MAC Sweet as Cocoa Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Sweet as Cocoa Blush
MAC Sweet as Cocoa Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “brown with pearl [with a Sheertone Shimmer finish].” It’s a warm-toned, medium-dark brown with very fine copper and bronze shimmer. It had a satiny finish–just a little luminosity and sheen. Chanel Accent (84) (LE, $43.00) is lighter, rosy. MAC Exotic Ember (LE, $25.00) is darker, browner. MAC Stylish Me (LE, $21.00) is slightly warmer and less brown. Bobbi Brown Bahama (LE, $38.00) is rosier, lighter. See comparison swatches.
Sweet as Cocoa is part of MAC’s permanent range, which means it can also be purchased in pan-form for $17, and there’s no mad dash to grab it! It had good color payoff that was mostly buildable from medium coverage to full coverage. On my medium complexion (with a light application), it adds warmth, luminosity, and a subtle reddish-brown color. This could work well as an every day color for medium and deeper complexions. The subtle shimmer yields a lovely glow when buffed and blended into the skin, and it doesn’t emphasize pores at all. It wore well for eight hours before starting to fade. The only downside is that the texture is a little on the drier side; it could be softer and more finely-milled.

Wow this is going on my MAC wishlist! Love it!
Yay!!
This is a lovely blush for WOC, dark to ebony complexions. I love it.
Happy to hear it, CCA! I was thinking it would be when I was testing it!
That looks lovely on your skintone. I love brown blushes or beiges blushes on fair skin
Thank you, Judith!
So this isn’t a good blush for fair skin? (NW15ish)
Anyone can wear it – just that it’s particularly lovely on darker complexions as an everyday kind of blush 🙂
Wow Christine, you always look good in your pictures, but lately you’ve been looking absolutely stunning dear! Your complexion looks flawless 🙂
Thanks a lot, Naomi! 🙂 This photo is actually a few months old, lol!
I bought this a couple months ago and it’s my go-to neutral blush! I really like it.
That’s so awesome, Amber! I can see this being lovely on you!

This is my all time favorite blush. 🙂
YAY!
Might be a bit OOT on me but it’s still tempting… Might swatch it at the store to see.
With a light hand, I think you’ll be fine! 😀
I could really see myself loving this blush.
It’s really lovely, Liz!
This is one of my neutral blushes (I’m MUFE 177/NC 50). Like Christine said , it has a slight shimmer. Good all year round blush for WOC.
PS – I like Stylish Me even better. Unfortunately it is LE.
So glad to hear that this works well on your skin tone, Erica! It just seemed like a perfect shade for deeper complexions, so it is great to get confirmation – now I can recommend it with confidence 😀
Wow – this looks like a really beautiful blush. You’ve definitely made me want to go buy it…!
Great read 🙂
Drop Dead Gorgeous on you 🙂
one of my alllll time fav n looks fab on NC 40 skin tone 🙂
Does it compare to Eternal Sun by MAC?
Eternal Sun is lighter and less shimmery! http://www.temptalia.com/product/mac-cosmetics-pro-longwear-blush/eternal-sun
I love Sweet as Cocoa!!! Its one of my all-time faves and I haven’t even had it that long. It gives me a nice flush without it looking dirty on my skin. I hope they never retire this shade. It looks great on you Christine!!!
I am an NW47 skin tone, and this is definitely an everyday shade!!
I love it! I’ve been looking for a great everyday blush for deeper complexions. Well, off to the Mac counter. Thanks Christine.
I love this. This is definetly a holy grail blush for women of color
I love this blush! I’ve a medium/medium light warm complexion and, with a light hand, it actually looks rosy on my cheeks. It gives a healthy and natural look. I can also apply it with a heavier hand sort of below the cheekbone for a different look and it’s amazing.
