5 Beautiful Blue Eyeshadows for Spring
Don’t be afraid of rocking blue eyeshadow! There are so many variations on blue, whether they lean green or purple, bright or muted, light or dark that can be worn. Here are five of my picks for spring:
- Sugarpill Mochi — a cool-toned, aqua blue with a matte finish
- Urban Decay Peace — brightened, vibrant medium blue
- Inglot #415 — a gold-shimmered, medium blue with a frost finish
- Illamasqua Sadist — a deep, dark, purple-blue with a matte finish
- L’Oreal Timeless Blue Spark — a medium, muted blue with a metallic finish
I love wearing blues on my eyes! When I do wear them, it’s usually as smokey eyes, keeping it simple so it doesn’t look too overdone. I will either just blend out the blue past the crease, or use a light brown shade to blend, black or navy liner for the waterline/tight-line, pink cheeks and pink lips.
My picks (random order):
1) Chanel illusion d’ombre Apparition
2) Burberry sheer e/s Midnight Blue
3) L’Oreal infallible Midnight Blue & Infinite Sky (I wear them together)
4) Chanel stylo eyeshadow Blue Bay
5) Dior quad Blue de Paris
6) bareMinerals Climax (from The Grande Finale READY duo)
7) MAC Showgirl (Marilyn Monroe collection)
I love Infinite Sky, too! Such a pretty shade.
Hmm I do various things with blue eyeshadows.
Sometimes, I decide to apply it simply on the bottom lash line.
Others, I do a simple, faint wash on the lid.
If I want to go all out, I usually use a white eyeshadow 🙂
What blue eyeshadow do you like best for doing a wash?
Mochi is my #1 favourite eyeshadow of all time!
Wow! 😀
My go-to look last Summer was Maybelline Color Tattoos in Seashore Frosts on the lid, and Tough As Taupe through the crease. Simple, polished, and held up through heat & humidity. I’m not normally a fan of pastel blue eyeshadow, but SF has such a pretty duochrome, and really brightens the eyes; I recently picked up a backup at Big Lots for $1!
I could see that being such a pretty summer look!
MAC Shimmermoss (now discontinued) is probably my all time favorite blue for spring/summer!
I can’t believe that’s discontinued!
I own 4 of your picks –Illamasqua Sadist is the only one that I don’t own.. I just can’t resist beautiful blue shades I guess 😉
I typically wear them with greys/taupes most of the year. In late spring-summer, I pair them with golds.
Sadist is AMAZING!
Blue is one shade of eyeshadow that I can rock!..I think it’s a color that looks good with brown eyes.
What’s your favorite blue-themed combo?
The grey, navy blue, and silvery blue shades in Dior’s Bleu De Paris eyeshadow palette makes a great blue smokey eye. 🙂
Oh, very nice, Melinda! I can see that being a pretty smoky blue eye.
And ones again the Inglot one grabs my attention the most 🙂 We just got our very first Inglot store here (oh em gee) so it’s time I start making use of that!
YAYYY!
*sigh* I love all of these? I am truly, hopelessly addicted to blue eyeshadow – but I’ve never seen that Illamasqua one before! Now I’m having palpitations over it… 😀
Sadist is SO, so lovely.
I love the Infallible finishes so I might have to go check that out!
Let me know what you think, Erin!
I really love L’oreal timeless blue spark!
Me too! 😀
Blue isn’t really my “thing” but I do have a soft spot for MAC’s Birds & Berries (which might be blue or might be teal or might be peacock blue/green) which was LE from years ago. And I really love Sephora’s Surfer Babe eye liner pencil, which is a fabulous blue/green. I guess I like my blues with a bit of green in ’em.
It’s a fairly bluish-teal I think! 🙂 So… it counts!
Surfer Babe is gorgeous!
Loved Timeless Blue Spark! I usually go for Blues like MAC Deep truth and Loreal Midnight blue….
Deep Truth is a classic blue!
Blue is a tricky color on me. On the one hand, it opens my eyes, on the other – most shades look horrible on me (ranging from dated to black eye).
With the limited experimentation I’ve done, there’s only 2-3 looks (in no particular order):
1. A super soft icy color, usually with other pastels. It works when the blouse I’m wearing is a soft but muted pastel.
2. Sapphire, midnight, or certain shades of blue eyeliner (with almost no other eye makeup)
3. Rich blue shadow on the outer V (not overly dark, not overly bright).
All three actually look pretty good on me but finding the shades that will work is always a challenge.
This is so helpful, Jan! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
I usually pair blue eyeshadow with either silver or grey, depending upon my mood as well as the occasion. Keeping it light application-wise stops it looking too garish and dated, and also some blues tend to work better than others.
What kind of grays do you like with blue, Caroline?
UD’s Peace is the prettiest, hands down!
It’s a lovely shade!
I love blues….I have blue eyes…good combination or not I usually get compliments when I wear them. I only have Peace from this list but will check out the others! I love these types of posts…when you recommend your favorites in a category!
Where what you want! 😉 Whether it’s considered a “good” combo by rules, pfft!
This post is great! Could you maybe talk about how you like to integrate brighter eyeshadows into your look.
Hi Abby!
I like using them as an outer lid/crease color, a pop of color on the center of the lid, or along the lash line!
Blue eyeshadow isn’t something I own much of, but I do love Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts. Great for a simple wash over the eye. 🙂
I like the duochrome of that!
Limited use for these with my blue-gray eyes!
What way do you use it, Lisa?
Depending on how the shade leans, I’ll wear blues with silvers, teals, or purples. Even though it’s my favorite color, I don’t wear it as often as I might, because I seem to have some bizarre magnetism towards purple cosmetics.
So…if BLURPLE counts, I wear blurple stuff all the time.
Top three favorite blue purples?
UD Betrayal and Omen (which are definitely purple but have a very blue flash), Sephora Pool Party (though that’s so close to periwinkle)
Pool Party <3
