How to Use Eyelash Primer - Tips & Tricks

Makeup & Beauty Tips on How to Use Eyelash Primer

Share your best tips and tricks on using eyelash primer!  Feel free to share your experiences, how you mastered techniques, or what you struggle with.

Temptalia’s Tips

  1. Roll the primer brush across lashes and focus on separation of lashes so it doesn’t look or become clumpy.
  2. Use a lash comb to help separate lashes and even out the coverage of lashes in the primer.
  3. Let it set for a few seconds before applying mascara (but not too long).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Don’t get too greedy. If you pile first the primer on and then mascara, chances are your lashes won’t look too good. And yes I’m speaking from personal experience 😉

I wiggle Lancome Cils lash primer at the base and go as evenly as I can to the ends. Then, I wait a few seconds to apply mascara. I also find it is better (for me) to do one eye at a time.

Eyelash primer is great when you want to add extra va to your va va voom mascara. The right primer will enhance the effect of the original mascara (i.e. lengthening goes longer, thickening gets fuller, etc.) But don’t put too much! You’ll have spidery clumps that will turn your eye look into raccoon eyes guaranteed. Put on the primer like your normal mascara. Give it about 30 seconds to dry. Then run your lash comb through to take out the excess.
