bareMinerals The Guilty Pleasures Eyeshadow Duo

bareMinerals The Guilty Pleasures Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a set of warm-toned shades in peach and brown. The two colors playoff each other well, as they can be blended subtly for a more contrasting look or blended more for a smooth gradient. I wish the darker brown shade was more pigmented, though.

Shhh… is described as an “apricot nectar.” It’s a light-medium, peach orange with warm undertones and a soft, satin finish. It had good color payoff that applied smoothly and evenly. The finish is lovely as it adds dimension but doesn’t look shimmery on the lid. It wore well for ten hours before fading. MAC Apricot Blend #3 (LE) is darker. Kat Von D Geek (LE) is slightly darker. Tom Ford Beauty Escapade (LE, $40.00) is a cream product, lighter. MAC Arena (P, $15.00) is darker, browner. bareMinerals Tres Chic (P) is yellower. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Yes Please is described as a “cinnamon brown shimmer.” It’s a softened, medium-dark brown with subtle warm undertones and a satiny finish. It had decent pigmentation, but it wasn’t as pigmented as the Ready formula is usually, which was disappointing. The texture was soft and smooth, so it was still easy to apply and blend out on the skin. It wore well for ten hours before fading. Stila Character (P) is slightly darker. Chanel Tisse Mademoiselle #1 (P) is lighter. Kat Von D Disintegration (P) is darker. theBalm #8 (P, $6.50) is darker. Sleek MakeUP Entwined (P, $9.99) is similar. MAC A Medley of Mauves #4 (P, $21.00) is warmer. MAC Soba (P, $15.00) is warmer, lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It looks beautiful in the packaging and on your eyelids, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price for only 2 eyeshadows. For only $2 more you could get the new Smashbox travel shadows which comes with 8 shadows that have great payoff! Sure, there’s not a shadow in it that is close to the apricot color in the BM one, but there’s some that are close.

Just like all things, there are a variety of products and price points, so it’s a matter of what you’re looking for 🙂

These 2 shades really don’t suit me but oh my – seeing Dazzle applied, I am really interested now in getting it. You’ve done such a lovely look/combo….I wish I was as inspired as you, Christine!

Aw, thank you, Mariella! It helps when you are staring at the two going, “I don’t have time to test you separately… how can you work together?!”

I have similar shades in my stash but something is still drawing me to this. I think it’s the lighter shade. It looks really pretty!

What a gorgeous look Christine! I have so many neutral quads/duos/singles…why do I want this one too? why!! why!! I think…I’m a hoarder 😐 So pretty tho…sigh

Shhh is very nice. I’m not tempted by this duo even though it’s a nice versatile everyday one. I guess I have so many neutrals already.
I like the look you did.

I’m not sure these are my shades (too warm, perhaps?) but I really want to try some Bare Minerals pressed shadows at some point! I don’t think we get even part of the full range here, though…
