5 Favorites: Neutral Eyeliners (Sephora Contour Eye Pencil Edition)
As promised, here are five of my favorite more neutral/basic shades of from Sephora’s Contour Eye Pencils. You can see all the shades I’ve reviewed here. I really like the more pearly/metallic finish shades, as they tended to have the creamiest consistency and most pigmentation in a single pass. What are your favorite budget-friendly eyeliners for basics?
- Sephora Flirting Game — a cool-toned, taupe brown with a pearly sheen
- Sephora Cocoa — a warm, dark brown with a pearly sheen
- Sephora Sun Tan — a pop of metallic copper-brown
- Sephora Girls Night Out — a warm, honey gold with a metallic finish
- Sephora 5th Avenue — a deepened gray with a matte finish
The golds look perfect for the holiday season!
Very true! 🙂
These are really beautiful. They give a nice oomph to the neutral colors.
They are!
Looks like I need Suntan now! Its fun to see you doing these Sephora Contour Eye Pencil posts Christine. Ive enjoyed them for so long now and always wondered why they didn’t get more love across the board.So..yay 🙂
Sun Tan is so nice for neutral looks that need a lil’ kick!
Oooh I bet the taupe one looks pretty.
It is!
I think I’m going to have to check out Flirting Game. I suppose my favourite neutrals from the line would be Diving in Malaysia (again) which, for the longest time, I thought was called “Driving in Malaysia”, which I much preferred as it sounded a bit quirkier, and also Cappuccino (I’m so boring – I already listed these 2 in an earlier discussion).
Staples are only kind of boring. But they’re so useful!
Again, very nice! I bought my Sephora Liners on sale.. Could that possibly be why they were duds? Others have responded enthusiastically about having no problems upon opening these, so I wonder, and also want to try the freezer as suggested. 🙂 May I ask if any liners make your eyes itch? Thanks! 🙂
I really have no idea! I’ve bought them on and off since they released, including sets, and they’ve all been pretty consistent in terms of being built – some are weaker than others re: pigmentation. I have issues wearing eyeliner on my upper lash line, but it seems more related to the space between my lashes vs. specific product), but on my lower lash line, it’s rare anything bothers it. There are some really glittery products that can make my eyes water if the glitter gets in them.
That’s good to hear! Someday I’ll have to give them another chance. 😀
Nice picks! These are all SO gorgeous, the colors are universally flattering, and the price is reasonable. Well done, Sephora! It’s another brand that doesn’t get that much respect or attention, but there are definitely gems in their product line.
This formula is for sure one of those gems!
Flirting Game is really nice.
It is! So great for neutral looks.
I really must take a closer look at the eye pencils when I go to Sephora later in the week. They have an impressive range of very pretty colours I must say.
There are SO many shades!
All gorgeous – all beautiful. So stunning. Thank you for the review Christine.
Sure thing! 🙂
These are actually $10.00 in store and online. I just bought 3 of these and can’t wait to test these out 🙂
Yay!! Which three?
Cocoa is a weekly favorite that I’ve worn over a year now. It has a subtle shimmer that adds a little pop.
Totally agree!
I love Cocoa! I use it everyday. Great formula and it’s only $10! Sephora brand products are seriously underrated sometimes.
Right? These are really good (on par with most high-end eyeliners!).
I love these! Already had Galaxy Girl, bought Sailor Suit and Tango Night yesterday. Used Sailor Suit today with the rose golds & burgundy in Lorac Unzipped: GORGEOUS! Going to get Cappuccino and Flirting Game or Sun Tan next.
Niceeee!
Hi Christine! You mentioned that these Sephora liners are your favourite formula, period. So, you would recommend their liner set instead of the Marc Jacob’s skyhigh set?
Hi Germaine,
I said they’re one of my favorites, just to be clear 🙂 They are my top favorite for budget-friendly, though! Their liner set is nice, but the only reason I would hesitate is that you’re not going to find MJB sets often, and it’s an incredible value compared to full-size pricing. When MJB works, they’re amazing and wear really, really long, but they aren’t all amazing.
Girls’ Night Out is such a lovely ‘proper gold’! I really need a gold eyeliner in my life… it’s kind of ridiculous that I don’t have one yet. I’ll also take 5th Avenue (as a nice alternative to black) and Flirting Game (because pretty) while I’m at it, k? 😉
Love, love it for its molten-ness.
Thanks to your review, i bought Flirting game and i LOVE it!! Perfect color for my waterline that does not make my eyes look smaller and has wonderful staying power!
Yayyyyyyy!!
