Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)
Bobbi Brown Pink Gold Shimmer (7) Lip Color
These are the last three shades of Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Colors ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) that I have to review. (See part one here.) The formula is supposed to be a “soft, buttery feel” and be hydrating. The press release also mentioned that it would leave a “thin veil of light-reflecting color that lasts for hours without feathering or drying.” These definitely have more than a mere “thin veil” of color–they’re closer to semi-opaque. Pink Gold Shimmer was the sheerest, but it wasn’t that sheer. The sparkle is fine, lovely and dazzling when it catches the light, and multi-dimensional. These have a slick, emollient texture that enables them to glide on easily but they tend to wear away a bit faster than the average lipstick, though they are lightly moisturizing. I didn’t notice any scent or taste.
Pink Gold Shimmer (7) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pale peachy pink.” It’s a pink-tinged peach with gold shimmer, but applied, it looks like a light-medium warm-toned pink with gold shimmer. The color coverage was semi-sheer. It wore well for two and a half hours. Too Faced Taffy (P, $21.00) is lighter, less shimmery. Revlon Pink Lemonade (P, $7.49) is also lighter, less shimmery. NARS Mitzi (P, $26.00) is darker. MAC Supreme Style (LE, $17.00) is less glossy. Guerlain Rose Desir (LE, $49.50) is pinker. Chanel Gardenia (P, $34.00) is less glossy, darker. See comparison swatches.
Calypso Shimmer (10) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “bright peach coral.” It’s a medium, slightly muted, orange with gold shimmer. This shade applied with semi-opaque color coverage with some translucency where the natural lip color will come through. The texture of this one was on the thicker side, and as a result, you could see “lines” appear if you pressed your lips together. It wore well for three hours. Tom Ford Beauty Sweet Spot (05) (LE, $49.00) is less shimmery, brighter. MAC Dreaming Dahlia (LE, $16.00) is brighter, less shimmery. Chanel Etonnante (131) (P, $34.00) is darker, redder. Chanel Mystique (57) (P, $34.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Interlude (P, $34.00) is less glossy, pinker. Chanel Pimpante (P, $34.00) Burberry Heather Rose (P, $30.00) is darker. Benefit Saucy (P, $18.00) is a smidgen darker. See comparison swatches.
Ballerina Shimmer (12) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone pink.” It’s a medium, subtly cool-toned pink with gold shimmer. It was semi-opaque color coverage, so some of the natural lip color came through (so it will alter the way it looks, if you have more natural pigmentation in your lips). It wore well for three and a half hours. MAC Love Beam (LE, $20.00) is darker. MAC Morning Rose (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Tarte Pink Peony (P, $16.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Have We Met? (108) (P, $30.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

I’m not a big shimmery lipstick fan, but Ballerina Shimmer is pretty.
It is!
Is there anything that doesn’t look good on you? 🙂
Pfft!
I love the color 🙂
Which one is your favorite?
2 to 3.5 hours, eh? Hmm, might have to order some samples and experiment with SPF lip balm. *Maybe* I can make it stay on a little longer. I really like the shimmer on you!
Let me know if you end up giving these a try, Michelle!
Yep, will do! 😉
These look nice! I might have to try the cool toned one!
The range seems like it should have a good range of undertones!
The colors are pretty but they seem rather sheer on the lips. I feel they’ll be more flattering on people with paler skin.
They are supposed to be sheer, actually!
I love the look of all three of those shades. But I guess they really are lip balms if you only get a couple of hours wear. Too bad they don’t last longer, since that’s what the brand promises.
Yeah, if you don’t like to reapply your lip color, then these won’t be for you!
I think the golden shimmer is stunning when you look at the lipsticks in the tube, but doesn’t quite translate on the lips. I find the result a little disappointing!
It’s more apparent in real life, as tends to be the case with a lot of sparkle/glitter 🙂
As a dancer and lover of pink lipsticks, I *really* want Ballerina Shimmer 🙂
These all look super fresh and pretty on you Christine!
Thank you!! 🙂
While I love bold lipsticks, these are so soft and pretty! I’m glad they’re all permanent.
Me too!
I loved these lipsticks and they really look natural and beautiful. I just do not understand the concept of making a sheer lipstick. I am really wanting to buy the lipsticks from their permanent range though. Any suggestions (any of the best colors) for medium skin tones?
Hi Neeraj!
Here are all swatches of BB permanent lipsticks I have – http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery?brand=12840&type=12690&availability=Permanent
I like Pink Peony and Nude Rose a lot!
I love how Calypso Shimmer looks on you 🙂
Thanks so much, Rhea!
Ballerina is cute, but overall these don’t impress me.
What is it that just doesn’t work for you?
I really like Ballerina Shimmer, but I don’t love the price point. I’ll probably wait for a sale and let myself get tempted then
I believe BB does have a F&F sale, so there’s that!
Loving Ballerina Shimmer! Another product added to my quickly growing, and already huge list of purchases for spring. I’m not having much restraint this year LOL 🙂
LOL!
these are so beautiful! is calypso under a different name on sephora or is it not on there? seriously all of these have been on my wish list for months and i debate heavily every time i order whether or not to buy haha
It might not be there… no idea why it wouldn’t be, though!
