colour – but I can see that the product is amazing. I am going to check this out in different colours.
I wish it was a bit more hydrating, though!
A Japanese eggplant is more purple, this one looks more fuschia, but nevertheless, glad Bite got the formula right this time! Still kind of pricey, but at least hope they bring it back in stock .
Hopefully the other shades they release will be more like this one!
Happy to hear this wasn’t a dud like last month, but so far i’m finding the colors pretty dupable and unimaginative, which doesn’t seem to make much sense for a concept like this. I want something unique! Maybe in the realm of nars Dominique? 😀
I wish the formula felt more different? Better? I just don’t feel the extra $ in it.
Whew! I’m sooo glad it got a good review! I “had” to order one due to the color description “a perfectly balanced purple/pink” – which sounds like my dream color – and the somewhat muted shade of the pictured bullet. Now seeing your swatches and lips, the shade actually leans more pink, and it’s brighter than I expected. Still, I can see me reaching for this one a lot.
BTW, I LOVE your eyeshadow! I hope this means you’re getting ready to review the new Tom Ford eyeshadow duos. 🙂
Hope you love yours once you get it, Pami!
Pretty and good to hear the formula is solid this month, but at this pricepoint I would rather spring for a NARS Audacious.
Totally understand! I’d go for their Luminous Creme formula over this, IMO – there’s just not enough… difference? in terms of actual quality to merit the price hike for me!
Pretty!
It is!
Part of me hopes that Bite will release a miniature set of these for the holidays. I’d rather have that than individual lipsticks I’d never finish and I HATE the feeling of being rushed into buying something, especially if the quality is hit and miss.
That would be very fun!
Not so much my bag, I’d rather have KVD Bauhau5. But I love your look here, makes me crave spring!
Thanks, Ginny!
This is my kind of colour! It’s gorgeous I’m sure that I must have something similar already. It looks lovely on you. 🙂
Thank you, Gillian! 🙂
I wish I had ordered it now! Darn. I’ll be checking out the dupes haha.
Aww!
It’s probably too cool for me, but it looks great on you!
Aw, thanks!
When I saw the rating, I was disappointed I didn’t buy it, but after seeing the swatches, I’m happy I passed it up. I just expected it to be a much deeper color; I’m on a little bit of a deep lipstick kick lately!! I could see it being a really nice shade to transition from winter colors to spring, though.
Glad I could help you not regret it! 😀
Beautiful color! I kinda want it
It’s a pretty color!
After seeing the swatches I’m happy I didn’t get this! I love Bite, but for me UD Ladyflower is very similar so might as well save that $36 🙂
Woohoo!! Ladyflower getting it done!
This is such a pretty colour! I really wish Bite would be available in Europe, their lip products always seem so amazing… well, for now I’ll have to check some of the dupes. 😛
Hopefully one of the dupes will work out for you, Carla!
This is just the sort of shade that appeals to me, and Bite Beauty is one of “my” brands – I wish this weren’t limited edition.
However, I finally scored an OCC “Demure” Lip Tar, and the colors look pretty similar.
Glad Demure is similar enough for ya!
Demure is gorgeous!
I paid top dollar for it, too, since it’s discontinued. 🙁
I always seem to want what I can’t have.
I’m looking hard at UD Ladyflower, though, and maybe Inglot or Face Stockholm has a dupe, too.
I bet Inglot has a dupe!
Wow, that’s a LOT lighter on than I would have expected from the image on the Sephora website. Comparing colors on the Internet is near impossible, bit it looks a bit to me like Bite’s VIB Rouge exclusive Lilac, which is not at all the color of lilacs… Might be an option for people who missed this one but love Bite’s formula? Maybe some other reader owns both and could compare.
Thank you for the suggestion, Emma!
