The Summer Season: Laura Mercier Hydrangea Lipstick
Laura Mercier Hydrangea Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.14 oz.) is glistening shade of vibrant raspberry pink. It’s creamy, moisturizing, and it has absolutely no shimmer. It does, however, have a slight, glossy sheen that brightens it. It’s glossy enough that you could easily skip gloss if you’re a lipstick with lipgloss kind of person. The color is phenomenal, and the pigmentation is amazing. I truly did not expect such a vibrant, pigmented shade from Laura Mercier!
Is this the right pink lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

Hi Christine, really appreciate all the hardwork you do to keep this site running. It truly is the best beauty review site EVER!!!! I was wondering if you know a dupe for this b/c I cant seem to find this lipstick anywhere and I absolutely love the pigmentation!
Hi Mel!
Thank you! Have you tried the Swatch Gallery? You could compare pinks very easily that way! :)
how would say this compares to Illamasqua's frenzy intense lipgloss in terms of color and lasting power?
It has a totally different texture - this is like a lipstick, the other has the feel of a gloss. Lasting power is similar - this probably a little shorter.
I can't find this shade on sephora.com or on the Laura Mercier website? Is it a new shade? discontinued? Thanks Christine.
Love the color but am a little scared it'll be too bright on me. I wear the same Dior nudeskin foundation color as you do so maybe it'll be ok... It does remind me a little of Korres lip butter in Quince for color but not the finish. Or am I crazy?
I really like that one! I'll have to take a look at in when I go to Sephora to return my Purity Made Simple cleanser. Would this be a good choice for warm and cool undertones, or does it work best for one over the other? And what about staying power and fading, what is that like?
I'm not sure if it's at Sephora, but hopefully it is! I think it works well for both :) I get good wear (about four hours before it starts to fade, and it gives a light stain afterward).
Hi Christina, are there "rules" to wearing certain colours of lipstick? I have very dark brown hair, I'm super super pale but have yellow undertones & I have blue eyes. I suit corals but I'm scared of every other colour.. do you think this colour could work for me? I'm unsure as to what colours I should go for & stay far, far away from! Thanks! :)
I don't think it's on Sephora, but Blue Mercury has it. Wear time is about four hours for me, with a residual stain.
hi christine! hope you had a nice weekend! :) this lipstick is gorgeous on you (you can pull off anything though!). i love hot pink lipsticks and have quite a few (my current faves are MAC show orchid and impassioned), so i don't know if i need another hot pink lippie.. but i was just wondering how you'd compare this to illamasqua frenzy and MAC girl about town? i have tan/medium skin, dark hair and brown eyes and love to experiment with all kinds of looks.. which one would you reccommend?? :)
Thanks, Elleyn! It's brighter than Girl About Town, not as hot pink as Frenzy. I think any of those three would be pretty on you!
Holy MOLY is that a gorgeous color! Not that $22 is an exorbitant amount for a lipstick, but I wonder if there is a cheaper dupe...
would you describe this as blue toned or warm toned? i'm very pale with blonde hair and blue eyes. it looks gorgeous on you but not sure it would suit?
This is a very pretty shade. I only have one lipstick (or rather a stickgloss) from Laura Mercier, I think it's Azalea, that's very pretty too.
I'm swooning! This is gorgeous on you, Christine! Quite possibly one of my favorite shades from the Summer Season line-up :)
Trying to do mental rundown of all my lipsticks to see if I can justify getting this. It's beautiful.
