NYX Brown Sugar Lipstick
NYX Brown Sugar Lipstick

The Sultry Season: NYX Brown Sugar Lipstick

NYX Brown Sugar Round Lipstick ($4.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a rich bronzy, reddened brown with copper shimmer.  It has opaque color coverage with a frosted finish, so it is less creamy than some other NYX Round Lipsticks I’ve tried, but on the plus side, lasts for four hours as compared to my usual two to three.

my thoughts on the formula: NYX Round Lipsticks are really creamy and generally opaque in color. The texture and shade range are great. However, the scent of them can run from waxy to synthetic sweetness (neither are particularly pleasant)–and sometimes they smell like nothing at all.  I typically get two to three hours of wear.

final thoughts: If you tend to stay away from brown lipsticks for fear of wearing a more dated shade, this copper-shimmered brown is a modern take on a classic look.

I’m going to say it…. just come right out with it.

I am 24 and I wish brown lipsticks would make a comeback! I missed that era and I want it back.

  7. So pretty! I need to try more of Nyx’s lipsticks, I wish there was a retailer with more selection around me… I always get nervous about buying makeup without being able to swatch it first, although seeing reviews and swatches like this certainly help!

  8. Ashley

This lipstick does look good on you! By the way, I love the new website layout Christine!:D

  9. Alex

It’s a very pretty color, just not for me. Looks great on Christine of course!

I agree with your review on the lipstick. However, I wanted to say that your face looks fabulous! I’m not sure what foundation/blush combo you are wearing, but, it’s working for you!! Your face looks flawless. One of the best looks I’ve ever seen on you I think.

  12. It reminds of of a less burgundy, but more copper version of Sci Fi Delity, LE from MAC. I loved the lipsticks from that collection and am starting to pull them out more. I need to use them before they need to be thrown out. Technically, they say they should be gone now, but they still smell like vanilla so I am enjoying it again. This color looks really nice on you. By the way, it is great to see a lipstick that is less than $30 on your blog:) I love high end and low end if they work, but I cannot do the Dolce or Dior all of the time. It is refreshing.

Bit too frosty for me, I’ll pass this one up, nice color though.
