The Spring Season: Lancome Voile de Rose Lipstick
Lancome Voile de Rose L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick ($29.00) is a creamy, medium pink with warmer undertones. I almost didn’t include it as part of the Spring Season, just because it’s the pink is a little more amped up than I was originally thinking, but I couldn’t resist — the color is really such a lovely shade of pink. L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks apply like a dream; soft, creamy, and moisturizing. The color is opaque and clings to lips without being drying. Lancome’s L’Absolu Rouge is definitely one of my favorite lipstick formulas to apply.
Is this medium pink the one for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.
See photos and swatches…

Sunday, January 3, 2010Lancôme has the best pink shades, give a try to Color Fever Lipstick in Rose Explosion, basically it’s the same shade than this one, but slightly lighter and with a more glossy finish.

Sunday, January 3, 2010Wow I may have to pick this one up to! I’m having a pink moment.
MC
Sunday, January 3, 2010I love it!
Leila
Sunday, January 3, 2010I would totally wear that and I never wear any other lipstick color but red. That’s gorgeous. Thanks for the swatch.
Michelle

Andrea
Sunday, January 3, 2010This is stunning!!! I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed this before!!!
Ann
Sunday, January 3, 2010Wow, I think this might become the hit spring color! I’m in love <3
Cindy
Sunday, January 3, 2010I love the texture and moisture, but have a hard time with the smell of Lancome lipsticks. If only they smelled like yummy vanilla too!
Rachael
Sunday, January 3, 2010Oh great, now another lipstick I’m lemming, thanks Christine! haha :)
Roxanne
Sunday, January 3, 2010Wait! I love this one even more! Must. Resist. Spring. Season.
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Let me just warn you now… good luck, because it’s IMPOSSIBLE. ;)
amy
Sunday, January 3, 2010Pretty, I love pink lipsticks. This colour looks similar to one of the Guerlain Rouge G ( or at least close enough to me) and it is a better price point too! I would definitely whip out colours like these a lot for the spring.
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010I think you might be thinking of Georgia :)
Jacks
Sunday, January 3, 2010This is a winner for me – I LOVE soft, milky warm pink shades!
Vivi
Sunday, January 3, 2010OOOOOOOOOOOHMYGOSH this is SUCH a beautiful color!!!
Kristen
Sunday, January 3, 2010This is a gorgeous color. :]

