I’m sure you could guess it, but teal!

Black. I’m not really a fan of coloured eyeliner. I only really use black, grey and brown. I prefer to wear a pop of bright eyeshadow rather than bright liner.

I’d say it’s pretty even between black (UD Perversion pencil is my favorite) and purple. I have 25-30 different purple eyeliners. Purple makes the green in my hazel eyes really pop.

Matte Brown. I have dozens of colored eyeliners and I love black ones, but at the end I mostly gravitate to brown. It’s more natural and wearable for me. My favorite one is MAC Coffee.

Have you tried Dolce & Gabanna in Peacock? It’s a beautiful, medium teal color that can be built up to a darker teal. It goes on like a dream and, on me, it doesn’t fade or smudge all day. Definitely one of my favorites!

Christine, I was just thinking about this question (or, more rightly, your answer – which I knew would be “teal’) and I was wondering….in an average week, how often do you get to wear the makeup YOU want to wear rather than products you’re testing? Would it be 1 day a week? One day every two weeks? I realize it must change depending on which huge collections have come out, etc., but I just wondered “on average” how often you can do this. I’d bet others are curious too.

Christine Avatar

Hey Mariella!

Like full makeup? Maybe once a month – usually just in the evening so I’ll test something during the day for 8-10 hours, then remove and redo for dinner out or something like that. Mostly for special occasions like anniversary dinner!

Building on that question, is there a time limit on how long you’ll keep reviewed makeup in storage before tossing it? (I just found some eye and lip liners from my days in cosmetology school that are four years older than my oldest daughter, and she’s 22! LOL)

Apart from black, anything golden or generally warm, because it makes my eyes look slightly bluer. Or purple if I want to bring out the green 🙂 I stay away from blues and teals, unless I’m recreating a look.
(sorry for bad English)

It would have to be dark matte brown – specifically Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Brown Blaze. Complete workhorse for me! Black would be a close second, though since I bought MAC Undercurrent I have worn it a LOT!!

I don’t really wear any… I have been enjoying the Nars Night Series, just to do something different, but normally I don’t as I feel they only make my eyes look smaller. I guess. I have been wearing taupe-y or khakis, as well. I am a neutral gal for sure.

Grey – Marc Jacobs (Stone)Fox is a staple and the shimmer is a nice twist on a traditional shade. UD Smoke, Chantecaille Hematite, and Laura Mercier Slate are also favorites.

Bronze-y browns are a close second with Marc Jacobs Brown(out) being my favorite at the moment.

When I want something totally different, I grab Clinique Quickliner in Intense Aubergine, which is a deep, inky plum that makes my blue-grey eyes pop.

i used to only wear black, but now I find that a dark, cool, matte brown is a softer look and more flattering to my older eyes. Sometimes I will pull out the black again. I am partial to the Kat VD eyeliner pen because I can get a really fine line with it.

The new Hourglass Mechanical Gel Eye Liner (Obsidian/Black) has been my go-to lately. I love how close I can get to the lashline with it. I know some people had smudging issues with it, but it’s worked great for me. I am hoping it will come out in more colors.

I mostly wear black winged eyeliner and I love the boobi brown gel eyeliner in black ink with the mac 266 brush 🙂 when I wear something on the waterline (other than nude)its a dark purple because it makes my dark brown eyes pop xx

Carla Avatar

PLUM, for sure!
I have green eyes and NW15 skin, so a deep plum liner plays up my eye color and adds definition without looking harsh. My “go-to” is Trish McEvoy Eye Definer in Deep Aubergine. I also occasionally wear dark brown or black, applied very close to my top lash lines. Since recently turning 50, I’ve become paranoid about my makeup looking harsh.

I like fluffing around with all sorts of colours: if I’m not wearing any eyeshadow then I’ll wear black, brown, blue, green and purple liquid eyeliners on my upper lash line. If I am wearing eyeshadow then I’ll wear black or brown mainly with a green or violet pencil on my lower waterline(unless I’m going out somewhere fancy schmancy at night when I’ll wear black on my lower waterline for a bit of drama !)

Lee Avatar

Mac RIch Ground fluidline. The coppery color matches my hair so it looks very natural and gives my eyes definition without looking harsh. Even most browns look to harsh on me and the copper color makes my eyes look bluer. I do wear black but only for night time looks when I don’t care about looking natural.

MJ Avatar

Coppery browns and warm, redder rather than blue plums. Really bring out the green and blue in my hazel eyes. It’s very difficult to find good warm plums. any suggestions?

I love Clinique intense peacock. Which is teal. My other go to colors are intense ebony, chocolate, ivy and amethyst all clinique intense. Stay on all day with no tugging.

I have black lashes and so I always use black to tightline my upper lashes. For actual eyeliner, I use dark shades of eyeshadow smudged along my lower and upper lashes with my preference being for blackened colors. When I worked, black, grey, and brown were my go-to liners. Now that I’m retired, I have a bit more fun with subtle color.

Georgia Avatar

I wear colored gel liner every day. I try to coordinate with whatever I’m wearing. My favorite formula is NARS Eye Paints – used to be YSL cream liners, but they’ve apparently discontinued the product. Too bad. Black Bronze was a favorite – I bought backups!

Now my favorite NARS are Snake Eyes and Ubangi. Bal Bek is a great neutral – sort of like YSL’s Black Bronze

Helene Avatar

Black on the upper lashline and if I thightline, just about any colour on the lower lashline. Quite often a neutral or an almost white on the waterline.

Diane Avatar

I usually wear a very dark brown eyeshadow as eyeliner. L’Oreal Lush Raven applied with an angled brush and I wet the brush when I want a more dramatic look
