Can you also find an eyeshadow dupe? 😉
I was also wondering what would happen if you were to wear the lipstick over a red/purple lipliner (full lip colored). Would it take the grey away and make it more brown?

I am so excited to see this! I’ve been waiting and keeping an eye on the MAC site so I can get both once they’re finally for sale. The lipstick is very 90s and tough to wear on its own, but I think blending it with other colors will be fun.

I actually kinda want this lipstick….not for the packaging but for the colour, which probably won’t look good on me, but is so different. The lip glass reminds me of the one that just came out with the Novel Romance Collection….Reckless Desire, although this one has a hint of taupe-grey in it. Very interesting colours. 🙂

I really like the two of them together. I keep looking at the lipstick and thinking “what an amazing colour”. And then I realise that it reminds me a little of Fluid- not that they look alike, but they have a similar frosty neutral coolness that I’m not explaining well- which always looks so beautiful in swatches and looks like colour-draining death on me. I might buy it just for the cause…

I love this!! Being completely honest, I am ecstatic to see something that appears to be made for us brown skinned beauties! MAC and other brands release so many collections that leave me feeling like, I wasn’t considered in the target audience. A lot of the items are targeted to really fair skinned ladies (e.g., the Osbourne collections) and I hate missing out on the action! I am totally loving this and it will look amazing on me!

I have medium/tan skin and I agree. And while I can’t really see myself pulling the lipstick off, I’m excited for those of you who this will look gorgeous on!!

I love it that MAC is releasing risky colors, and that’s what this lipstick is. The lipglass is nice, and I might grab it, but the lipstick is so cool and different.

I’m very intrigued by these. I’m still not seeing mauve, but whatever they want to call it, it’s pretty. And definitely more unique than their past Rihanna shades. I was getting so sick of red, red, red, and I think a lot of other people were, too.

One of my coworkers put me on the hunt for a brown, sparkly l/s+ there were only two + lightish bronze at that, in d/s, Ulta + Sephora. I told her to wait for fall + something was bound to pop up. think this’ll do the trick, though it is a little lighter than she wanted. I doubt she has Rihanna fatigue, as she isn’t a MAC girl, or an anything girl, that I know of. Since it’ll be around, I think I’ll pop it in the cart, when i succumb to MAC madness over the l/ss + blush in Rocky Horror. (and maybe one for me, too. 90s doesn’t even seem retro to me. ) As well as a few outstanding products (both senses of the word) Painterly + Tailor Gray paint pots + VG 1 lip. Never fully bought into MAC. Possibly I thought it was too faddish + LE driven. The colors would be ‘out’ pretty shortly. The more collections they threw, the less I liked it + only went for a few permanent classics mostly lip + some blush. It has always made me feel not so much OLD, as that I outgrew it. But I think I’m on for VGR2 + my friend for VGR2 with gloss. I can’t imagine that i will actually participate in MAC madness, but the stores are over an hour’s drive + I ought to work…

I’ll definitely get the Lipglass since I don’t have anything like it and I like it better than Icon. I’m passing on the brown lip trend. I already did it in the 90s and have the embarrassing pictures to prove it.

Both look really interesting. From the pictures the lipglass looks like Utterly Discrete, one of my favourites. It will be interesting to see your fill review and do some comparisons. My UD is running low!

I’m not a fan, either, nor do I particularly care for MAC lipstick (too high maintenance, and a lot of necessary prep-work), but if you like the shade, go for it! Like Miss J said, proceeds go to a worthy cause-Rhianna has already been paid whether we buy it or not, so why not enjoy?

Jules Avatar

Errr…the lipstick looks just like Icon from the Artificially Wild collection. Doesn’t make much sense to be promoting them at the same time.

I like both the lipglass reminds me of her most recent red sparkly one. I want these for my daughter and myself I am a fan of frosts with creme de la femme beinf my absolute favorite of all MAC lipsticks 🙂

MakeupTray Avatar

I got to try this today. So coincidental that you posted this.
Everyone, this is GORGEOUS!!!! I am fair skiined and this was paired with Artificially Wild. Together it was an incredible look! People kept staring at my lipstick after my makeover . I don’t know what grade Christine will give this but it is an A from me . Get a nude pencil and wear it with both.

I think this is really beautiful, actually. 🙂 I like the purple shimmer in the lipglass, obviously, but I find the lipstick to be such an interesting mix of brown and grey, that my usual aversion to browns (on me) is being re-evaluated… I also like that this is a shade that seems tailored for darker skinned lipstick fans, which is really nice given how much time MAC usually spends releasing reds and white-based pale shades (especially in the Viva Glam, from what I’ve seen). Hopefully if this is really popular, MAC will include more in this line in their subsequent collections!

I wonder if I can justify getting this despite my MAC ban, as all the proceeds are going to a good cause… ;-P

The one thing about MAC lip products is that I love them when layered and customized. I used to be able to do that, but now, with busier life, I need a one lip product and apply it on the go. Love the color combination of the lipstick and lipglass. I think I could pull this combo off with the right lipliner, if I were to get it. I miss those younger days… Sigh!!!!
