MAC Alluring Aquatic Makeup Bag Review & Photos

MAC Alluring Aquatic Makeup Bag

MAC Alluring Aquatic Makeup Bag ($35.00) is described as a “teal clutch … accented with sheer water droplets.” It’s a bluish-teal, medium-sized makeup bag with a translucent, blue-hued zipper pull, darker teal interior, and then “water droplets” on the exterior. I thought the “water droplets” on the actual packaging of the color products in the collection was more believable and well-done; this is interesting, but it’s much subtler, so it looks almost liked a textured packaging but not necessarily water droplets. The interior seems to be made more out of something cloth-like, but it seems like the type of material that would be harder to clean if anything leaked/spilled, so that may be a concern for some. It’s a good size, though, and it will hold longer products like brushes, eyeliners, and the like, as well as bulkier objects like foundation bottles, eyeshadow quads, and so forth. It measures 8 inches / 20.5 centimeters in length, 4.5 inches / 12 centimeters in height, and 2 inches / 5 centimeters in depth at its widest point. It has a lot of give and is malleable, so you can definitely cram it full of makeup goodies if you’re tight on space!

The price is very high, and honestly I dont think its worth it. It appears to look very cheap or junkie with the dew drops. Also, the fact that i got my favorite (caboodles) train case for less would make me feel cheated on! If it had a nicer design in my opinion it would be a better purchase, but personally I’d rather spend that money on makeup!

The problem with MAC bags, IMO, is just that they don’t have the designer/luxury brand backing of say Kate Spade, Tory Burch, etc. might have (and I think those are better constructed in general), yet there are so many great, versatile makeup bags to be had for under $15 so if you’re not looking for brand appeal, it’s totally unnecessarily to buy MAC bags.

I find it telling and frankly, quite amazing that you still receive products for review despite your honest thoughts on their products – it shows that both the retailers and the readers trust you, and that makes me a very happy and satisfied reader of Temptalia because what I see is really what I get (notwithstanding our own different skin conditions).

Please continue doing what you love!

Thank you so much! 🙂 I’m very fortunate to have been able to build trust with my readers and can say that honesty really does pay off – over and over again. Readers always come first, because without people reading, there’s no blog! From what I have heard from brands, they find my feedback fair/balanced, and they really feel good when they get a good grade.

On the one hand, I love the clear teal plastic accents and the overall colour, and I have a crippling addiction to cute little makeup bags…but on the other hand, I second what you mention about the way the water droplets look on this one not being quite as cool as the other stuff…given how little I need another makeup bag, that last point is a deal breaker! 😛

*relief* 😉

So sweet that you add the measurements in centimeters for those abroad, too! :))

The bag looks nice but really very expensive but anyways it was sold out here in the blink of an eye 😀

Maybe because it was only available through MAC Online? It was not even in MAC Stores, but I think that depended upon the country. On some blog from a neighbourcountry I saw a post where the bag was shown at MAC itself. But in general the collection sold out with lightning speed (in Germany). It could also be because many people were reminded of the “Lure” – limited edition.

But I think MAC here has fewer items for sale than in other countries for most collections. Usually the only items left after a few days are really unpopular colours or things like eyeliner and such. That might explain why they stick to the outrageous prices that some other commenters here and I have mentioned for Central Europe. Limited Edition trumps the price at most occasions, it seems, because it´s not like anyone thinks that MAC’s prices are a good deal, but it’s LE and it´s prettyyy and thus it’s bought anyways. I don’t exclude myself from that argumentation but because I definitely have enough make-up, I do buy a lot less now.

I don’t have a decent make up bag yet, and my favourite colour is navy blue, but this teal bag is pretty much what I’d gun for!

honestly? i’ve seen much better makeup bags that come for free with GWPs, Asia/JP magazines. Paying for this? I’d rather buy 2 more of those magazines that comes with pretty brand pouches!