Sunday, January 3, 2010oh no christine… you are going to KILL me with this spring season thing. i already have all 4 shades on my “must buy soon” list. LOVE this color from lancome, so glad you showcased it!
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Get ready to add a lot more, haha! There are sooo many pretty shades. I guess it can be hard to go wrong with pink, yeah? ;)
AnGeLwInGz
Sunday, January 3, 2010Gorgeous! Does it have a little peachy tone to it?
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010Hmm, mostly pink on me!
Rose
Sunday, January 3, 2010That is INSANELY pretty! I’ve been looking for a pink that isn’t too light for my fair skin. I don’t know if I’d shell out $29 for it though… Any good dupes?
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Right now, nothing cheaper, lol! I’ve only gone through 35 of the 135 I have set aside to cover/test/review for spring. (There are some I’ve reviewed over the years as well, but gotta re-do the swatch since everything is better quality now!)
Rose
Sunday, January 3, 2010Okay, thanks. Can’t wait to see the rest of the swatches!
Katie
Sunday, January 3, 2010I’m thinking I might have to get this one. It’s beautiful, and warm! I’m always looking for posts on warmer pinks since cool ones tend to look odd on me.
Dusty
Sunday, January 3, 2010This seasonal lipcolor series is such a wonderful addition to the website! I’m ALMOST so excited for you to get to fall that I want to hibernate through the spring and summer… ALMOST!
Yeah… Probably not. LOL! But I’m excited anyway!!! :)
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Haha!
It’s kind of funny, because for spring, everything is a little softer. Even this is a little brighter than I was thinking, but like I said, irresistible. It’s like, “How can I hold off posting about this lovely shade until summer?” (Of course, I’ll repost it come summer, too, haha!) Summer is going to be bright corals and pins… maybe some oranges, bronzes, and flashy purples thrown in. Fall, right now, I’m thinking berries and plums, maybe a few browner shades as well. I have not a clue what to do for holiday/winter. Maybe vamps, but we’ll see. Now’s the time for your input and suggestions, though ;)
Ashley
Sunday, January 3, 2010Gorgeous, but likely too expensive. It’d probably be close to 35 bucks here in Canada; I’m not willing to pay that much for something like that!
Rosie
Sunday, January 3, 2010I like this one the most out of the ones featured so far because it’s the most opaque and seems to sit best on your lips. It’s really pretty too, I’m glad you did feature it :).
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010It has this very natural cling… like it hugs your lips so it looks very natural and it’s not obvious (well, I mean… not texture wise, clearly almost no one’s lips are that color naturally!) that you’re wearing lipstick.
Ross
Sunday, January 3, 2010OMG I love this pink!!! Actually I was about to buy ming from chanel but this color is gorgeous!I hope it’s available on the Italian market.
Marta Fernandes
Sunday, January 3, 2010I’m sorry to say it probably isn’t. From what I’ve learned this shade isn’t sold in Europe.
kristina
Sunday, January 3, 2010I am officially loving this new series, it is right up my alley, as it probably is for many others.
You are killing my pocketbook Christine!
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010So sorry, Kristina’s pocketbook ;P
Nicole
Sunday, January 3, 2010Love it. Pinks are my faves. =]
Anitacska
Sunday, January 3, 2010It’s pretty, but I have bought several pink shades of Guerlain’s G lipsticks, including Gentiane and Gabrielle, so I will skip this. I have just realised I don’t actually own any Lancome lipsticks – only lipglosses. Better not start collecting them as well as Guerlain though, lol.
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010LOL! Do you have Giulette? OMG, it’s so, so pretty. I thought it’d work for the Spring Season, but it’s way too bright (will note it for summer, though).
Smiley
Sunday, January 3, 2010That looks gorgeous! I’ve never been interested in Lancome but this just makes me want to check it out!
Jenn
Sunday, January 3, 2010AHH!! Soo gorgeous!
Marta Fernandes
Sunday, January 3, 2010I absolutely love this lipstick and would have purchased it a long time ago if it wasn’t for the fact that it isn’t sold in Europe. :(
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Oh no :( I wonder why it isn’t…
Marta Fernandes
Sunday, January 3, 2010From what I was told some shades are exclusive to the US/Canada and others are exclusive to Europe. It seems Voile de Rose is a US exclusive.
Andrea
Tuesday, January 26, 2010Unfortunately I can’t seem to find this in Canada! Checked The Bay and Shoppers and neither carry it :(
Jennifer
Sunday, January 3, 2010omg It’s like the perfect pink (for me anyways) :) I can never have too many pretty pink lipsticks/glosses, so I’m loving the spring picks.
Arianne
Sunday, January 3, 2010Grrr… first the scarlet season… then spring season! I have a strong feeling that my lipstick collection will grow very quickly if I keep reading this series.
Translation: the lipsticks have been really nice so far. :D
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010LOL :D
kay
Sunday, January 3, 2010Such a nice colour but too light for my complexion. So NO I would not wear it.
Alix
Sunday, January 3, 2010I didn’t know Lancome lippies had gotten so pricey. And they *used* to smell like vanilla — what do they smell like now? Lovin’ the color…
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010It’s a newer formula – they have several others that aren’t as expensive :) These smell like a sweet rose, a little perfume-y.
Janine
Sunday, January 3, 2010I love love love love love that color!!!!
Lana
Sunday, January 3, 2010the color is so pretty!! do you put a primer or use lip balm before you put on your lipstick in these pictures? i really want to get the sara habb lip scrub. :)
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010Nope, just slap it on. I wear lip balm through the day, normally, but for lip swatches, it’s kind of like an assembly line :)
Aimee
Sunday, January 3, 2010Christine you’re killing me! I went out and bought this right away. :(
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010LOL, sorry :P
Nicole

Sylvie
Sunday, January 3, 2010can we say GORGEOUS! I am loving this series Christine!
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010So glad you like this series :)
Catherine
Sunday, January 3, 2010This pink is just soooo sooooo beautiful! I love it! I’ve never really tried any of Lancome’s lipsticks but this one really tempts me!
sizbelle
Sunday, January 3, 2010your lips look so kissable with this shade.
Jeri
Sunday, January 3, 2010I want to make sweet, sweet love to this colour, I already have a favourite from The Spring Season and it’s the middle of summer where I am! Love it!
Nora
Sunday, January 3, 2010Wow, this colour is gorgeous.
Just wondering – how does it compare to MAC’s Crosswires? The colour looks really similar – at least on my monitor – and since I already have it I want to know before I rush out and buy it. :) Thanks.
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Crosswires has a creamier look and finish – I’d say it’s a bit brighter as well.
Here’s Crosswires on me – http://gallery.temptalia.com/mac-crosswires-lipstick-2
Nora
Monday, January 4, 2010Thanks!
Emily
Sunday, January 3, 2010I am so confused! I bought this color today after seeing it here and it looks SO different! Not just on my lips but the color itself isn’t even close to the same. It is a brownish medium to dark pink and looks nothing like these photos! Do you think I got a dud?
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010OK, that is really weird! Brownish medium dark pink? Hmm. Have you swatched it yet? It’s definitely brown on me… very medium pink with a little rosy kick, but not dark or brown!
I even double-checked to make sure I didn’t mislabel or anything, but it’s Voile de Rose L’Absolu Lipstick.

