5 Holiday Red Lipglosses to Try

5 Holiday Red Lipglosses to Try

I can’t decide if I love red gloss or lipstick more.  I just love the juicy glossiness of a gloss, which is why I don’t often wear a matte lip by choice.  Do you have a preference?

What’s your favorite red lipgloss to wear during the holidays?

When I want to do red lips, I’m more likely to go for a lipstick than a gloss; red glosses tend to “read” pink on me.
My favorite red of the moment is Ellis Faas L101 “Ellis Red,” a liquid lipstick formula.
I’m not crazy about the formula, which tends to be messy, but I’m madly in love with the color!

I really love the Rimmel Vinyl Max gloss in Passion, a nice deep red. The brush is impractically large, but once you get the hang of it, it isn’t that bad. It has a nice vanilla mint smell, and it’s full-coverage and pretty long lasting for a gloss. I rarely have major problems with Rimmel lip products.

I have very cool-toned skin. Do you have any suggestions for glosses that would compliment it? I especially love Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer glosses 🙂

I haven’t tried many “colored” glosses, but I really love L’Oreal Infallible in Rebel Red.

If I wear a gloss alone, I prefer a pale shade, so if I want color, I just apply a clear gloss over a lipstick. This way, it’s *alot* cheaper, and I don’t end up with a box filled with gloss I rarely wear, since it can go bad sooner than lipstick.

I really like red lip glosses, I think it’s such a nice way to do red lips. They can give bold color, but they still look healthy and youthful. There’s no lip-shrinking effect that matte red can have. I think the Illamasqua looks particularly stunning.

Chanel Extrait De Gloss’s Exces is also great!! Top it up over any matte or creamy red, and you will get the TRUE red tint that is just PERFECT for your skin tone. ANY skintone, and I am a Mac NC45… with yellow undertone to boot too!!!

Christine I have a question – I never get red lip gloss to look anything other than sloppy on me. I tried Chanel’s extrait de gloss the other day and the pigment seems to go straight into the creases of my lips and gloss seems sheer everywhere else. What am I doing wrong? Is red lip gloss only worn over lipstick?
