If you had $100 to splurge on any high-end beauty product, what would it be?

Honestly, right now, I really want multiples of Chikuhodo’s GSN-09 brush ($25 a pop), but I don’t NEED them by any means. So, perfect for an imaginary splurge!

$100 does cut it for my high end splurges. I would buy another Sonia Rykiel’s lip lacquer since that brand is being discontinued and another eyeshadow compact.

Sarah Avatar

I’ve always wanted Meteorites, but can’t bring myself to buy something that would have such a subtle effect on my overall look, so probably those! And throw in a Dior Lip Glow, too, another thing I can’t justify buying 🙂

Gillian Avatar

OK, so $100 is roughly £64. At the moment it would probably be 5 Shu Uemura eyeshadows (£55) to add to my collection. I don’t have that many but they’re great for travelling with in a small Z Palette if you want to take a large selection. There’s such a range of beautiful colours!

With the rest I’d probably pick up the Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon. I love that line of lipsticks! For the price the quality is so good. They’re up there with much more expensive brands that charge four times that amount! 😀

Kat Avatar

If I were forced to splurge, as in buy a product I wouldn’t normally buy because it’s too expensive, I’d buy the Hourglass blush trios or maybe YSL Touche Eclat (did I spell that right?). I think there was something else I saw lately but I don’t remember what it was. Maybe a fancy moisturizer.

Hanna Avatar

The Lorac pro and Lorac pro 2, I’m obsessed with both and I’ve heard such great things! I really want the mauve color in Lorac 1 but is nectar from 2 similar enough to replace it?

Sarah Avatar

If you look at Temptalia’s swatches, you can tell Mauve is much cooler and more purply, while Nectar is a beautiful peachy color, so I would say they’re definitely two different shades. I have both now, and I can’t get enough of either of them, for everyday looks and for more night out looks!

cara Avatar

I know exactly what I would buy because these 2 items have been sitting in my Nordstrom shopping basket for many months.
*Napoleon foundation primar
*Burberry illuminating powder in 01

CharleyJB Avatar

Im sorry to shatter your dreams but I urged you to reconsider.
As an Australian, I’ve tried just about every Napoleon Perdis product there is (as horribly overpriced as they are) and I must tell you, they’re REALLY not all they’re cracked up to be.

They have a great marketing team over at NP, so their products sound like the cosmetic equivalent of the Second Coming.
If only they’d float more cash towards their product development rather than marketing, then maybe they’d have something worthy of your $100 dream.

Hope that wasn’t offensive, just hate seeing money wasted on crap products

cara Avatar

Nope not offensive at all I appreciate the feedback. I have had the Napoleon primary before (deluxe sample in my glossy box) and I LOVE it. So it’s not the name I’m after its the heaven in the bottle! Lol I’ve tried several other brands and I just can’t find one that feels as good or makes my makeup stay as well. Do you have any different brand recomendations for a primar that is comparable? I currently use two faced hangoverx and it’s decent and have hourglass veil primer that I don’t care for. I don’t like the siliconish texture

CharleyJB Avatar

Fair enough, their primers aren’t too bad, I condeed, but the foundations are lacking.

My top Primer picks would have to be Giorgio Armani Light Master Primer, Tarte Brightening Primer or the BB Primer (which I love wearing on its own on days when my skin is behaving), Nars Light Optimising Primer & any of the Laura Mercier ones.

Would love to hear some of your favs too. Not just primers, anything… I have Cosmetic Voyerism…

Mariella Avatar

Just one product? Probably fragrance – Aerin Rose or Atelier Mistral Patchouli and Grand Neroli. If it’s several products, probably another Marc Jacobs liner ((O)Vert), the Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadow palette or a few UD, Bite and MUFE lipsticks (maybe one from each brand).

Amy Avatar

I would buy a becca shimmering skin perfector $38, YSL rouge volupte $35, and a NARS audacious lipstick… That’s a little over $100, but it’s hard to stay on budget when it comes to makeup.

Erin Avatar

If I had $100 to spend on HE stuff I’d choose one or two of these.
For straight makeup:

1. Hourglass Blush Palette
2. Naked 3
3. Rouge G Rouge Parade
4. Chanel Perfection Lumiére

Tools:

1. Chanel Duo Fiber Brush

Skincare:

1. Glamglow masks
2. Pai rosehip oil
3. Fresh Black Tea Sleep Pack
4. Fresh Black Tea Toner
5. Goldfadden Eye Cream
6. The Glossier Phase 1 set. Possibly, honorable mention 🙂

Kelly Avatar

I have the naked 3 , and from your pic, I think we are about the same coloring? Pale with dark-ish hair and blue-grey eyes?

The lorac unzipped palette gas the same pinky tones and is soooooooo much better! The naked 3 swatches beautifully but everything turns brown on my eyelids, but the lorac stays pink-y and cranberry-y and true to pan.

Anyhow, I have both, and recommend unzipped over naked 3

Sarah Avatar

Ah, it’s so hard to choose! Maybe MAC brushes? Ah, but I also love lipstick, I’d adore picking up a bunch of UD and Too Faced lipsticks… and I could sort of justify the Hourglass blushes or the primer if I could convince myself I wasn’t buying it with my money… this would be a huge struggle.

