NARS Final Cut Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Final Cut Blush
NARS Final Cut Blush ($30.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “peach coral.” It’s a warm-toned, muted medium orange with a hint of pink. The color is more complex than it seems initially, but I think this is a shade that may look pinker or more orange depending on your natural undertones, as it looks more peachy-orange in some lighting, and then coral in the next room. Fyrinnae Nordic Angel (P, $6.50) is slightly pinker. MAC Passion for Colour (LE, $20.00) is also a smidgen pinker. Chanel Presage (62) (LE, $38.00) is darker, cream. Edward Bess Secret Affair (P, $43.00) is pinker, more shimmery. NARS Gilda (P, $29.00) is darker, not as flat of a matte. MAC Early Morning (LE, $25.00) is darker. Chanel Frivole (P, $43.00) is darker. See comparison swatches. (You can see it on The Dupe List here!)
This shade is part of NARS’ Final Cut collection, which is a Nordstrom exclusive (in the states). I reviewed all of the other shades from the collection here. The texture was incredibly soft, velvety, and finely-milled. I had no problems getting true-to-pan color, and applied on my medium skin tone, it’s a soft, coral-y flush, though not a strong, intense shade. It blends beautifully and easily, so it feels like a foolproof blush that can be worn every day and applied in a hurry. It wore well for almost eight hours on before showing signs of fading along the edges.

Thank you Christine for this review, you are awesome. I am excited for this blush and collection.
No problem, Monica <3
I have seen this everywhere I so want it! Xx
Hope you can get it, Grace!
I’m still a little peeved this collection is a Nordstrom exclusive but I really like this color! It’s so soft and looks really natural on you
I’m actually surprised it’s still in stock, lol!
Ok, I’m interested lol
Uh oh 😉
Yeah lol I just hesistate because it may be too pink on me.
I was looking at some coral-orange and orangey-peach blushes but still haven’t found the right shade for me. Coral-pink is easy. MAC Coppertone is too dark, Sleek’s Pan Tao is sweet but more pink than orange and I have to be so careful not to overapply. ELF’s Candid Coral just comes up as gold shimmer on me.
Still looking a at Illamasqua’s Lover and Excite and Expose for a more orangey look, if you get that lol
I think Lover might work better, if only because it seems to run more orange on me, and Final Cut definitely retains some of its pink tone – not a lot of it but some. I feel like Exposed might be too dark given what you’re after.
Thanks, Christine!
Becca Mineral Blush in Damselfly and Songbird are great options if you’re looking for orange-toned blushes. 🙂
This is so pretty! I had been thinking about picking up Chanel’s Frivole for quite some time now. With Final Cut being lighter and cheaper, it might work out better for me.
Ooh, sounds like you might need to check it out then!
I really like this, but wonder about the pigmentation on my medium dark/tan skin tone.
I think the color might just be too light. Not so much pigmentation, but the color itself is light.
Oooh what a flattering color, I like it a lot!
Happy to hear it!
Beautiful! I have this and was going to return it. Now I think I might keep it. Do you feel that any of the items in this collection are “must haves?” I remember from earlier reviews that you said two of the lip pencils were super similar and the light pink was not so great. But of the other items…?
I think if you’re really fair, the blushes are nice. If you aren’t, they’re fairly easy to skip!
Thanks!
This is such a perfect everyday blush! <3
I could see it working well as an everyday shade!
How do you think this would compare to MAC Melba? Thanks for the lovely review as always! 🙂
Melba is a bit darker and leans brown-ish! They’re not too far apart! http://www.temptalia.com/mac-tartan-tale-a-triumphant-blush-face-kit-review-photos-swatches
After I return a Mac lipstick at Nordstrom this am, I will definitely be picking up this beautiful Nars blush. Thanks for the review Christine.
No problem, Lily!
I really love this on you Christine, but unfortunately it wouldn’t work for my skin tone.
Thanks, Melinda! I think it’s a wee light on me.
I love this shade, I don’t think I can make it work on me but I’ll swatch it when I’m at a NARS counter next for sure.
