Becca Champagne Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review, Photos, Swatches
Becca Champagne Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed
Becca Champagne Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.28 oz.) is described as a “soft warm gold.” It’s a brightened, light-medium yellow gold with a frosted sheen and warm undertones. Dior Gold Shock (001) (LE, $80.00) is less sparkly, slightly darker, but it looks similar on. Cle de Peau Gold (12) (P, $55.00) is lighter. Giorgio Armani No. 04 (P, $59.00) is a liquid product, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The performance of this shade is consistent with the rest of the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powders. It had really good color payoff that was buildable, blendable, or easily applied as true-to-pan color, if desired. The texture of the powder was soft, almost creamy, and very smooth. This shade does run yellow, not just gold, and so it may not work as universally as some of the other shades. The only downside to Becca’s formula is that it is more frosted, so a little goes a long way and too much can emphasize pores. It’s one of those products where it’s better to build up to the desired luminosity level, but the good thing is that even if you feel like you’ve gone overboard, you can easily buff it back down to a soft, luminous sheen that gives skin a glow but doesn’t emphasize imperfections. I prefer using fan brushes with highlighters like these, as it is almost impossible to over-apply! On me, this highlighter wore well for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

Despite the fact that I have a warm undertone, I’m not too sure about yellow highlighters. It looks pretty on you, but I think I’ll pass!
I can see it not being for everyone, but I like that it’s more of an add-on to their range, rather than “here’s all we got! make it work!”
I can easily see this being absolutely gorgeous on warm ebony skin tones! Seriously, finding really pale makep is a complaint that some more companies have finally started getting close to, affordably, but the search for those lovely darker skin colors must be frustrating! I can only hope that more options become available to all through less expensive and non- pro brands so that all are equally able to play. (A caveat of mine)
Yes, both ends of the spectrum are sometimes ignored, and who gets more ignored depends on the brand and type of products, I think (for foundation, I know very, very pale find it troublesome, but it seems like many brands forget medium-dark and beyond for foundation).
Exactly! The really beautiful woman of color.. Where are the affordable quality colors for them? Foundation, conealer, highlight… This is NOT a beige/tan world! I know that I, myself, don’t even fit into a “season,” or “sub-season,” so lippies and all makeup is an expensive task! Looking at pictures of GORGEOUS dark complexions, I realized they have to battle! To find a dark color is difficult, more so to match with undertone.. Racism makes me sick.
For women of deeper skin tones, Motives Cosmetics has started a line just dedicated to skin tones that are hard to match through mainstream brands. Darker skin tones with red undertones or blue undertones and such; they custom blend the shades to your needs.
So highlight.
Much gold.
Many yellow.
Wow.
It is definitely a yellow one!
That comment made my day
LOL, hilarious, and my thoughts exactly!
Wow, this makes Diors look like a bad knock off
Indeed!
Hi Christine! I observed that you always use the Les Violettes loose powder. i may have missed a review on this but, do you like this better than the compact? I have the compact… thanks a lot!
They’re interchangeable to me, though I probably like the compact a little more, but you get a lot more product with the loose.
So excited mine is in the mail right now! I collect these! Hoping that is looks great on my dark skin tone!
Let us know how it looks on you, C Jay!
I think a shade like this would be idealnon deeper (albeit warm) skintones!
Will this work on light skin tones?
It could – the yellow may be more prominent on lighter complexions than mine!
I love the idea of this one so much, but I assume that the color itself wouldn’t be ideal for my skin tone.
It might be worth trying in store if you’re able to — you never know!
I picked this up a few weeks ago, from Amazon.com . I have a very deep skin tone ( MAC Matchmaster 9.0 ), and this looks amazing on me. It gives my skin such a beautiful glow. Very complimentary for deeper skin tones. It may not work as well, for people with a fair complexion though. It’s a potent yellow gold color.
So happy to hear it working well for your deeper complexion! 🙂 I was hoping it would be rockin’ for darker skin tones!
When I first swatched this a few weeks ago in ULTA, I immediately thought how gorgeous this would be on deeper skintones!
I dont like it at all as a highliter, might be better for eyeshadow
It would be a nice eyeshadow, too!
This is definitely a little to yellow for me, I think. I don’t own any of the Becca Highlighters but if I were to go for one, it would most likely be the Rose Gold. I’ll probably get one eventually because I’ve heard nothing but good things. This one does look nice on you, Christine!
Rose Gold is a pretty one!
What’s with all the shimmery yellow powders lately? No likey.
They often work well on deeper skin tones 🙂
It looks great on you. I like Shimmering Perfector.
Thanks, Jae! 😀
Isn’t it limited edition? Or is the design limited edition and the actual powder permanent?
That’s what I was told – it’s permanent but like Rose Gold, the pattern is LE. I’ll try to get confirmation again, though!