High end splurge with $100? Nice try. Unfortunately $100 doesn’t go very far these days. Now back to the splurge: I’d buy one Suqqu brush or one Hakuhodo foundation brush (J or G series) with a J142 crease brush. Japanese makeup brushes are my addiction.

xamyx Avatar

The Kevyn Aucoin cream contour/highlight duo, and the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar duo. Both are already on my wishlist, but at the very bottom, and I have everything else budgeted out.

Deborah Avatar

I am not familiar with that brand but just checked them out: CHIKUHODO
Passion Series PS-1 Powder $64 Yes, a bit pricey! LOL

I’m not sure what I would purchase with $100 splurge right now.

CharleyJB Avatar

After trying the Luminous Silk & the Lasting Silk, I would definitely urge you towards the Lasting Silk over Luminous. The Lasting one does everything that Luminous does but it just, as the name suggests, “Lasts” longer.
Just my thoughts, figured I’d suggest it.
Either way, they’re both lovely but Luminous is ok for 4-5 hours where as the Lasting, well, you get the idea

Helen Avatar

Ok I JUST had this happen, my Mom gave me a 100 euro gift card for Christmas that I spent about 80% of today. I bought Charlotte Tilbury finishing powder ( I was torn between it and Guerlain Meteorites in Blanc, which I will save up and try when the CT eventually runs out) and Naked 2. I recently treated myself to a really good high end foundation and concealer, so my current priority is getting really really great basics to replace all my old drugstore stuff, so I’ll probably spend the last of my gift card replacing my sample Lancome Hypnose Star with a full sized one.

Usually I’m a quantity over quality kind of girl, so it’s really hard for me to spend over 40 euro on one thing, but I’m really glad I’ve forced myself to do it. De-stashing all my crap and replacing it with HG high end stuff has been a total game-changer.

CharleyJB Avatar

JUST $100?!?!? And I have to pick JUST one thing?!?! I’m suddenly feeling quite sick with anxiety. What a conundrum… I thought this site was suppost to be fun? Hehe.

I’d really like to try some of the Tom Ford Line.
I’m not sure where to find it here in Australia but I’m guessing a foundation would be at least $100 here so I’m choosing that.

Georgia Avatar

La Mer Translucent loose powder – which I did splurge on – it was my Christmas gift to me from me. LOVE the stuff. It really IS like Fairy Dust on the skin. Worth Every Cent! – it’s not quite $100, but at $65-$75 a pop, it comes very close. I’m also considering a Tom Ford lipstick, that’s to YOUR reviews! You’re not helping my wallet, but I DO look fabulous, 😀

CJ Avatar

I’d have to go with a Tom Ford quad ($79) or partially subsidize a full-size Jo Malone in Blush Peony and Suede ($120). The perfume cost doesn’t bother me, but for some reason the eyeshadow does, probably because the packaging drives me nuts. Or maybe I’d try to hit Nordstrom during Mascara Madness and stock up. 😉

Meghan Avatar

Haha I’m the opposite! I don’t mind paying a lot for eye shadow but perfume seems so luxurious for something really trivial? That said… I do own the Jo Malone Blush Peony & Suede & it’s glorious. And I don’t own a TF palette even though I’m lusting after them!

For perfectly hydrated FLAWLESS skin, I would choose:
Dior Capture Total Foundation.
I got a sample and fell in love. I knew I had to fall out of love as it is $92.00 a bottle!

Fran Avatar

A real splurge for me would be a Tom Ford lipstick and a Guerlain Rouge G lipstick — I’ve never spent $50 on a lipstick (yet), and have nowhere nearby to look at them in person, so spending $50 on a lipstick sight unseen feels like a big risk to me — I’d still have to order from somewhere with a wonderful return policy, in case they didn’t work out for me. I’d probably choose Tom Ford in Pussycat, because it seems like a strong, medium, mauve-y pink that would be close to a MLBB for me (and MLBBs are *very* hard for me to find), and the Rouge G in Gladys, Garconne, or Greta, because bright, dark blue-based pink/reds almost always look good on me.

Another splurge would be Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light (I currently use Dim Light as my finishing powder every day, but would like Diffused Light for a look with less pink in it) together with either the Hourglass Finishing Brush No. 7 or the Hourglass Powder Brush No. 1 — total $110 plush tax, but I have five other Hourglass brushes and adore them all, they’re the best synthetic brushes I’ve found so far, and I’m trying to gradually switch to all cruelty-free brushes.

If it had to be a single item, defo gotta be skincare, like a Clarisonic. If it could be multiple things that are IRL a little out of my comfort zone price point wise, probably Ellis Faas E128, L203, and S302, although whoops that’s over $100.

jilly Avatar

I have to agree with those who said $100 wouldn’t get us very far. I’ve fallen in love with the Chanel Le Lift creams since the MUA at Saks used them on me, and that would get me almost to the eye cream. Ah well, to dream…

Kate B Avatar

I use Le Lift Creme Fine. Not a whole lot online about the range, but I think it is excellent. Nourishing, feels like velvet going on, doesn’t break me out. Your $100 is a solid down payment
