5 Faves: Matte Lipsticks for Fall 2015

For the last few weeks, the picks have revolved around eyeshadows, so it seemed like a good time to change gears and feature some of my favorites for fall! To start, here are my personal picks for a matte lip this season!

  1. NARS Train Bleu — a deep purple
  2. Kat Von D Double Dare — a matte dusty coral
  3. Kat Von D Chula — a copper-red
  4. ColourPop Trap — a muted, lavender mauve
  5. MAC Stone — a taupe brown

Double Dare and Stone are on my list to get! Unfortunately Train Bleu was super patchy on me that I had to return it, which is weird because the other Matte Lip Pencil I have in Walkyrie is perfect.

Little dry, it kept emphasizing my lines and moving the product around my lips creating the patchiness. I might try again though.
And I did exfoliate my lips. So weird… the color is so pretty.

Going by my dark tastes, you *know* how I must love Nars Train Bleu!!! The only reason I haven’t ever bought it is because of it being in a pencil format, so I would be super perturbed at losing any while sharpening it.
And MAC Stone is still on my list of “to gets”!
My personal picks are MAC VG I & III, Maybelline Touch Of Spice, MAC La Vie En Rouge, and UD After Dark.

Nice idea with the swamp of eye shadow palettes amongst us! I can proudly say I have all but Trap and Train Bleu. Train Bleu is going to be necessary. But, Trap, I will pass due to the formula not agreeing with my lips. Dupes are god things. 🙂

These are gorgeous shades. Trap doesn’t work at all on me, but I know it does for a lot of people. It’s really gray on me and makes my lips look like raisins. I’m going to try some glosses and lipsticks over it. I know that will take away the matteness and staying power, but at least I might be to wear it. I swatched Nyx Opal over it and it looked really pretty. I just have to get up the courage to try it on my lips (Trap really dries them out).

I really prefer creams over mattes, as a general rule. This fall for mattes I’m liking the 90s ColourPop matte Lippie Stix (all of them), Jeffree Star I’m Royalty and Weirdo, Jordana Modern Matte in Matte Caliente, Wet n Wild Megalast (especially in Sugar Plum Fairy, Ravin’ Raisin, and Vamp It Up), and e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color (especially in Cranberry, Wine, and Rich Red).

Trap is gorgeous and I wish my lips took to pink lipstick better. Train Bleu is definitely a shade I need to get myself to the store and buy, though. I’ve been fussing over wanting it for years.

My favorite matte lipstick is actually drug store – Revlon’s Really Red is a classic for a reason.

I think mattes and I just aren’t meant to be 🙁
I need something creamy and/or glossy on my lips. These shades are lovely though!
