Urban Decay’s Holiday 2008 assortment offers this delectable eyeshadow palette called the Book of Shadows ($45.00). Personally, I think it’s really the star product of what’s available (or coming soon) for their holiday offerings, despite there being a bejeweled “Poison Ring” ($50.00). It offers an adorable pop up of flowers and eyeshadows, which is cute, though not something that really makes or breaks the palette. When the lid is popped up, there is a small mirror available, so for those in a pinch, you could use it to apply the contents found inside.
What I like about this palette is they don’t sacrifice eyeshadow quality. Each eyeshadow is pigmented, smooth, and there is such a great variety of colors within it. There are dozens of amazing eyeshadow combinations to be found and created! Oh, and did you see the price tag? You get sixteen eyeshadows for that price (oh, and two palette brushes and a trial size of UDPP). Cooler yet is it includes several never-before-seen colors from Urban Decay, which are exclusive to this palette, making it just that more tempting. I strongly urge you to check this out at your nearest Urban Decay counter or Sephora store!

that’s what i love about urban decay, they’re shadows are pricier but they always come out with palettes that are affordable.

I bought this last night on ebay, can´t *wait* for it to arrive!
Seems like the glittery eyeshadows are the minority in this palette – what a steal!!
Thanks for the swatches, Christine.

I think I want this. Absinthe looks stunning! Can you think of any dupes for it (any brand)?
Christine
Monday, September 29, 2008
To be honest, I can’t think of a great dupe off the top of my head. MAC might have had one similar to it… Metamorph? But it was paler and not as green.

Too Funny! I was looking at these on Sephora last night and I was like; hmm, I think I want these! Now that I’ve seen swatches I really want them! GIMMIE!
I got an UD eye palette for a friend of mine and she almost didn’t get it! LOL. they have really pretty colors
Christine

LOL!!
It totally worked out for me, because I think UD has some great shadow choices with amazing color and pay off… but I haven’t been able to purchase many. Now I have a whole palette full!

Thanks for the swatches!
Wow, that’s a lot of colors…and they’re all so beautiful. How big is the palette?
Christine
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
I’d say it’s about 8″ wide and 5″ in length? It’s decent sized. It’s definitely worth the money for how many shadows you get, and you should be able to get plenty of use out of the colors in it. Even if you start getting through one, you can buy it full-size later on if you love it that much :)

Hey I know there are brushes included with them, how’re the quality of those? Thanks for the swatches!
Christine
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
They’re decent, but not as good as a full-sized brush, IMO.

I love UD and I want this badly, but I’m not allowed to buy anything besides the MAC holiday pigments and MAYBE some brushes. I am CUT OFF for the rest of the year.
But maybe I’ll buy it for my best friend. And she can let me use it. Heh heh heh heh.

Oh no! Cut off :( Aww!!

Oh my goodness I soooo desperately want Absinthe and Protest – I wish UD would bring them out as individual shadows, because I have almost all of the permanent colors in the palette and I don’t want to buy the palette when I would only use two colors :-(
But really, I must go searching for an Absinthe dupe….
Christine
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
Aww :( I hope they do for your sake! At least UD is at Sephora, so maybe you can head there and go swatch happy in search of a dupe? LOL.

i really really like absinthe. and the set is quite affordable, but what i really don’t like about urban decay is their packaging. it always somehow looks..cheap.
Christine
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
I agree that their packaging could be better in some aspects, too!

I’ve always wanted to try the UD shadows but I’ve been reluctant to stray from Mac cause I loove their colour payoff. This palette seems like it might be worth a try …
Christine
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
UD has excellent color pay off, most especially on their shimmery shadows.

That Absinthe e/s is too much, UD needs to release it in full size immediately.
