With the addition of 24 new shades to the ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadow family, I thought now would be a good time to refresh ideas on possible “quads” of shades featuring currently available eyeshadows (hopefully I caught any that were discontinued!).

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Christine, is there a chance that at some point (maybe after the Holiday release stuff is behind you) you might do one of these “inspiration/ideas” for the new Tarte Pro Remix palette (you reviewed it several weeks back but it’s finally available and I picked it up this past week). I’d love to see some of your pairings to move me out of my typical “rut”.

Oh, I hope you do get to do this one. I was so elated when I first saw it here and then was left hanging because Tarte was so cagey about when it would be in store. I figured you were pretty crazy busy with all the Holiday stuff that has been coming along like some out of control high speed train but I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this palette might end up on your radar again (maybe others here have it too and would add their voices to my request).

Loooove these, especially the earth-toned quads which are giving me 70s vibes. CP should totally collab with you to curate a few 9- or 6-pan palettes! I feel like smaller palettes with a narrower, more unique color story are the most inspirational and the route that companies should take in 2019.
