What beauty brand is always worth the splurge?

What beauty brand is always worth the splurge? Share!

There are a few! Guerlain, Burberry, Le Metier de Beaute… I like a lot of Tom Ford’s products, but I have run into some not-so-great ones, too. I know I’m forgetting some!

For me it would be Chanel, all the products I have from the brand are stellar, otherwise Ysl has great products, Guerlain and commonly also Dior. If I had to only pick one brand that would be Chanel, simply because it has never disappointed me and I love their products.

Guerlain, Chanel, and Armani are probably my top three, although I adore Burberry, Rouge Bunny Rouge, and some Japanese luxury brands as well.

Alison Avatar

Suqqu! Three! Now you’re speaking my language. I feel exactly the same way about Japanese cosmetics. Swoon!

(Speaking of which, have you tried any of the Suqqu foundations, Ryou? What did you think of them – if you don’t mind my asking?)

Illamasqua is the only high end beauty brand I’ll consistently buy from. I know they’re spot on pretty much every time, so I have no qualms spending the money. I’m hesitant to buy anything higher cost than that simply because I don’t have enough experience to know if I can take the risk on a brand.

Liz Avatar

Have to agree with Burberry! And I went ahead with your curated Le Metier set, since you think the fig shadow would work as a liner. I’m so looking forward to it!

I’ve had disappointments with every brand I’ve tried and with the higher end brands, the disappointments may be fewer but they’re also more costly! Still, I’d say it’s probably Guerlain or Hourglass. I don’t have access to (nor do I choose to pay the price of) Le Metier de Beaute. I wish Burberry, Tom Ford and Armani were more readily available to me (or maybe not….)

I don’t think there is a brand that is ALWAYS worth the splurge, I’ve had a few average products from all brands. I have had great luck with Burberry, though, every single product I have from them I would rate above average, their eyeshadows and blushes in particular. I don’t think their lipsticks are that great, but that might just be personal preference. Le Metier de Beaute is also really good (at least from what I’ve tried). Rouge Bunny Rouge is another AMAZING brand. Highly pigmented, great textures and long-lasting.

Aida Avatar

Burberry. It’s the only high end brand that never disappoints me. As a result, I’ve never had to return any Burberry purchase (and I bought plenty).

I agree. While there have been a couple of NARS products that haven’t appealed to me, I just didn’t buy them. However, everything I have decided to buy, I absolutely love.

Cannot really say one brand…because it doesnt always have everything that I like….I would say…Urban Decay for the glorious eyeshadows, Dolce N Gabanna for the lipsticks, Suquu for its decadence, Guerlain for its unique packaging and innovation, MAC for its marketing strategies to get people hooked, Tom Ford for its blushes and brushes,

Emma Avatar

Christine, what Burberry blushes would you highly recommend to me?Like must-haves? I’m asian, NC25, with combination to oily skin. I’m trying to expand my blush collection towards high-end stuff. Also, would you say Guerlain Meteorites make a significant improvement to makeup?

Laurel Avatar

I’m going to say Benefit because I think their products are so over priced that they are basically a “splurge.” Their products always work for me and many of their products are HG for me (Erase Paste, Porefessional, Sugarbomb and Coralista, Some Kind-a Gorgeous, their oxygen foundation, and millions more!)

I agree with Lydia and would add YSL. All of their lip products are fabulous. I only have a few Givenchy lipsticks, but the ones I have are insanely pigmented.

Burberry is also very good but I recently bought an eye palette (No.7 Pink Taupe) and for the first time I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the quality..

Guerlain and Dior. I haven’t tried Chanel, Armani, and some of the other higher end brands because they’re not easily available where I live and I hate to order online. Everything I’ve bought from Guerlain I l have loved (foundations, bronzers, kohl liners) and Dior(foundations, lippies, eyeshadows, and mascaras.) Oh and NARS for their blushes and shadows. I don’t like Nars bronzers, I think they’re muddy and sparkly, so I guess that brand isn’t ALWAYS worth the splurge, but just for those specific products.

Alison Avatar

I’m with you on this one, Christine! Burberry, Le Metier and Guerlain are always worth the splurge and my three favourite brands. If I had to name a fourth, I’d say Hourglass. <3

Armani and Burberry seem to consistently have good products. Tom Ford is definitely overpriced for the quality (especially the lipsticks – vibrant colors but they make my lips peel). Honestly, I enjoy using most high end brand products that I’ve purchased so far, because like most other girls I read a lot of reviews beforehand – for me the biggest issue is really whether the color/texture complements my skin.

xamyx Avatar

NARS has always been consistent for me, as far as the products I would purchase. I have to admit, there are several items I’ve never even looked twice at, so I can’t attest to quality. However, those are products I just didn’t care for in terms of color.

StillPretty Avatar

I have to say Urban Decay’s eye liners and shadows are a must for me…I love them more than any other brand and “Whiskey” is the best neutral eye liner I’ve ever owned. Also Smashbox, NARS and Dior have rarely let me down as well.

Liz Avatar

It’s hard for me to answer because as mentioned, most brands have hits and misses. I haven’t tried too many of the luxury brands. I have a few Chanel products. They are nice, but they are not really worth the price in my opinion. One of the most consistent brands for me has been Make Up For Ever. I’ve been pretty happy with most of their products. I’ve also been happy with most of the Bobbi Brown products I’ve tried. However, I tend to shop from Bobbi’s permanent line. It seems that a lot of the LE items have been getting poor reviews. Lastly although I don’t have a lot of Smashbox products, I like everything that I have from them.

Lauren Avatar

Dior, Deborah Lippmann Nail Polishes, NARS, Clinique for skin care, and Giorgio Armani for perfume. Never tried any of the others for beauty products since I’m just starting on my beauty journey last year – at 30 years old.

Terri Avatar

Guerlain and Hourglass absolutely. I only have 1 thing from LMDB; a poppy colored creme blush that is so gorgeous I couldn’t believe it. It makes me want more. I also have enjoyed all the RBR I have except for an eye liner that was not true to web site color, but what can you do? They offered to take it back for me but I decided it was not worth the hassle. You never know when it will come in handy and I have NO problem having too much makeup.
But Guerlain…..beautifully performing products in beautiful packages. They feel like a splurge every time you use them!!!