Emily
Sunday, January 3, 2010I just tried it on again and my last description was a bit off! It looks more like a sheer red with a hint or orange lip stain or something! I tried to take a picture but it looks pink on camera- go figure! It looks gorgeous on you though (I must have a dud!). I’m going to go check out another tomorrow and see how it is. Thanks Christine!
Christine
Sunday, January 3, 2010Definitely check out another, I’m really sorry that it’s not what you expected :( That is so weird… I could see it being a little different on lips (since we all have different color/pigmentation), but in a swatch! it should be still similar enough.
JessicaM
Sunday, January 3, 2010i love this!! i call it healthy pink!
JessicaM
Sunday, January 3, 2010sorry for double posting but i have never fell in love like this with a pink lipstick before. i want one. :))
Katie
Sunday, January 3, 2010That is a fantastic shade of pink!
Lorna
Sunday, January 3, 2010i like this color because it is so warm and natural. i know lancome is still sort of high end but i never thought their l/s were more expensive than MAC’s or NARS. they are reaching up into YSL rouge volupte territory.
katrina
Sunday, January 3, 2010this is such a pretty color. do you know which shade on mac is this similar to?
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010Lovelorn blotted maybe…
Tavia
Sunday, January 3, 2010The color is beautiful. I really needed a new shade for the spring. I hope I can still find this one in the shops :)
Steffi
Monday, January 4, 2010I totally love that color
Hannah
Monday, January 4, 2010Is it me, or is this not available in England? Its not on the UK site
:(
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010Marta told us that it’s not available in Europe :( I had no idea and makes me so sad!
Steffi
Monday, January 4, 2010aw damn :( I was hoping it was being released later here :(
Hannah
Monday, January 4, 2010England is the worst for cosmetics!
Sugarbomb is not out over here either!!
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010Apparently some shades are exclusive to U.S. or exclusive to EU :(
Samantha
Monday, January 4, 2010This color is stunning. I might have to get it. This one, and Chanel Ming Rouge Allure Laque. I loved the Scarlet Season, and I have a feeling that I’ll love the Spring Season. My bank account is going to hate it, though.
A lot of really superb lipsticks have ‘Rouge’ in the name, I’ve noticed:
YSL Rouge Volupte
Guerlain Rouge G
Chanel Rouge Allure and Rouge Allure Laque
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge
There are probably more that I’ve either forgotten or haven’t heard of.
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010LOL, not shocking at all. Those are all some of my very favorite formulas!
Kate M.
Monday, January 4, 2010yay i’m so glad you’re doing spring season lipsticks!! this is simply gorgeous!
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010But of course!
Steffi
Monday, January 4, 2010Can you maybe tell me if this one looks real to you?
http://cgi.ebay.de/lancome-labsolu-rouge-lipstick-voile-de-rose-new_W0QQitemZ260471492276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDE_Beauty_Make_Up_Make_Up?hash=item3ca54f8eb4
cause this way I could get it :)
Christine
Monday, January 4, 2010The packaging looks very different. I know here in the U.S. (I know some companies vary packaging between countries), L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks have a slanted cap. The color looks about right, though.
Hannah
Monday, January 4, 2010I wouldnt trust any makeup of ebay.
Mac especially!!
Ive been lucky and have managed to get a few authentic bits off there.
But most of it are copies.
Extremely good copies at that!! The only way I could tell the difference was because the box opened up the wrong way!
Pontip
Monday, January 4, 2010I wonder if this will look good on a MAC’s NC42 complexion!
Christine
Tuesday, January 5, 2010I think it would!
MC
Monday, January 4, 2010Lancome’s not available at Sephora, is it?
Christine
Tuesday, January 5, 2010It’s available online at Sephora, not sure if it’s in all stores, though.
shivani
Monday, January 4, 2010I love Lancome’s lipsticks and this is a gorgeous color. Thanks for the review.
abby
Tuesday, January 5, 2010This looks like a very pretty colour. Can you think of a MAC dupe for this one?
Christine
Friday, January 8, 2010Can’t think of a great MAC dupe :(
Faith
Tuesday, January 5, 2010I absolutely LOVE this, but I need to find a less expensive dupe since I’m on a budget right now…
Liza
Saturday, January 9, 2010WOW. I need to buy this!
What’s the number of the color?
Christine
Monday, January 25, 2010Mine doesn’t have a number…
Liza
Tuesday, January 26, 2010ohh… and we here in Russia have only numbers, no names of the colors ( a pity. but thanx
Christine
Tuesday, January 26, 2010Opposite here :(
Angie
Thursday, January 21, 2010Does this lippie have the same icky rose scent as other Lancome lippies? If so, is Guerlain Rouge G in Georgia a close dupe? Thanks!
Christine
Thursday, January 21, 2010Yeah, it has a rosy scent, though maybe not as heavy as some of the other formulas, but heavy enough. Rouge G lipsticks are fairly scented (not as much as KissKiss, though), but it’s more of sweet scent… just a heads up!
It’s similar, maybe not a perfect dupe, but definitely similar!
