Round-up: MAC Heirloom Mix Collection Overview & Thoughts
MAC Heirloom Mix Collection
MAC Heirloom Mix Collection will launch online on October 19th and be available in-stores and at counters on October 23rd. It’s a limited edition collection for the holiday season, and it has special, glossy black packaging with silver flecks of sparkle/glitter (but the packaging is smooth, you can’t feel the glittery bits at all). The Pressed Pigments are smaller this time around, just for reference. The lipsticks are the best-performing overall, though there is one miss (Tribalist), which is an area where MAC tends to shine. The Cremesheen Glasses have a nice texture, but they don’t wear long, often settle into lip lines or apply unevenly. The Pressed Pigments are always interesting, and I think they’re prettier in person and tend to look best just one or two at a time, but they can be crumbly, sometimes chunky and difficult to work with, and they all have fall out during wear to some degree (some are worse than others).
- BEST PERFORMING: Dark Majesty Fluidline (A), No Faux Pas Lipstick (A), Rebel Lipstick (A), Salon Rouge Lipstick (A-), Sparks of Romance Lipstick (A-), Sweet Sentiment Mineralize Blush (A-)
- WORST PERFORMING: Gentrified Fluidline (C+), Prim and Proper Pressed Pigment (C+), Tribalist Lipstick (C)
- MOST UNIQUE: Enchantment Pressed Pigment (B-), Prim and Proper Pressed Pigment (C+)
- PERSONALLY RECOMMENDED: Sweet Sentiment Mineralize Blush (A-),

I so wish I wasn’t allergic to Mac products. Every time I see your posts including Mac products it makes me want to risk the allergic reaction to try out these beautiful cosmetics!
Aw, that is really bad 🙁 Do you know what ingredients that cause it?
Nothing really stands out, uh oh! Who am I kidding, I’ll probably end up with the lipsticks, blushes and some pressed pigments anyway. Thanks for the early reviews! 🙂
No prob!
I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work on all the posts today. It must have been really hectic trying to get it all done.
Sure thing! 🙂
I love the colours in this collection, and the fact that *gasp* MAC released some col toned eyeshadows!! 😉 I wish more stuff rated above a B though 🙁 Did I miss the loose pigment/glitter (?) review, or is it one you’ve reviewed previously? 🙂
It’s permanent, so I don’t know that I’ll bother to write it up (since it is also glitter, and thus, there is nothing to really say other than that it is purple). I’m pretty sure I have covered it the past, but I haven’t checked yet!
Will you be reviewing the nail polishes?
Sorry, I do not have them.
I really like the report cards.
This is a pretty nice looking collection, pity that there are so many B and below.
I will absolutely try to get Victorian Plum and Sparks of Romance.
Thank you! 🙂
O.K., so I’ve decided. If this collection comes here, Rebel, Courting Chic and one of the pigments (either Enchantment or Modern Majesty) are on my list! Thank you for the overview and in depth reviews as always, Christine. 🙂
Happy to help, Kimmy!
I don’t know how you keep up with all the constantly new products from MAC plus everything else you test and review! At first glance, I thought there was nothing I needed/wanted, but then I noticed the brick red shade in the Heirloom lipstick collection. Looking forward to seeing that swatch!
A lot of coffee 🙂
What’s the difference between pressed eye shadow and pressed pigment?
Oh duh – I just read your review where you detail exactly what the difference is, thanks.
Glad I could help 🙂
I can’t believe your uber-quick work on this collection!! I check your site every day (often several times a day LOL) and today I’m like WOAH WOAH WHERE DID ALL THIS COME FROM?? You are a legend! I’m in for a happy morning browsing all of these posts!! Thank you so much!
Haha!
Looks like this collection turned out to be pretty nice quality. I look forward to checking it out in stores soon. I just have to see that packaging in person like now lol
It’s decent – not great, not horrible!
Online oct 19th a Sunday?
Omg! Is all I can say I’m in love.
You are truly amazing for doing this entire collection. So very appreciated!
That’s what they said!
All in all a solid collection but I really only liked one or two things from it.
What’s on your list?
Thank you for the reviews and swatches! I will be getting 4/5 lipsticks and Courting Chic! 🙂
Which lipstick are you skipping? 😀
Pressed pigments!!!
I take it someone is a fan 😉
Some of the pressed pigments look pretty, I might check those out 🙂
Let me know how you like ’em!
Exactly What happened to the Mac heirloom launch.. so pissed Nothing today
Sorry, the only info I have is what MAC gave me with the press release. You might try contacting them 🙂
Can someone clarify one thing for me, please?
One glitter in this collection “Reflects Antique Gold” is now labeled as just ‘Gold’ on MAC’s website (it was clearly stated as the Reflects one previously). So which one is it, Gold glitter or THE Reflects Antique Gold?
Thank you.
