Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl
Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl

Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark berry purple.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned purple with a glossy, creamy finish. It was mostly opaque with smooth, even color coverage that wore well for five hours on me. The formula was lightly hydrating, comfortable to wear, and not sticky. Finding dupes is harder for this type of formula, as most glosses aren’t this opaque. Milani Ravish Raspberry (06) (P, $5.49) is much pinker, lighter. Maybelline Amethyst Potion (045) (P, $8.99) is sheerer, lighter. MAC Heroine (LE, $15.00) is brighter. MAC Narcissus (LE, $20.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Boom Boom (210) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “hot pink.” It’s a bright, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and fine iridescent shimmer. It rich, full color coverage that went on beautifully. The color applied without looking streaky or settling into lip lines. It wore well for five hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating, comfortable to wear, and didn’t feather or bleed. Revlon HD Pink Ruby (515) (P, $8.99) is darker, redder. MAC Pink Poodle (By Request) (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Revlon Adorned (P, $7.49) is redder, darker. Estee Lauder Violet Rain (LE, $22.50) is darker, more shimmery. Burberry Pink Sweet Pea (LE, $29.00) is slightly darker, less neon. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I have Truth or Dare and it is BEAUTIFUL. I like that on its own its fully opaque but it still mixes well with lipsticks for customizing the color. I didn’t know until you posted the G*psy gloss that there was a color in the line named that. So even though I love the product, I feel a little badly about owning Truth or Dare now that I know there’s a slur in the line (I normally avoid brands that use this term). This color pairs amazingly well with everything though. Sigh. Estee Lauder Reckless is a good one to mix.

(Truly OT but Stavros, Liam, and Julian came today! When Richard finally comes, my 6-piece set will be complete. Of course I put Stavros on right away and it is BREATHTAKING. What a gorgeous color! So far it seems to lean a hint grayer and more lilac on me than you [whereas you got all those lovely mauve-tones]. I love that it probably turns into something special on everyone. What a great color. I already wish there was a full size :P)

Marc Jacobs named all of his beauty products after his favorite movies, movie stars, musicians, and songs. That particular one was named after his favorite Fleetwood Mac song, so there is absolutely no reason why someone shouldn’t purchase it based on the name. Stevie Nicks was not being derogatory, so clearly Marc Jacobs is not as well. Just wanted to clarify that for everyone.

Oooh, Truth or Dare is gorgeous!! I don’t like paying a lot for HE lipglosses if I can find a cheaper dupe, but this one is harder to dupe, and some of the dupes were LE. I have a $25 VIB Rouge coupon that’s burning a whole in my pocket and trying to figure out what I want to buy (besides everything)….decisions, decisions

I was thinking of some HE lipsticks- Guerlain, Marc Jacobs, or Dior Addict, but as I was pondering my choices, Sephora suddenly sent me notification that the Viseart Eye Palette in Paris Nude was back in stock, so I dropped everything and bought it with the coupon. It’s $ 80 for 12 shadows, but only $ 55 with the coupon. I keep hearing rave reviews, their palettes are constantly sold out, so I’ll see if it lives up to they hype.

Has the MJ line done anything to improve the lipgloss container issue? I know when the line started people were complaining the lipgloss leaked. Have you found that to be true Christine?

<3 I love both of these shades, and I'm particularly jazzed to be able to write this comment while wearing one of these glosses! 😀 Not *these* ones, but I got a sample of Kissability as part of my epic loot yesterday, and it is the first item I tried on!

Say – do you find that these have, for a few minutes after application, a vague cold/minty/plumping feel to them? It's not a detraction for me, as there was no OMGFATLIPS thing going on afterwards, but I did wonder if I was imagining it… 😛

OT: Both of these colours are fabulous! I don't know what it is about the vague muted thing that so many of MJ's products have is, but I am a total sucker for it 😀 I really hope they release Cabaret as part of the permanent line someday…

There’s definitely a minty feel. A pleasant one like you just ate a mint candy and can still taste/feel it, but not the overt tingle of irritation that won’t go away (thankfully). And I’m a sucker for the MJ line too. Needs to work on some of the names, but the product itself is excellent. The muted aspect is definitely appealing.
