14 Renewing Shades of Green (Cool-Toned Edition)

As promised in yesterday’s look at warm-toned greens, here is a list of cooler-toned green options. I decided to go for a mix of lighter, medium, and darker takes on green, because I think that covers more skin tones and preferences as well! 🙂

Go For A Ride is not only one of my favorite green products, but one of my all-time favorite eyeliners. It’s perfection! So far, I haven’t had an opportunity to play around with Iggy. Was *going* to yesterday, unfortunately for me and my plans, someone I know called me and proceeded to keep me tied up on the phone for over FOUR & A HALF HOURS!!! Put a serious dent in my time ! I know I’m going to have to set up some firm boundaries with her, because she just doesn’t show me any consideration time wise. Maddening! ?
Anyway, back to the fun stuff, Tarvos is so lovely and it’ll be a battle between it and Silver Sun! I also love Revlon Top Speed np in Jaded! And of course, UD Dragon is still a “love” of mine.?

Sadly, I don’t really have favorite cool green makeup, because cool green eyeshadow doesn’t look very flattering on me (even though it matches the undertones in my skin, it clashes violently with the olive green flecks in my eyes, and I just don’t care for it). And so far, I haven’t been brave enough to try green lipstick. I do own MUFE ME304 Emerald, and it is a great eyeshadow, it’s just not all that flattering on me. I would be interested to try Tarvos and Typhoon, though. They’re a little different from the other cool green I’ve tried and might work better with the olive and the warm brown in my eyes, as well as the grey rim around my irises. I do love experimenting with color!

Your eye colour sounds incredibly similar to mine all the way down to the dark grey outer ring. Greens are rarely my best choice either. Warm greens make me look sallow. I’m not fond of cooler greens for the same reason stated in your comment: they tend to work much better overall with my skintone but look weird and strange against my eye colour.

It’s funny, Wendy, because I really love green eyeshadow, but if they’re cool they don’t work, and if they’re too yellow they don’t work, either. Cool greens and teals work well for me in clothing, but not warm greens, they don’t work with my skin tone. But my eyes like certain olive and bright greens — as long as I wear a pink lip color at the same time.

Wwendy, I’m wondering, what shades of eyeshadow do you feel look best with your eyes? I tend to gravitate to silvery grays, violet blues, and greenish browns with icy yellows, but, it seems like I can mix things up a bit, with my cool undertones but warmer eyes and hair — there are only a few colors that really don’t work for me.

Fran, do you happen to own Nars Pasiphae Dual Intensity eyeshadow? Or another warm brown with green duochrome? Because I know what you mean about it clashing. For that same reason, I intend on wearing Pasiphae all over my lid blended into my browbone highlight, with KVD Iggy blended on just on my outer corners inward into Pasiphae and lower lashline.

Fran Avatar

Yes, I like Pasiphae very much. So, I should try using a touch of a cool green along with it? I can try that with MUFE 304 Emerald (I don’t have Iggy, just the purple, silver, and dark grey metal crush eyeshadows).

Nancy, it’s so funny, I tried this morning but chickened out, used I-330 Linden Green instead of ME-304 Emerald. Isn’t that funny? I’m going to have to try again, lol!

Okay, more confusion re warm and cool – looking at that delicious Typhoon, I’d have thought it was warm(ish) rather than cool. My fave cool green (I think it’s cool, anyway) is probably UD Dragon (LE from Vice 3, I think). I also like Pre-Nup and I need to check and see if I own Go for a Ride or if I’m thinking of another shade. Sephora’s Good Mood and Surfer Babe (cool green? teal? somewhere between) are 2 more I’d include. Oh, and MAC Humid is another fave of mine but, again, I’m not sure if it’s cool, warm or neutral but I’m thinking “cool”. Ooooh – I also need to mention Lise Watier’s Vert Enchante but it’s similar to Silver Sun so it might actually be warm, though it’s also similar to Typhoon so maybe it’s cool???

I was going to say that I don’t a have favorite cool green — because I haven’t figured out how to make it work for me yet — and then I saw the British Racing Green. Have it, love it! As far as makeup, though, I can’t figure out how to work cool greens into my overall look, even though I have some (Go For A Ride being one). It’s not about it not being flattering (that’s not usually why I put together the looks I do), but more about cool greens taking over my entire look. I only have to put on a tiny accent of cool green and suddenly it’s the only thing you notice — it really stands out on me!

So much goodness in one post! The only one I have is Risque. Some of these are on my wish list, and I just added some more. lol

Some of my favorite cool greens: Eyeshadow — UD Junkie (my very favorite!), Damaged, Mildew, C-Note, and Grasshopper; Milani Bella Emerald; Tarina Tarantino Sweetzer; Nars Night Porter; ABH Isla; Nyx Prismatics Mermaid and Jaded. Eyeliner — UD Mars (LE, but my favorite), Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeliner pencil in Hunter Green and Jungle Green (I think these were holiday LE); bhCosmetics bh Party Girl in Dream; Nyx Eye/Eyebrow Pencil in Emerald City, Teal, and Green Shimmer. Lipstick — Nyx Wicked Lippie in Risque; Makeup Revolution Atomic Lipstick in Serpent; Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Dirty Money and Mistletoe; ColourPop Ultra Matte in Dr. M; Jcat Wonder Lip Paint in Pishslaver. Highlighter — Looxi Beauty Highlight in Voodoo.

I love green. But, I feel like I can wear warm green okay. I have yet to figure out how to wear cool greens without feeling like it just looks just ridiculous. Not sure what the deal is. I’ve had Iggy in and out of my cart for two days. I’m so aftraid its going to sell out!

I only have one of these, Emeraude. a lovely shade of green, I think. I do want quite a few from this list, Iggy most of all, such a happy green. British Racing Green is gorgeous, I’d love to wear it and I don’t even like green nailpolishes on my nails 🙂
Tarvos is also absolutely fantastic.
I think green, both cool and warm are such fun colours to wear.

i don’t know if they can be considered cool Green shades but I looooove MAC Silver Sun and MAC Greensmoke. Both are cool tone shades for me.