I just got an email back from Becca who is confirming it is limited edition!
Thanks! Ill have to pick it up then! Right? lol
I swatched this in store and I have to say, the yellow tones in it made me run away! haha maybe I just need to see it applied before I totally rule it out! 🙂
It’s worth seeing it on, I think!
Adds such a pretty, subtle glow .. <3
Monica.
It does!
This is gorgeous! It would look so good on those with medium / dark skin tones. I’m so pale this would make me look jaundiced!
Have you tried or looked at Becca’s other shades? At least three are very nice for lighter skin tones!
Wow it is very yellow lol. I was expecting a little more gold but it’s still a rather pretty highlight. I like it!
I bet it would look rockin’ on you!
I saw this on Grav3yardGirl’s channel, and was instantly interested in swatches. This looks stunning!
Glad ya liked it!
I really like this, but I’m concerned about just how yellow it really is! I didn’t know if that wore down from the top, leaving a more champagne like color? I’m lazy right now. How close is this to moonstone? I’m predicting a pressed Becca Shimmering skin Perfector palette!!! I love the color on your lips! An ethereal look 🙂
Nope, yellow all the way through!
Holy Gold Lamé, Batman! Not for me! But for a black woman with a warm undertone, I bet this is perfect!
Darker skin tones have said it works well for them!
Now, that looks so much better than the Dior Gold Shock. I think both are just way too yellow for my tastes, but this one is done right.
Exactly! So much better!
I was really hoping I’d love this one, but it does seem quite yellow.
It is definitely a yellow-based highlighter!
I really like this and think it would look great on me!
Yayyyy! I bet it would, Cat!
I could see this as a summer makeup thing for me maybe. I think it would be to yellow on my light-medium skin now. Is it limited? I thought it was part of their holiday set. But, I don’t see that it is in your review. I agree with these being very intense. I own opal, moonstone, and rose gold. The rose gold, I am using as a blush or over a blush. They are lovely. I use a fan brush and still go very light with it. I am 39 though, and noticeable highlight that is powder emphasizes my fine lines I feel. Looks stunning on you as always!
ULTA said it wasn’t, but Becca is saying it is limited.
I am hovering ultas’s website debating to pick this up and thought id look at your swatches again,lol..such an iffy shade for me..I was hoping more gold. I also noticed that I said I was 39 in that comment..ugh. I am 38! 39 is 4 months away! I can’t believe I aged myself here!..lol.
lol! 🙂
So.. .wound up ordering it . I had a 20% off coupon for Ulta.I rationalizd it as a “save for summer” or layer with a matte blush. Plus,Ulta is good with their return policy (if u have your receipt). Crossing my fingers it doesnt pull super yellow.:)
Crossing my fingers, too! 😀
Any chance you’ll be reviewing other new Becca releases, like the three piece spotlight set?
Not sure!
Please do!
I bought two of the soufflés based on your review this summer, and they are among my favorite products. I want to try more, but the Sephora closest to my house doesn’t carry it in stores, and I’m told that most do not. So more reviews and swatch pictures online are needed! Your reviews are the most informative and reliable, and there’s very little out there about this brand!
Aww, thank you so much, K! 🙂
Oh…WOW that is yellow. It’s a proper buttercup! ^_^ Then I look and see the Giorgio Armani one in the dupe list, LOL! I think I’ll stick with Chanel’s holiday highlighter from this year for my ice queen face (if I can get a hold of it…), but I admit I’m curious how this would look on me.
I feel like I might end up looking like an extra from a ’60s sci-fi movie though…(not a bad thing, necessarily, depending on your mood!)… 🙂
LOL! I think the Giorgio Armani shade is the yellowest I have seen, but it sheerer in general, so not nearly as yellow as one would expect.
at least your arm doesn’t look sickly:) i have the yellow armani maestro that i really like. i haven’t used it in a while, but i should. this becca one is pretty, but i think one super yellow highlighter is enough for me.
That’s true 😉 The shimmer helps, I think!
I have Becca’s liquid version in Champagne Gold, and while it looks very yellow in the tube, it applies much sheerer and less yellow – it gives a beautiful slightly pearly glow on fair skin.
Yeah, the liquid versions of the Perfectors are definitely sheerer 🙂
Yes, this was the one, but I’ll be looking for the rose gold version!
Yay!
This post completely enabled me to buy 2 highlighters yesterday; however, neither were the Becca one. 🙂 I got the Chanel and Cle De Peau dupes. The Chanel one was available on eBay. I had eyed the CDP one when you posted it first, but rationalized that I didn’t need another highlighter. I think Gold will look better on my complexion then the sea of silvery shimmer I have. The Chanel one may just be one I look at- similiar to the lace pattern one I have and have used 3 times so I don’t disturb the lace.
Enjoy your new highlighters, Faith! All good choices.
