I really mix it up, but I’d say gray is my workhorse neutral and purple is my go-to color.
Urban decay 24/7 in underground. It’s my perfect every day shade for brown eyes and fair skin when I want minimal eye makeup. 🙂
Underground is also a staple for me 🙂 Such a great shade and formula!
UD Hustle 24/7 liner, which is a medium-dark, metallic brown.
Probably black, but teal comes in pretty close second.
I like black mainly for my upper lashline. But to line my waterline and smudge out, I go for a warm brown. Crazy, I know. I do like to wear the occasional bright eyeshadow as liner though.
Good ol’ black. But for actual color, it would be UD LSD. I love that color.
Of course black but I use purple when I have an important night with my friends or with him.
What about your?
Sparkley taupe!
Lately it’s been rose gold. My favorites also include bronze, dark brown, olive, and purple.
All shades of grey, warmer or cooler, cream or metallic in finish, love love love!
All shades of grey, warmer or cooler, cream or metallic in finish, love love love!
Brown. I gravitate more towards neutrals looks at the moment and I like how browns (shimmery or matte) shape my eyes discreetly but effectively.
Various dark, almost-black purples! I also use Tarina Tarantino Broken Doll on my waterline pretty much all the time.
I’m torn between black and blue!
Black
Black. I’m not really a fan of coloured eyeliner. I only really use black, grey and brown. I prefer to wear a pop of bright eyeshadow rather than bright liner.
A Black-Brown! Usually MAC Coffee or Teddy although these days I am really enjoying MAC’s Lor it Up on the lash lines!
I’d say it’s pretty even between black (UD Perversion pencil is my favorite) and purple. I have 25-30 different purple eyeliners. Purple makes the green in my hazel eyes really pop.
Matte Brown. I have dozens of colored eyeliners and I love black ones, but at the end I mostly gravitate to brown. It’s more natural and wearable for me. My favorite one is MAC Coffee.
Aubergine or Dark Brown – about 50/50 😉
It’s a tie between teal and purple.
definately – BLACK!!
An almost black brown – either GOSH Metallic Brass or Sephora Diving in Malaysia.
Black, but I would wear teal if I found a good one. lol
Have you tried Dolce & Gabanna in Peacock? It’s a beautiful, medium teal color that can be built up to a darker teal. It goes on like a dream and, on me, it doesn’t fade or smudge all day. Definitely one of my favorites!
Oh, black, easy.
SNAP! 😀 Go teal!
Technically it’s tied with bark brown, as I almost always have Demolition on my waterlines even if I have another shade on my lash line. 😉
Christine, I was just thinking about this question (or, more rightly, your answer – which I knew would be “teal’) and I was wondering….in an average week, how often do you get to wear the makeup YOU want to wear rather than products you’re testing? Would it be 1 day a week? One day every two weeks? I realize it must change depending on which huge collections have come out, etc., but I just wondered “on average” how often you can do this. I’d bet others are curious too.
Hey Mariella!
Like full makeup? Maybe once a month – usually just in the evening so I’ll test something during the day for 8-10 hours, then remove and redo for dinner out or something like that. Mostly for special occasions like anniversary dinner!
Building on that question, is there a time limit on how long you’ll keep reviewed makeup in storage before tossing it? (I just found some eye and lip liners from my days in cosmetology school that are four years older than my oldest daughter, and she’s 22! LOL)
It just depends – I usually do a major sift through every six months, and any time a brand reformulates, I toss the original formula (I might keep one or two more unique shades for posterity).
Apart from black, anything golden or generally warm, because it makes my eyes look slightly bluer. Or purple if I want to bring out the green 🙂 I stay away from blues and teals, unless I’m recreating a look.
(sorry for bad English)
Your english is great!
Black. It is a staple for me and goes with everything.
I have more eye liner colors, but never touch them while I use up black eye liners all the time.
Urban Decay Roach is my go-to shade!
me too!!!! I love roach, it goes with every eye look!!!!
Black!
The boring black… Apart from that bronzes, plums and navys have my heart 🙂
Aqua or orange.
Brown (all variants). I’m not super pale (NC25-30ish) but I still find black is too harsh for me.
I suppose black, brown, bronze, and plum.
Blues and greens. They really make brown eyes pop!
Blacken Brown and Copper.
Black I guess but I rarely wear eyeliner
On my top line: Black
Lower lash line: Teal/Green, Purple, and Black
MAC NC50
Actually teal green or blue on the lower lash line.
Usually green or purple (or also black)
It would have to be dark matte brown – specifically Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Brown Blaze. Complete workhorse for me! Black would be a close second, though since I bought MAC Undercurrent I have worn it a LOT!!
Does black count? . . .
But second to that, I use gold a lot!
I don’t really wear any… I have been enjoying the Nars Night Series, just to do something different, but normally I don’t as I feel they only make my eyes look smaller. I guess. I have been wearing taupe-y or khakis, as well. I am a neutral gal for sure.
Grey – Marc Jacobs (Stone)Fox is a staple and the shimmer is a nice twist on a traditional shade. UD Smoke, Chantecaille Hematite, and Laura Mercier Slate are also favorites.
Bronze-y browns are a close second with Marc Jacobs Brown(out) being my favorite at the moment.
When I want something totally different, I grab Clinique Quickliner in Intense Aubergine, which is a deep, inky plum that makes my blue-grey eyes pop.
Brown or navy I guess. I like emerald too to mix it up a bit.
i used to only wear black, but now I find that a dark, cool, matte brown is a softer look and more flattering to my older eyes. Sometimes I will pull out the black again. I am partial to the Kat VD eyeliner pen because I can get a really fine line with it.
Only black. I´m THAT boring. :/
Brown!!
