5 Gorgeous Plum Eyeshadows

How do you like to wear plum eyeshadow? I love it paired with golds, coppers, and browns, which isn’t particularly unique, but it seems to be a combination that resonates with me.

  3. Makeup Geek Last Dance
  4. MAC Heritage Rouge
  5. MAC Blackberry

Plum shadow is something I’m wary of because I really don’t want to look like I’ve got some sort of eye infection/skin condition so I have to be REALLY careful. The only plum shadows (red plum rather than blue/purple type plums) I have are those that came in premade palettes and I don’t use them much, with the exception of Nars Subra. Maybe because it’s dual intensity and when I apply it dry, it’s not too intense, it works for me. But looking at these, Christine, I absolutely love the look of the Anastasia one – such a lovely colour that now has me wanting to try looks with this type of plum.

I sure do – in the Vice 3 palette there is Bondage and I’m sure I’ve got them in other palettes too (though I can’t remember since it’s not a shade I go to at all). But Bondage and Subra are probably good starting places. I have a few others too but those are probably the nicest.

I really like the Trish McEvoy Glaze eyeshadows, although there isn’t a huge selection. I made a quad with Orchid, Rose Quartz, Sugar Plum, and the Deep Aubergine Eye Definer. I also love the Smashbox x Nikki Hilton (London) trio. So, sometimes I wear plums with shades they blend well with/compliment. Other times I like plums mixed with contrasting shades, like gold. Ironically, today I’m wearing the NARS x Steven Klein quad (Dead of Summer) and using the gold on the center of my lid to bring out the green in my eyes. I think the only real contrasting shade fail I’ve had is with a Lancome palette where it mixed a plummy-purple with a forest green and IMO the result just looked muddy.

Trish McEvoy makes the hands-down BEST gel eyeliners out there…but again, very limited color selection. Her Even Skin foundation is superb if you like a natural finish. I’m a bigger fan of her skincare; tops are her Vitamin C Cream and her Retinol Eye Cream. If you PM me or email me, I can hook you up with the Online Advisor for her line from Neiman Marcus (he can set you up with someone local or get some items sent to you).

The MUFE range has some great plums. If you like purples at all you need Pink Ash and Eggplant. Morello Cherry and Slate Pink are nice too. MAC Blackberry and Deep Damson are good ones. I like to wear plums with teal, olive, ochre, and gunmetal.

Plum eyeshadows + green/hazel eyes = ME-WOW!!! (Pookie said it as I typed in the =, so yeah, the cat said it! LoL)
But seriously, though, I love plum eyeshadows, and own plenty. They really play up my eyecolor and make them look brighter green. Your picks are all perfect for that effect! And , I still have my eye on MAC Blackberry ?

I used to stay away from reddish brown or reddish plum shadows like the plague as they made me look tired, but I find that if it’s shimmery and added as a pop of color, along with more brightening colors (golds and true browns), it can look very pretty. My fave is City Color Cosmetics in It’s a Girl. BTW, the City Color Cosmetics Shimmer Shadows ( I have 3 of the singles) have blown me away! IMHO, they are right up there with MUFE Artist, UD, and Kat Von D Metal Crush, and only $7 each .
