Scarlet Season:  Orange -Based Reds Round-up

I’m surprised (and quite happy about it!) that we covered nearly as many orange-based reds as blue-based reds.  I just feel like we ended up with a very well-rounded bunch of reds we were able to feature over the past three months, which is such a good thing.  It means I was able to tested out numerous shades and variations, but it also means that everyone was able to see that variety, too!

I’m not too keen on orange-reds on myself, but my favorites on myself were Dolce & Gabbana Sheer, Guerlain Geisha, La Prairie Rouge Clair, MAC Rockocco, and Urban Decay Revolution.  My absolute favorites in terms of formula and application overall (whether or not I liked it on me) were Giorgio Armani #401, Chanel Coromandel, Dolce & Gabbana Fire, La Prairie Rouge Clair, and Urban Decay Revolution–they just applied effortlessly and looked it.

Which were your favorites?

funny the colours do not show on me like that at all! I have 401 GA and love it, but it looks like chanel laque dragon looks on you! when I sow the chanel on you went to try it and it was totaly diferent colour on my lips.

loved and enjoyed your red lip posts! thanks

  2. I love the side by side pictures. it’s easy to see the subtle variations between all the colors.

  3. You did an amazing job!!

I’m just wondering… What would you recommend to a warmtoned girl, with blue eyes (a bit of green round the iris)? :) I’m so lost with what kind of lipstick colour works best for me, warm or cold… Same thing about the reds…

Thank you for all the swatches and the round-ups!

    Happy holidays!

    • Oh, forgot to mention: I’m a NC20-NC25, dunno if that helps…

Enjoy your holidays! And thanks again for the amazing reviews!

    • Ohh, try MAC Dubonnet or Viva Glam I :)

You can wear both (really!) — I’m warm-toned, but I don’t love orange-based reds on me (prefer blue-based), though that doesn’t technically make “sense” y’know?

      Happy holidays, Stephanie!

      • Thanks for the tips, I’ll make sure to give these a try next time I’m in the MAC store.

I’m always lost when it comes to lipstick, I love Viva Glam II under my Underage lipglass, but that’s about all I wear of lipstick, just because I find it so difficult to find a right colour =)

Thank you for your reply! And I’d say, keep up the good work 😉 Love the site!

        • No problem, Stephanie! Just keep playin’ around with color – you may even want to just swatch on your arm and mix and match with gloss to come up with some new combos.
