That’s… really not a helpful promo ad. It’s a cool shot, but does nothing to showcase the product! The shadows look really gritty, anyway…
Agreed! My first thought was, “That tells me nothing about how the products will look.”
If that purple has gold sparkles like it look in the pic, I am all over it!

The photo seem to have been taken as a long exposure to have this “wavy” effect and making it hard to retouch. It looks a bit of when I try to photograph my own looks with my camera !
It looks like the photo was taken at long exposure and the glitter in the eyeshadow caught the light.
Given MAC’s recent track record, I’ll believe it when I see it.
They look awesome but I feel like this is going to be one of those MAC products that suck.. Will definitely wait for a review!
This doesn’t do much for me. I know it’s a palette, but it doesn’t seem worth the price.

That promo image looks stunning, but now that I see that they’re palettes, I’m a little wary. At first I thought they might be duochromes, but I see I’m mistaken.
Definitely of two minds about this. It says “applied wet for a super saturation of colour that glistens with metallic brilliance, or dry for sheer coverage with a soft, sparkling finish” – I like the idea, but at the same time, I like my shadows more pigmented from the get-go. Still, its versatility (supposedly in the wet vs. dry finishes) is the highest selling point for me . . .
Looks like I’ll just have to wait and see what reviews and demos say!

Neat promo image of the eye but these don’t look as AMAZING! as MAC might want us to believe.
I’m sensing a complete Mac horror show with this collection.
I nearly typed the EXACT words Catherine typed….they DO look absolutely gorgeous but I’ll wait to see what the quality is like before buying! But if they’re good, lord help me because I see at least 3 that I really, REALLY love.
I can’t get past that packaging! The rows are way too narrow and I can see it maybe being difficult to get product out with a brush without overlapping to other pans. Unless there’s space in between and the rows are wider (think like Naked palette), this kind of packaging makes me cringe….and I already blew most of my $$ on temperature rising and all about orange so it all works out lol
I am a die hard MAC addict and it looks like I already have the colours just you can apply these wet… big deal haha plus MAC has been iffy on there eye shadows lately.

The finish description pretty much says you have to apply wet in order to get the full color, otherwise it’s a ‘sheer, soft sparkling finish’.
I usually love the veluxe pearl finish, hopefully it won’t be as sheer as I imagine it to be. Otherwise it’ll be an easy pass.

Which one would be best for brown eyes? I want to get one for my daughter (brown eyes) and mine are blue so I have no idea. Thanks

MAC has aweful adverisments sometimes…..blurry images supposed to be catchy??
Maybe its me but it kind of remind me of Milani e/s palette. The colors can be duped. Sorry Mac- again I am going to have to pass on this one.
$40 wow that’s pricey
Would MAC really miss out on anything if they did have the number of collections each year and ensured that each was fab and somewhat unique? Or even 1/3? When they are hot, they are sizzling. When they are cold, the products are just so-so. Some of these shadows look like they has potential but . . . some shots are glittery, some look like they have a denim matte finish. Other than the size of the strips, I’m not sure what ties this collection together as a collection.

Some oI’m quite surprised to read that of all the “faults” with these, noone has commented about there being no matte shades.
So basically, this is a maybe-duochrome, wet to dry collection. The one trouble with this is that when the product dries, there is considerable fallout (unless the product incorporates a suitable binder). The blue on the model’s eye looks pretty (blue shimmer in a purple base?), but that probably has more to do with the skill of the photographer than the quality of product. So, fingers crossed as far as this collection is concerned.
Interesting as always, but I will absolutely wait for reviews!!
Dear MAC: If the purpose of your photo is to entice me to buy your new eyeshadow, the most effective thing you can do is show me what the eyeshadow actually looks like. This photo just makes me think they’re trying to hide something.

That promo shot would be a lot more convincing if it wasn’t so obviously Photoshopped. If the colors were really as spectacular as the ad copy suggests, they wouldn’t need to blur it and cover it with all of those electric blue zigzags
The only one I’m remotely interested in is the brown one, but the swatches will be the decision maker for me.

I think what people don’t understand is that MAC’s promo images are often conceptual/abstract. The main promo image is what sits on the physical displayer above the products, so they are mainly concerned with it complementing the feel of the collection well and looking good on a physical displayer unit. Anyway I have played with these palettes and I personally am a huge fan. OBVIOUSLY they are all shimmer, so if you don’t like shimmer you will probably not like these. Most of them do actually have a pretty decent color payoff. There are different textures within each palette so you get some that have larger glitter flecks (similar to MAC’s lustre formula eyeshadows) and some that have more of a fine shimmer/frost finish (similar to the classic veluxe pearl formula) my favorites are Bleuluxe and Pastelluxe (that’s going to be amazing for layering on top of black/different colored eye kohls for a duochrome effect)

I bought the Pastelluxe palet in Schiphol last month – SO disappointing!!!
Having heard so many of my friends absolutely rave about their cosmetics, I always wondered whether I was missing out (I am a loyal Dior girl myself!)
Having tried this and also one of their lipglosses, I feel like I’ve been robbed of £50!
The shadow has absolutely no staying power, no pigmentation, so barely visible on the eye and also crumbles all over the place – my face ends up taking more of it than my eye lid!
Anyways… I’ve been reading lots of negative reviews about this range online and e-mailed MAC this morning, asking if they would take it back… I would give it to one of my friends’ little girl to play dress up with, but having paid more than £30 for it… I wouldn’t mind getting some sort of money back!
