The Spring Season: Urban Decay Naked Lipstick
Urban Decay Naked Lipstick ($22.00) is a beautiful soft rosy pink with a very subtle golden shimmer and glossy sheen. I fell in love with Naked when it debuted last year–it’s such a pretty pink. It’s wearable by itself, with a smoky eye, or for an everyday look. It’s soft and natural without being boring. It has a creamy feel but doesn’t have a lot of slip.
Urban Decay lipsticks have a sweet caramel brulee kind of scent, but I don’t find it lingers (though I like it myself) once you’ve put it on. The packaging is interesting and fun, though not terribly functional–there’s a dagger that comes out on one end and then a flat top (but that’s the place with the label!) on the other end. It’s cute, but I just wish it was more functional. But for a color as pretty as Naked, I can make an exception!
Is this the right pink lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

wow its a very nice color compared to swatches i saw on youtube, i guess it depends on ur skin tone i wud say im about an NC30 i hope this lipstick will look nice on me aha cuz i rely wnt it for my birthday! :D :P
Omg I wish I got this instead of indecent though I dont think they had it in the shop i bought mine from :( I really upset now
what is the difference between this lipstick (naked) and the other urban decay lipstick called rush?
if at all possible, could you please swatch urban decay's lovechild lipstick? i'd greatly appreciate it!
I'll probably spend loads at the Urban Decay counter when I go to London in May, and it's all your fault ;) Shame we don't have a shop here that sells it.
hello christine m so thankful to u for suggesting me this during UD's f&f sale... but u know the colour doesnt show up on me as it shows on u do i have to apply concealer on my lips for that pllssssssss tell me how to make good use of this colour i really love this colour.... and wanna wear this but due to this reason i dont wear it often...
how would you compare this to urban decay rush lipstick? they're both gorgeous but look very similar to me
Cooler and not so shimmery - Naked is yellow based and has noticeable shimmer. They are similar, but they do have some differences :)
Okay now I have to get this for sure!! Or is there a mac dupe that comes as close to this christine? Oh btwaax random question but I was looking at old videos and I was wondering where do you get that sleek sminny spritzer you use? I've been using old spray bottles from bath products but I would like a sleeker one!
It looks like the lip color of the season is nudes/light pinks. Seriously, it's like everything you've shown us in the last month is the same. I guess makeup companies really like to stick to the trends.
Hi Trisha, I'm not sure what you mean. The whole point of the "Spring Season" is to showcase nudes, light pinks, and light corals from different brands. I specifically chose these shades for that reason - the overwhelming majority of the shades featured in the "Spring Season" are not new for spring but permanent, preexisting products.
OMG I've seen this one on SOOOOO many bloggers! And every time I fall in love with it a little more! Of course, your pics are the best, and now I totally want it! I may have to add it to my "OMG Have to Have" list!! :D
Reminds me of Chanel Ming a little but I think MIng is a bit lighter and maybe more yellow based. So many pretty pinks and I want it all.
I saw this and thought, that's the pink for me, I love it. Then I read it was Naked, haha. I already own it and it's my favorite pink. Although mine broke so I melted it down and although I didn't let it boil it just doesn't look the same to me. I may have to rebuy it.
I love this color! I bought it about a month after the release and have already used all the way past the dagger (I tried to apply from the back of the stick to preserve the dagger for a while but it wasn't working so well, ha). I think my lips are more pigmented than yours because it's not quite as noticeable and pink on me but it's still such a perfect, everyday color. With regards the smell - I don't think it's nearly as strong as the Pocket Rocket glosses. Much more subtle. I got a sample of one of those and the artificiality of the smell made it unwearable for me, but the lipstick is fairly subtle and rather nice!
I love this colour...I already own Rush and I think they're quite similar so I have to decide if I need both!
I love urban decay lipstick, but I also find the packaging horribly impractical. Also this is something that doesn't happen to everyone, but it can have a really awful, impossible to miss taste. It happens to me, and I've seen other ladies post about it online as well. I wish they would change that part of the formula, because otherwise I love their lipsticks!
I tend to miss taste, just because I don't lick my lips or ingest much of my lipstick (I spent a year training myself *not* to, lol), so I have, thankfully, not encountered that! But yeah, the packaging, while cute and all that, isn't practical!
I'm really good about not licking my lips or anything but it's still really noticeable, I think it's something that you taste, and it's awful, or you can't taste it at all.
I love this shade. Thanks for the swatches, it looks beautiful on the lips. You make me want it more and more
Pretty on you, but this does not work on my face: more pigmented lips than yours, and a complexion that's slightly more olive , yet as light as yours. Washed me right out.
I recently just bought this lipstick and I can't say its "full coverage" like it says on the Sephora website. I also found it to be particularly drying and accentuated the lines on my lips. I agree that it is very creamy though.
I am in the process of deciding between Naked and Rush as my 'my-lips-but-better' lippie They just seem too similar...I don't want a lipstick that will be EXACT colour of my lips, because my lips are pale and I want a lipstick that will give them a bit of a colour but still look like I don't wear anything...
Maybe Naked, then, because the shimmer is more obvious in Naked - I'd say Rush is a lil' cooler, Naked a little more yellow-based.
I brought this lipstick just because the review, it looks awesome on you, perfect color. But I guess my Lips are a lot more pigmented, it's not even pink on my lips =(
lovely. Christine, your lips always take to color so very well. There's been 3 times now that I've bought lipsticks based on how it looks on you. But when I use them, it sure doesn't look as nice. What is your trick? A way that you are applying it? A lip scrub or conditioner? Foundation on lips before applying the lipstick? Granted my lips are more pigmented than yours, can this be the sole reason my lip/lipsticks arent looking as nice as yours, when I use the same exact product? Thank you for your time!
Hi MB, Pigmentation can make a huge difference! What are the lipsticks looking like on you? Are they lighter? Redder? I have only slightly pigmented lips, but they're not ultra pigmented (nor not pigmented). If you have redder/rosier lips, colors tend to look redder/rosier (e.g a pale pink on me may end up looking quite rosy on you). I don't typically apply foundation on my lips prior to application (though it can be used to mute natural pigmentation).
