Golds/medium bronzes – they’re easy to wear as a single color or incorporated with a darker bronze or taupe.

Cream eyeshadows that are a soft color withsome metallic sheen, or even sparkle (depending on the look). My favorites are Rubenesque (MAC Paint Pot), Holy Smokes! (Benefit) and Chilled on Ice (MAC, if worked right). I also love taupe eyeshadows, like Maybelline Tough as Taupe.

For a pop of color, any bright color is okay, but I love matte brights like Surfin’ USA (Sephora Collection) and Banana Split (Sephora Collection)

Shimmering beiges or anything taupe. They look good against my skintone and can easily be played up with a bit of color or some black liner for a statement evening look.

Olives.

I have very pale yet olive skintone, so olives look very neutral on me (I believe that more neutral than beiges or browns). I love olive shades on their own, e.g. for business look, or I combine them with any other colour (blue, violet, eggplant, grey, champagne, …).

Try some of Bobbie Browns shadows. I know some of her older pallets and singles have a beautiful matte grey. I have several of them, however they were purchased several years ago (I can’t throw away my makeup!)

You can’t beat Make Up Geek Stealth at only 6 bucks. I adored Nars Notorious, but it’s d/c’d. Current Nars gray mattes are Namibia, Thunderball, which looks dark and blue-tinged, and Lhasa, which they describe as lavender gray. I doubt Sephora has them all; you might check a Bluemercury, if there’s one near you.

I love greys as well and really like what I find at Meow cosmetics! I have a few and they are so versatile and incredibly pigmented.

I reach for blue purple green pink (electric palette) and this one rose gold color(liar from naked 3). I love these colors and I think they’re very innovative eyeshadow colors.

I typically go for gold, but lately I have been going for a natural, peachy shade. MAC Woodwinked and All That Glitters are basically the two types of shades I reach for.

Sheer pearly white or pale pink. I just do a wash over the lid if my eyes need brightening. If I’m going for color I like blues – icy aqua on the lid or a sapphire liner. Looks amazing on brown eyes.

Taupe! There’s a reason the shade makes up the majority of my eyeshadow collection. It’s an easy-to-wear neutral, and the fact that it’s a mix of brown and grey means that it can work with both cool and warm tones.

Cool taupes and cool medium browns. No frost, no shimmer…and…horrors..no glitter! Wish I could indulge but I have senior citizen eyelids.

I love champagnes, taupes and light matte browns. For champagne eyeshadows, one of my favorites is to use a highlighter like the Laura Mercier Highlighter 01 as an eyeshadow/all over lid color. Two birds with one stone!

Earthy tones of any sort. Note I considers taupe, cream, gold, and browns of any variety earthy. Basically any colors like you’d find in the 4 UD naked palettes and other brands, mainly Mac, Chanel and Dior those same type shades though.

I love any colors that are made, but I depend heavily on nude to deeper brown colors to emphasize the rainbow. If I want to go one shade, I like the types of colors that are nude or grey with pink, blue or purple duochromes. <3

I love MAC’s Soft Brown in the crease for a quick look with some black eyeliner. It’s pulled together and polished for day or night.

I reach for golds and bronzes too! They’re so perfect on a warm skin tone, and to bring out dark eyes and hair. I’m not an eyeshadow person so I’d only ever use a wash of gold/bronze on my lids, sometimes with a contour colour in the crease, and at other times a matte mid-tone brown when I want my eyes to *really* neutral.

Lately I’ve started to step out of my comfort zone and I’ve been using greens (green, brown and gold together) and I love it! Also, rather than going with a wash of one colour I’ve discovered a wonderful method for blending three colours together. I’m definitely going to experiment more with other combinations.

Whatever is in my bag, lol! Usually I keep a blue, purple/eggplant and black pencil. Also two small Smashbox palettes and Sugarpill Bulletproof.

WildDove Avatar

In the last year, mostly matte browns. I also reach for black, charcoal, shimmering bronze, taupes, and peachy pink. Nothing glittery though.

Brenda Avatar

coppers and pinky bronze lately as they really brighten my face. Satiny greys and peach are a staple as well. I find a lot of other cooler colours really wash me out and make me look tired.
