Revlon Naughty Nude (006) Blush ($9.99 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium, rose-tinged brown with warm undertones and a golden champagne shimmer. Too Faced Peach Beach (P, $30.00) is lighter, less shimmery. Chanel Accent (84) (LE, $43.00) is darker. Kevyn Aucoin Natura (P) is browner, less shimmery. NARS Douceur (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, less warm-toned. Burberry Earthy (P, $42.00) is less shimmery, browner. See comparison swatches.

When Revlon reformulated and released their Blushes, I was excited, and the color range looked good. I’m all over a brown-based blush; they’re totally underrated, but they’re the types of blushes that I often reach for and there aren’t nearly enough options to choose from–most of them are very pricey, so I was hoping for a more budget-friendly version to recommend to readers. Unfortunately, the texture of this needs work; it’s stiff and dry yet powdery, almost chalky at times. I had to scrape off the product in order to get swatches of it to show up on my skin; using the included applicator produced no visible color on my skin. I had slightly better luck packing on the color onto my cheeks, which I owe to my skin type being normal (so there are some natural oils, which help powders stick), whereas the skin on my arm is drier. Even after some color applied, it was really difficult to blend. To add further insult, the shimmer in this does emphasize pores, so if you have larger pores or skin imperfections, this can exacerbate both! This blush lasted six and a half hours on me.

If the formula wasn’t QUITE so difficult to work with, it might be still worth considering if other brown blushes aren’t ones someone feels comfortable getting, but I just see this as something one tries to say, “I’ll make it work,” and it just goes to the bottom of the drawer.

It’s a pity that the formula is so bad, as it’s such a lovely color. It looks amazing on you, honestly! But then again, if it’s that hard to use, then buying something pricier but less frustrating to work with is probably the better option.

What’s really odd is how flat, “dry” and matte this looks in the pan and how glittery it is once applied. I can’t wear a brown blush but if I could, I would still stay away from this one. I often wonder if companies actually get in “volunteers” (ME, ME!!!!) to try out and give feedback about reformulated products. You would think that if they’re going to all the trouble and expense of this, they would “field test” it with women who like to use makeup and are reasonably knowledgeable about the subject so that they could fix things that are dreadful, like this blush, before it hits the market.

They do seem deceptively satin-like in the pan but end up more frosted! LOL, you know, whenever I really don’t like a product and find issues with texture (and usually related, color payoff), I’m like, “Did anyone actually use this?” I know someone did, they can’t just make it and no one ever touches it!

I don’t know if this is still true, but I read in a book about the cosmetic industry that it is difficult to make high quality powder products for a low cost. That is the reason why a lot of drugstore products carry poor quality powder products. The raw materials needed to product buttery shades are expensive. The book was pretty old. So, I’m not sure if that is still the case.

I wish I had better results with drugstore brands. Sometimes I love a product but too often the quality isn’t there. And it seems that – with all the sales and discounting of higher end brands – and price increases by drug store brands – we can all get much better quality at the same or even lower price.

When I saw the shade I got really excited because it looked similar to my favorite Korres Natural blush. But then I saw the C grade and my heart sank. Step it up, Revlon, step it up.

I would recommend Sleek’s Suede blush. It’s a beautiful matte, peachy-brown, nude blush. Compared with other Sleek blushes it’s almost sheer (seeing as others are so pigmented you need just the tiniest amount of product), but compared to other brands it’s still a lot more pigmented. A natural looking blush that would look great on fair to medium skin toned (not sure if it would work on darker skin tones). As a bonus, lighter gals can also use it as a contour. Never used it as a contour myself, but I love it as a blush!

I own this and have to respectfully disagree with this review. I have this color, and I LOVE it. I don’t find it chalky or difficult to use at all. I love the definition it gives me. It doesn’t emphasize my pores, and I have large pores. Warm Nude in the Maybelline Blush sticks is a brown based blush, also.
