5 Shades of Bright, Metallic Silver

As someone with a warmer complexion, I always go gold during the holidays, but I would be remiss if I didn’t consider the opposite–silver–which can work well to brighten and reflect just as nicely as gold!

  1. Le Metier de Beaute Platinum — a bright, metallic silver
  2. NARS Interstellar — a frosted, metallic silver cream
  3. Urban Decay Cuff — a brightened silver eyeliner–perfect for brightening up a smoky eye
  4. Inglot #447 — an extremely bright silver with a highly metallic finish in powder form
  5. Zoya Electra — silver tinsel with a holographic finish to make any nail color festive

What’s your favorite silver-hued beauty product?

Silver is a shade I tend to avoid – I find it a bit too garish and over the top on me. I think the only silver shadows I have came in pre-made palettes and the ones that spring to mind is Ooh & Aah from TF’s Enchanted Glamourland and In a Flash from the Smokey Eye palette . I never use it. I probably have some more taupe-toned, lilac or even green toned shadows with a silver leaning (the lighter side of Nars Habanera and Nouveau Monde) but I never go for out and out silver.

Now, THIS is one I can really get into! 🙂
While gold can be problematic for me, because of its tendency to look yellowish, silver looks wonderful on my NW15 skin. The silver product I use most often is UD’s “Vapor” eyeshadow, which I use as an inner corner/browbone highlight. It works beautifully with greys, taupes, and plums.
On lips, I love MAC “She-Zam!” Dazzleglass, over deep red/burgundy lipstick. I even sometimes add a drop of a very finely-milled silver mica powder to my gloss, for some extra silver shimmer.

As someone with cooler overall coloring, I prefer silver, which means I have quite a few. Some of my favorites are UD Shellshock (eyes), Sinful Colors Out of This World (nails), and NARS Copacabana Multiple (highlighter).

Eyes: Sugar Pill Tiara. Nothing else comes even close to being as metallic or lasting as well. It *can* overpower almost any other colour you pair it with, however, so make sure the space hooker aesthetic is what you’re going for. [For me, almost every day. Life is too short to not look awesome while waiting for FTL travel to get here.]

Nails: Sally Hansen Celeb City. a-England’s [reformulated] Excalibur for a slightly gold-toned silver. The old Excalibur is good for a frosted silver.