Sounds like a good way to make sure 🙂
Hi Christine,
I finally became a registered member because I really wanted to know how you think this blush compares (if at all) to MAC’s Coppertone blush.
I bought Final Cut yesterday, but wasn’t able to swatch it because they didn’t have a tester (although they did for everything else in the collection. Go figure. Lol.)
Thank you!
Welcome, Cyra! Officially, at least 🙂
Coppertone is darker and browner!

It looks great on you! Really natural
Thanks, Charli! 🙂
Hi Christine,
Why do you say that Gilda is more shimmery? I have it and it’s matte with no shimmer at all.
Gilda has a very slight sheen to it compared to this one, which is very, very matte! Does that help?
So pretty.
It is!
A very pretty everyday shade! looks lovely on u christine!:-)
Thanks so much! 🙂
Sooooo pretty! I love a peachy/coral blush, and sheer is better for me (I’m pale and strong blush makes me look like an easter egg).
This would be great for you then, Klee! This collection is really ideal for super fair skin tones when it comes to the new blushes!
Is this comparable to Illamasqua Lover? From the photos above, they kind of look the same in the pan.
Lover looks more orange on me!
I’ve been wondering about picking up a blush in the more ‘peach/orange’ line, just because all the (three, LOL) blushes I have are pink. However, I still think I might have to save my pennies for one of those new Clinique ones!
This blush looks very delicate on you, Christine 🙂
I vote Clinique :O
I was excited about this one but when I finally got to see it in person, was smaller than I thought. :/ Although it is gorgeous I couldn’t see myself shelling out $30 for something so small. Ah well
This blush size is pretty average, I would say!
Ah okay. I’m not used to it being do compacted (to me) then….might cave in now if there’s any left. xD
No worries! Bronzers are usually massive, but blushes are usually somewhere between 0.15 and 0.20 oz. Sometimes larger, sometimes smaller.
Love this! This is something that I am dying to get!
Awesome! I hope you can get it, Danielle!
How gorgeous! I absolutely LOVE this, I can see it being a great everyday blush for me
It would be lovely on you, Catherine!
Oh wow, that’s a pretty one! I think this is what I had hoped “Sex Appeal” would be…might have to buy this!
Yay!
How does this compare to MAC supercontinental?
This is lighter and less red/coral.
Lovely? Would this color work for NC25-NC30 skin? Or would it be too light…
*Oops typo, that should be lovely with a “!” not a “?”
I’m NC25/NC30, and it’s fairly subtle on me. If that’s the kind of look you’re going for, it could work. If you want something you can go lighter/darker, it might be too subtle!
Pretty color! How does it compare to NARS’ Gina?
Gina is darker!
this looks really pretty. i usually only go for subtle blush and this looks like it would be perfect!
Oh, this sounds right up your alley, Beka! 🙂
I’m tempted to use this as an eyeshadow. The color would work well with some browns I own. Yes, I actually do use blushes for my inner and outer lids a lot, especially when the pinkish and neutral eyeshadows are out of stock!
…You know what? I think I could use this color for the Smitten Chromalust look you did.
I could definitely seeing it working! It might be a lil’ lighter.
I think this will be my second choice if I can’t find my perfect or slightly-less-than-perfect eyeshadow palette. The problem is, will I be able to hit pan with this? 😉
Is this close to Espiegle? I only save that for special occasions but I love it so a (relatively) cheaper similar blush would be nice 🙂
Espiegle is darker and more shimmery 🙂
So so so pretty! My favorite blush colors are pinky corals and dark pinks!
I love a pink-coral!
Hello! Is this very similar to NARS Daydream- also a pinkish peach?
Daydream is pinker!
Oh my god… Now I want this so bad. Is this super similar to Gilda or Gina?
Closer to Gilda, but Gilda is darker and not as matte.
Christine, forgive me for making this comment but I can’t help to wonder what happened lately to your eyebrows? They look so overdrawn, too dark and out of proportion with your eyes. I’m sorry to make this remark but they look very unnatural.
Sorry you feel that way, Carmen! I love my eyebrows, but thanks for your feedback!
