5 Tempting Burgundy Eyeshadows

Burgundy can be such a warm and cozy color, which is why it reminds me of autumn! Here are a few of my favorites right now…

  1. Laura Mercier Kir Royal — a satin, warm-toned burgundy
  2. Makeup Geek Burlesque — a shimmery reddish-burgundy
  3. MAC Deep Damson — a matte burgundy
  4. Inglot #452 — a bold, deepened red-burgundy
  5. NARS Subra — a muted, deep burgundy

The good ole Sketch by MAC, though has quite a bit of fall out, Pomegranate Punk by Maybelline used as a base mostly, Fig by MdB (thanks to you, dear), Aubergine by BBrown amongst others… I wear them alone as all over the eye, with just a bit of highlighter in the brown bone, or over a golden/light taupe kind of shade like Nars Dione or Himalia, to intensify the crease and the lower lash line. I might mix them with some warm brown to add drama, or wear them just as a liner, and though my eyes are hazel I find the shade so flattering and just beautiful.

The only burgundies I have are either cream (Maybelline Pomegranate Punk & MAC Artifact-which are really complete dupes!), or “blackened”… I find it harder to find burgundy shadows than cooler browns. I do plan to grab Deep Damson next month, when I do my Pro order, and Subra probably around the Holidays.

Burgundy is one of my favorite makeup shades and I wear it year round, My current burgundy e/s faves are Deep Damson, Sketch and Love’s Lure by Mac. I also like Loreal’s Glistening Garnet Infallible e/s and Rimmel’s Scandaleyes cream e/s in Ponegranate. I like burgandy as a lid and crease color. It’s so versatile.

Deep Damson is one of my favourites. I really like how Kir Royal looks. Pity we don’t have Inglot here, that is a very nice one, I think.
Excellent choises!

I had Sexy on the outer corners and blended into crease. The shimmery pastel green from the Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes 03 palette on the inner two thirds of the lid (just under the crease). For the bottom lid, the shimmery pastel yellow on the inner corner and shimmery dark purple on the outer corner, both also from the Lunasol palette. Lastly, I lined the outer two thirds for the top and a third for the bottom of lids with Serious (black) from the Balm Nude Tude palette.

I like burgundy shadows, because they make my green eyes really pop, but it can be difficult to find shades that don’t give me that awful “conjunctivitis look,” which is NOT a good look for me!
I mean, you don’t want your eye makeup to cause people to gently inquire, “What’s *wrong?*”
But I digress.
In the realm of burgundy shadows, I like Stila Tone, Stila Barefoot Contessa, Illamasqua Forgiveness, and MAC Blackberry.

I love burgundy, purple, red eyeshadows, those are my weakness! (To be honest, all eyeshadows are my weakness, but especially those colours!!). My all time favourite is Kat Von D WTF!! The only eyeshadow in history that I have hit pan on. I really started to worry about it as it was first in a limited edition Candelabra palette, but then it was repromoted into the Spellbinding palette!!!

I just picked up the new MUFE eyeshadows in burgundy, wine and dark pink purple. They’re all matte. I’ve been looking for these crease shades about 10 years! Just beautiful matte shades. I hope you can review some of the new 210 shades. I think MUFE has just hit it out of the ballpark.

I’ve never tried Inglot products before, but that shade looks lovely for Autumn! I find it hard to pull off dark eyeshadows, but I might be daring and try one of these shades 🙂