I’m with you on teal! Also blackened green or interesting greens like MAC Undercurrent. Black for most of the professional occasions. I recently fall in love with soft brown with shimmers and purples.
Definitely something taupe-ish, I love Urban Decay’s Mushroom.
The new Hourglass Mechanical Gel Eye Liner (Obsidian/Black) has been my go-to lately. I love how close I can get to the lashline with it. I know some people had smudging issues with it, but it’s worked great for me. I am hoping it will come out in more colors.
I mostly wear black winged eyeliner and I love the boobi brown gel eyeliner in black ink with the mac 266 brush 🙂 when I wear something on the waterline (other than nude)its a dark purple because it makes my dark brown eyes pop xx
I wear black more than anything these days because I frequently just line my upper waterline these days. So boring of me! I used to wear a bright turquoise or teal.
I wear always black eyeliner. Want to try some
Colors but have to find a good brand first.
And ofcourse look if I can pull it of lol
Definitely black.
PLUM, for sure!
I have green eyes and NW15 skin, so a deep plum liner plays up my eye color and adds definition without looking harsh. My “go-to” is Trish McEvoy Eye Definer in Deep Aubergine. I also occasionally wear dark brown or black, applied very close to my top lash lines. Since recently turning 50, I’ve become paranoid about my makeup looking harsh.
stila stay all day waterproof liquid eyeliner in intense black for the top eyelid.
Lately it’s been Urban Decay’s Crave – a brown/black. If I’m wearing a true black, it is Perversion.
Dark brown and black
I like fluffing around with all sorts of colours: if I’m not wearing any eyeshadow then I’ll wear black, brown, blue, green and purple liquid eyeliners on my upper lash line. If I am wearing eyeshadow then I’ll wear black or brown mainly with a green or violet pencil on my lower waterline(unless I’m going out somewhere fancy schmancy at night when I’ll wear black on my lower waterline for a bit of drama !)
I switch it up a lot, but no matter what color wing I’m going for, I usually throw a thin black wing under it, tightline (at least the top lashes) in black – or toss a flesh color on the bottom waterline. Solo-colorwise it’s probably blood red or burgundy.
Black tightline. Burgundy or deep purple or sans eyeliner.
Black for sure, because I line my upper lid pretty much every day with black. I usually do color liner on my lower waterline though!
Mac RIch Ground fluidline. The coppery color matches my hair so it looks very natural and gives my eyes definition without looking harsh. Even most browns look to harsh on me and the copper color makes my eyes look bluer. I do wear black but only for night time looks when I don’t care about looking natural.
On my upper lash line, black and navy are used about equally. On the lower lash line, it varies by season but mostly teal or purple.
Black is my staple eyeliner color obviously, but my favorite colored or more interesting colored eyeliner is purple or an olive, deeper green. It really makes my brown eyes pop.
All shades of green and teal, black in fall and winter, also aubergine.
Deep Brown. I like to subtlely enhance my eyes and be bold with my lips and cheeks.
Just black if I’m doing a winged liner. Since my eyes are hooded, I often go big or go home with winged liner since smaller wings look odd and misshapen on me. Sometimes I’ll wear a deep purple liner on my lower lash line like Urban Decay Empire pencil.
My colors of choice are, dark brown, black and teal.
Been wearing UD 24/7 Tornado all summer… eggplant! It’s so much softer than black but still punches.
Urban Decay Bourbon. It is just a perfect brown for me. It makes my eyes look really green, and it wears really well and long. I have a few other 24/7 eyeliners, but this color seems to be the one I use the most. I just love it.
I’m boring… all I wear is black. BUT I just bought a cobalt so I’m mixing it up!
Aubergine liquid eyeliner by Lancôme is my fav
Coppery browns and warm, redder rather than blue plums. Really bring out the green and blue in my hazel eyes. It’s very difficult to find good warm plums. any suggestions?
I love Clinique intense peacock. Which is teal. My other go to colors are intense ebony, chocolate, ivy and amethyst all clinique intense. Stay on all day with no tugging.
Bronze
I have black lashes and so I always use black to tightline my upper lashes. For actual eyeliner, I use dark shades of eyeshadow smudged along my lower and upper lashes with my preference being for blackened colors. When I worked, black, grey, and brown were my go-to liners. Now that I’m retired, I have a bit more fun with subtle color.
I use physicems formula black liner pin the. Most.
Always go with black eyeliner.
I wear colored gel liner every day. I try to coordinate with whatever I’m wearing. My favorite formula is NARS Eye Paints – used to be YSL cream liners, but they’ve apparently discontinued the product. Too bad. Black Bronze was a favorite – I bought backups!
Now my favorite NARS are Snake Eyes and Ubangi. Bal Bek is a great neutral – sort of like YSL’s Black Bronze
Black!
Browns & bronzes of all kinds! But I love purples & black too 😀
Clinique Cake Eyeliner in Black and often in Brown. I like that I can get it closer to my lash line than I can with pencil liners, and I have more control of the shade depth than I get with creams or pencils.
Bobbi Brown Black, Granite or Cobalt if I’m wearing cool colors, Nars Brown if I’m wearing warm colors.
I mostly use brown and black eyeliner.. But I love blue, deep purple and deep green as well! As you can imagine I love eyeliners!
Black on the upper lashline and if I thightline, just about any colour on the lower lashline. Quite often a neutral or an almost white on the waterline.
Mainly brown, but peacock blue, green, grey, purple, blue and black make the odd appearance! (I like to experiment!!!)
Black!
aside from black, it’s purple or UD’s stash!
I usually wear a very dark brown eyeshadow as eyeliner. L’Oreal Lush Raven applied with an angled brush and I wet the brush when I want a more dramatic look
