The Scarlet Season: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a vibrant, true red with a creamy texture, glossy finish, and goes on opaque with little fuss. It applies surprisingly smooth and easily, without any feathering or bleeding from the get-go (but as with any red lipstick or gloss, I always recommend a lip liner for secure color). This is a shade that doesn’t run too blue or too orange, though if pressed, I’d consider it a blue-red. I love the glossiness of the finish, because it almost looks like you’ve already topped it with clear gloss.

The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

  7. Julia says:

If applied with a brush do you think it would be a little less opaque?
I mean, is the color buildable?

  8. Sarah M says:

Very beautiful red, but probably too bright for me to pull off :o

  13. Audrey S says:

This is my favorite red–always makes me feel confident!

  14. daphne says:

This is outrageously beautiful! I can’t believe a glossy red lipstick applies so smooth and clean – I think it looks about as nice on your lips (at least from this picture!) as Dragon does. It’s got a real bombshell look to it. Hope you feature it in a look soon! I am thinking about picking this up…my only UD lipstick is Naked, which I love, but I’ve been lazy about getting them because there aren’t a ton of lip swatches out there, and the packaging, while gorgeous, is a bit cumbersome. Still, this one might convince me.

  15. Lorna says:

that looks like such a good pin up girl lipstick. beautiful.

  16. jeannie says:

I am wearing red lipstick right now as I am typing this and I feel so fierce! =)

    Hey there!

I just found your blog a couple of days ago, and I’m loving it! I’ve been through something ridiculous like the first 70 pages.. :)

Anyways, here’s a question for you: You do lots of red lips and I LOVE them. Do you have any lipsticks/glosses you would rec. for a girl with pale skin, green eyes, and a vibrant auburn (really red in the sun, but a brown-red). I’ve been eyeing the lipstick queen sinner red..but I don’t know if it’s too bright…any ideas are appreciated:)

(Also, your blog made me cringe for missing out on MAC’s cult of cherry, haha. I managed to get my hands on some of the CoC lipglass last night, though!)

    • Christine says:

Wow!! I give you props for getting through 70 pages, and I am flattered that you have spent the time to go through so many pages, too! :)

I know it sounds funny, but redheads can pull off reds! There’s no condition to it – they can. If you cooler toned, I’d go with more of a blue-based red; if you’re warmer toned, orange-based reds really pop on redheads.

Ohh, glad you were able to score some of the CoC lipglass last night! Congrats ;)

  18. Agnes says:

My favorite red is Lady Danger by MAC which I know isn’t really a true red. But would you say Revolution is a little similar? Because I would loooove to try it if it is.

    • Christine says:

If I remember correctly, Lady Danger is kind of an orange-y red — I’d say that this different enough that they’re not the same. They’re both in the red vein, so they’re a *little* similar, LOL. I’d say give it a shot if you can!

  19. Sher says:

omg! I need this in my life. reminds me a lil of gosh’s lambada but more blue toned.

  20. J says:

I seriously need this NOW *__* it looks almost as good/if not better than Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Lacque

  21. Georgie says:

This is so gorgeous, but you’re going to make want all the shades you feature ;) . Looks stunning on you!

    xoxo
